  3. Jett was mated on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday and I have just realized that she was due to be wormed last week Is there anything I can give her now or shall I wait until 2 weeks prior to her due date? I am kicking myself, I can't believe I forgot to worm her last week
  4. Ahhhh the beautiful aroma of puppy breath I could kiss those milky belly photos!!!
  5. Sending positive thoughts your friends way, I hope that her bitch will be okay!
  6. As my old mate 'Judge Judy ' would say.... "YOU abandoned the dog with the defendant because you couldn't handle the peeing, what did you expect the dog to do hold it in? In that time you didn't pay anything toward the board, feeding or veternary bills associated with having a dog, nor did you dedicate the time in giving this dog any training". She would then do as someone else suggested and add up how much your friend would have spent in the 12 months owing a dog, think generally 1 dog words out to about $1200 (read this someone once, dunno where). She would then say to the original owner of the dog, you can pay 1200 to your friend and you can have the dog, or the dog stays with your friend, of course she would also make sure that your friend was okay with it In the case that the lady calls the Police to come around the take posession of the dog, I would suggest your friend get a stat dec (think its around $2 from Aus Post)signed by her neighbours and vet, then have it witnessed at the Police Station, that she has been the sole person careing for the dog for the past 12 months. The nerve of some people, really
  7. So sorry for your loss, how heartbreaking for you, your family and most importantly, Patches. I have no advice to give as luckily I have not been in that situation. My thoughts a re with you
  8. Perhaps people should write to companies such as ELC and advise them that by selling these DD plush toys they are in effect supporting puppy farmers and then give them a copy of Oscars Law so that they can read about it. I personally would have a lot of issues with myself buying a product from a company that supports or turns a blind eye to puppy farming all for a $ - why not sell poodles, Labrador, westie etc, why a made up dog from a person who doesn't care about the health or well being of a dog, they only care about the $$$
  9. For me it has to b black and tan and meet the breed standard of the Rottweiler ;) My order of importance, Temperament, structure then cosmetics. The reason for this is firstly I will not breed with a dog whos temperament is questionable and conformation wise is incorrect according to the breed standard. Cosmetics can be fixed later down the line in the breeding program, whereas a bad temperament is typically a generic inheritance, and construction wise, the Rottweiler is a working dog and needs to be built correctly Eta: petwise, as long as it's got a good temperament and built correctly I could care less about the markings IF I were just after a pet.
  10. so beautiful Stolz, CJ's really taken to motherhood despite all she went through, just goes to show you what a wonderful temperament she has, you should be so proud to have bred such a beautiful intelligent and stable bitch
  11. I cried when mine went to their forever homes, the man from Jet Pet had to put up with my blubbering over the puppies when he came to get 3 of them as they were going interstate. 5 left me in one day, that was a hard day, the other 5 went during the same week but on different days. They will be 1 in 4 days
  12. I thought that was you in the pic I used to live across the road from the stud park clinic (at that time I had 2 rotties, Magnum and Cougar) Bob told me he had a little boy last time I went into Monash with Jett, congratulations Glad he's closer to home now. Paul saw him the other day at the traffic lights, Bob wax driving one of his friends cars. Will be nice to see you again! Trina
  13. She's nesting and the ensuite probably feels safe for her to have her babies. Yes get new toys specifically for the puppies. Jett is very possessive of her toys and when I gave the puppies their new toys she thought they were hers ESP the squeaky lion (which ended up being hers). Nice stuffed toys are good for them to snuggle with. Plastic bottles filled with rice or pasta are fun to play with and make cool noises. Squeaky toys are a must and if you have a radio turn it on so that the puppies get used to the different noises. I gave Jett goats milk, I didn't give her any additional supplements
  14. Yep I think I'll just reply & tell me to give me a call, rather than wasting my time writing a long reply. If their serious they will call me. Same.
  15. Unlike other species..... Well said!
  16. My bitch was as normal as she is today when she whelped 14 puppies, still her crazy energetic self. I introduced Bandit (not the Sire) to the puppies when they were 3 weeks old. He came inside(on lead) and sniffed the whelping box and the puppies. I wanted him to know what was going on inside. He looked so sad without his best buddy Jett outside with him. At 5 weeks of age they were outside where he could see the m BUT unable to get in with them. At 6-7 weeks of age the puppies played in the backyard, supervised by me, with Bandit in the yard also (on long line). He was quite funny and didn't know what to make of these little land sharks trying to suckle on him. He was fantastic with them. At 8 weeks he was playing with them, again supervised by me, in the sandpit, playing with their toys, and even gently playing tug with them. He would hold the toy and let the puppy pull on the other end. I don't see a problem with introducing a dog to the puppies in a controlled situation. Good luck with the whelping of your bitch and I hope the puppies are all you hope from and more ETA, I can't help with the egg - my dogs and our chickens cannot be together, prey drive in my dogs is very high, so egg stealing doesn't happen.
