  1. Just lurking in this thread, and thought I would make it more confusing by suggesting you look at a raw diet I started feeding raw about 5/6 years ago and the difference in their poo was one of the first things I noticed (say this to a non-dog person and you sound like a right weirdo  ). Loving everyone's baby puppy pics, I will have to post some of ours when they arrive :D I was thinking the same. Willow has been in raw since I got her. And she's always had great skin, coat, ears, muscle tone. Never really went through uglies. And only had two baths since we got her. She just doesn't really get stinky. (Ok...her farts...that's another story. )
  2. More puppy cuteness!!!! I'm looking forward to hearing about all their adventures. (and owner misadventures. :D ) Willow got one of her tug toys last night...it was a bit adorable watching her eyes light up like a kid on Christmas morning. I opened up the parcel and she was watching me, when I pulled out the tug her eyes went REALLY wide and then next minute she was all over me. I think she likes her tug.
  3. She so, totally is. Even at home. It's ALL about Willow. (At least in her mind. ) I'm getting my hands on Sumo one of these days. I LOVE his ears and his big boofy head. (and his big feet too  )
  4. Steph...I'm the same. When we go on walks, we don't come across a lot of people and she's pretty good on lead. She'll try and take off, but you just have to tell 'Ah' and she stops. As soon as people or other dogs come into the picture KnobDog appears and she looses it. I get her to sit before she's seen them, but when she spots them she just doesn't listen. And short of Steve Irwin-ing her to the ground there is not a lot you can do. Food treats? Whatevs. Tug Toy...that gets a quick look, but...whatevs. Fortunately most people don't want to talk to her when she's that much of an idiot, so I don't have to be rude and ask them to ignore her and no she doesn't want pats. My plan is pretty much the same. Work on her focus away from all the delicious distractions and build from there...or wait until she's about 10 yrs old. Talking Willow for a run, does not curb her enthusiasm. Seriously, she is a total nut with people...any people...she doesn't care, they are ALL her friends. Even the scary looking ones. It seems the only requirement is hands to pat her with.
  5. Her favourite trick (aside from dragging me everywhere, while she choked and spluttered on the end of the lead), was to rear up on back legs and flail her front legs at every person and dog who went past us or we went past. That's a lot of dogs and people at a dog show. She scored numerous pats and got to play with a few dogs too. Which had her doing on lead zoomies. Hilarious! If not so good for my tortured shoulders. :lol Later I did some static sit, drops and stands with a piece of grass. She performed beautifully. It's just the walking around on a lead with manners bit that needs LOTS of work.
  6. Willow is great at training, because she knows the routine. BUT...I took her to the showgrounds here in SA last night. And she was ATROCIOUS! Seriously wouldn't have thought she'd had a days discipline in her LIFE. I'm going to have to take her back a few more times I think, before I'd even consider putting her in a show. I was really embarrassed.
  7. I still don't. No matter what time Willow goes to bed, or has her last pee. It's between 6am - 6.30am. Beautiful puppies, btw! We got to see the Super Sumo last night ...he is so HUGE. And those ears! OMG . I would to have loved to have cuddles, but Willow kept trying to entice him into getting dirty.
  8. As we are heading into December, and training/shows etc are getting ready to wind down...I thought I'd review my goals. I haven't done 'too' bad, I guess.
  9. Squeezing behind me on the couch...not such an easy fit these days.
  10. I have to try and get more pictures of Willow, she really doesn't sit still for very long...(read: at all). I've got lots of very blurry shots, or lots of shots of her nose. Depsite doing some training she's still naughty and sometimes a bit rude. She just loves people waaaay too much. She self stacked the other day, go I wish I had had my phone with me...she looked very, very nice. If I do say so myself. Nova is looking gorgeous!
  11. Well, Willow has found her big girl bark! Two mornings in a row she's greeted the day with one if the biggest and deepest woofs I've heard. Actually more of a Ruff, woo, woo, woo, Woof. And yesterday while tracking, for some reason she was distracted by a bunch of people near the car and let them know she wasn't keen. I assume because Dory was in the car going off as they walked too close. Willow and I were standing quite a distance away, trying to track. Which she did! Once she realised there was no threat. She was back to people loving, tail wagging, goofball in no time. :) She's also become pretty flirty with the 'men' dogs. Which are those with testicles. Those who don't have a full set are goofy, playmates. We await her first season. Mop and towels at the ready.
