  1. He has been done, smells better... Could only find hoss gloss.
  2. Not complelty sure he is lying in it, but his blankets tell me he must be... They had pee stains on them. Into the tub for Hugo then, I think I have some aloveen conditioner..somewhere .
  3. Maybe wipes I have a plenty!! Thanks for the tip!
  4. Ok, here I was thinking that little Hugo was doing pretty well on the toilet training thing, juat the odd poop on the newspaper when I go to get him out of his room... And the "omg I am so happy to see you you wee " when he sees anyone lol.. Well, he stinks, and I have figured out why, he has been peeing on his bankers in his crate and then.... Sleeping on it I don't want to give him a full bath as I have no shampoo and it is a bit cool here today (I rarely bath the cairn hence no shampoo of the puppy variety), so I was wondering if they is anything I could spritz him with that I may have around the house. For somereason I am thinking acv ?? He is outside airing and his blankets are being soaked lol.
  5. Having lost a dog last year to a tick and my cairn having a tick that same week (who was born in Samford :-) ). You just can't be too careful. We aren't too far from Samford at all. We have a new pup too, so am constantly checking both of them. Hate the things!!
  6. Here is the boy...Hope these work. He has however, today got himself an injury. Just a slight limp on front leg when rising from a nap then he comes good? He will be at the vet soon for vaccs, but do you think it is a case of see how he is over the next day, and just rest him... Not sever limp, (still bears weight) only limps for about 1 min then he is fine?
  7. Thanks guys.. That does help. Will get some drontal next week, to take him to 12 weeks, then off to the vet we go. Thanks for the heads up on the vaccs, will see what vet says.
  8. Hi all Our border terrier pup is 9 weeks old, he will be due for worming at 10weeks (if memory serves me correctly - pls correct me if I am wrong) then 12 weeks then monthly? Other pups we have had we have got them at 10 weeks so, I didn't need to do them until they had their needles and the vet wormed them then. His breeder was worming him with puppy worming syrup. I have usually used drontal tablets in the past.. Is this still the go for pups? I use sentinel spectrum for our cairn or interceptor, but am assuming pup is too young for this. Also vaccinations - still 12 weeks then. 16 weeks ? Thanks K
  9. So, he is pretty good, I'm not so much sticking to a time for feeds as long as there aree three or four. But he is sleeping through the night. I am making the last meal between 6-7 (depending on what's happening here , then a bit of a play/toilet then into bed. I flat out refuse to get up to him in the night (mean me) but It is too cold!!! And really he is doing pretty well in that department as well. Think I just needed to get back into puppy mode.
  10. Well, he had his last meal about 7 or just after tonight, he scoffed it down (it was some scrambled eggs with some nutro) . Had a bit if a play but was buggered, fell asleep on me with a hot water bottle. He woke last night at various times , so I put cairn terrier in with him about 1am lthis morning. Tried this tonight at 8 ish and all I heard was squeaky toys... Opened the door and expected to see Hugo mucking about, but noo, it was isobel, trying (in vein) to wake him up . Show dog... Really, that's what it is like here (besides the kids) the animals generally have to wait and will wait (albeit - the cats very vocally) just think at this age maybe set times may be ideal. Yes... Cute little pups toshman , Our boy is a blue tan, super cute, looks like a little rotti ATM lol..
  11. Think I will do this too. We have the issue with our cats, as soon as there is movement they want breakfast. Our 4 yr old cairn waits a little while, which is much better. Will start doing this with Hugo.
  12. Thanks. Not working at the moment, but have a fairly strict schedule for my two children which got me thinking. Think I will add in a chicken neck or wing at night too... For Hugo that is not the kids .
  13. Hi We have a new family member - Hugo, an Almost 9 week old border terrier. We have only had him a couple of days and he is settling in nicely. But I was wondering. Do you have set feeding times for your pups? He is on three meals a day, obviously breakfast when he gets up (although I was not willing to do this at 4am this morning) it's the next two... So, about 7 he will have breakfast, Should the next be at midday then again at around 5pm? Or later say at 3pm, then dinner about 7? Thanks
  14. Thanks guys! Well after numerous (numerous numerous) delays, his flight finally got in at 5.30pm (was suppose to be here at 12), am glad he had his little mate with him to keep him company, he flew with virgin with jet pets. He is too cute, a little blue tan border terrier, we have named Hugo. My 4 yr old cairn LOVES him, the 8 yr old Burmese has gone in hunger strike and taking it out of the 5 yr old tonk lol. Will try and post a pic..its been a while. // ]
  15. He is flying with his brother, so who knows what shenanigans will occur . Right - extra bottle,of water, will throw in a couple of towels.
  16. Collar, lead, poo bags, towel - check! Thanks,
  17. Will definately have that ready! I can't wait! Have got the crate for home,,bowls, food,, toys... And a cairn terrier who is in for a big shock!
  18. Hi all It's been a while since I have been on here :) So tomorrow, I am picking up a new pup - excited much But, as the title says, I have never done this airport thing. I have ready a crate, some water, small bowl, blanket, toy and obviously flight details, contact details for breeder and pick up point, the drive from airport to home is only about 40 mins max . He is flying from Vic to bris. Anything else?
  19. My vet also said some dogs still do get ticks with the collars, but they have to be on snug... Quite snug. Nothing beats daily checking ..
  20. Yup in Brisbane north side, . Been here forever and never had a tick till then, cairn got hers first rushed her to vet she was fine after a day, she was what I thought worse than Harvey, (loss of movement in back legs) my boy, was rushed to emergency vet late