  12. I had no idea of who I was getting, just knew i was getting a girl. It was all a surprise right up to taking her out if the crate at the airport. I told her breeder what I wanted her for and just trusted they'd pick the right one. Never even expected to choose. To say I'm very pleased with her would be a massive understatement. She is all and more than I'd hoped for. I'm all good with a breeder choosing, but I would like to think they would take the buyers wants into consideration. Wants being the kind if dog they want and it's intended purpose.
  13. I'm a mean doggie mum. No soft toys here, Dory kills them. She never used to, till Willow arrived. I am in the process of ordering a soft crate and some tugs for Willow. Dory's really not in to toys or anything like that, so I don't know what to get her. and I feel bad because Willow seems to get everything. Although, with my daughter being home on Monday I might take Dory to work all on her ownsome, she'll love that. :) Hmmmm...but then again....maybe Willow would like a stuffy, just have to remember to keep it away from Dory......*goes off to ponder*
  14. Hi, I just saw your listing and I must have one or two (because I don't want one to get lonely when I leave it all day on it's own) of your latest offerings. However, I was listening to a Famous TV Personality/Vet, and he said that while Hibred Vigor was important when looking for a new puppy, that it was important to see both the parents. This makes total sense, otherwise how am I to know how cute my puppy is going to look! Unfortunately I am on a limited income, but don't worry I can afford to pay for the puppies! And I know one Vet in my local area who is supposed to be good and I'm sure when they see my new puppies and how cute and awesome they are they will give me credit for any other treatment they require. With my limited income, I can't afford to come and visit you, so I was wondering if you could load up your saddest puppies into the boot of the car, (so they have more room) and meet me halfway. I know a really great truckstop with very little traffic. We don't want to scare the poor things with all t hat loud noise. Please make sure these are your saddest puppies, so that I can instantly feel sorry fall in love with them and buy three for the price of two. I don't want you to feel that you wasted the trip. Thanks!
  15. Rottweiler. Taken from ANKC breed standard: Temperament: Behaviour and character. Being good natured, placid in basic disposition and fond of children, he is very devoted, obedient, biddable and eager to work. His appearance is natural and rustic, his behaviour self assured, steady and fearless. He reacts to his surroundings with great alertness. And plenty of people have used them for carting, so pulling up on command should be no problem. :) And not drooly if you get one that has close fitting lips...which they should have anyway.
  16. Ohhhhhhhh. I want one. I've always admired them, now...I want one.
  17. Doesn't answering the most serious response scew the statistics ? What is it your trying to achieve? Bunching a persons lifetime of dogs down to 'the most serious' response doesn't achieve a thing in my mind. Except to point out we're human and make mistakes, miscalculate, misjudge and have lapses of attention.
  18. A breed better or equal to a Rottweiler? Willow asks.....Are you SURE there is such a thing?
  19. Once or twice a week at a local offlead park, when it's mostly empty. Dory gets a run off lead at a beach about once every couple of weeks. Rest of the time, on lead only.
  20. My first dog was a GSD, I was very involved with the GSD Club. When I got a Rottie I lost friends. And all the associated comments about dangerous, unpredictable, etc were very disheartening to hear from people you thought were a lot more balanced in their dog views.
  21. Geez Louise....No wonder Sumo is so HUGE...and handsome. :D He has so much beautiful in his parentage. I feel pretty lucky about Willow...stepping back into Rottweilers after a long absence I wasn't sure who was who in the Zoo, so it very nice to hear numerous people say what a stunning dog he was. I had already seen Mum and Grandmum, beautiful dogs, with really relaxed temperarments. (I suspect Willow not just looks like her Dad, but is naughty like him too  ) STEPH...have I said that I have soft spot for Flatties? and I reckon Gus is a very very nice blend of his parents.
  22. One day after Willow showed interest in tennis balls, I went into the yard and thought, "Where did all the tennis balls go?" We had LOADS of them, next door has a tennis court and despite super, huge fence we end up with so many it's like we get overnight tennis ball showers. Anyway, sitting on the veranda a few days later the problem was solved. Miss Dory who as a rule shows little to no desire for balls had been hoarding and burying them under the old water tank. I assume to spoil upstarts fun. (And she's a resource guarding PITA)
  23. Wow Lhok, Trebles parents are very nice looking dogs! Here's Willow's Mum Hank looks like he was having the awesomest of fun. Willow loves mud too, she also loves to Snorkel. We have to put out a HUGE water BIN for them because she just loves digging it out.
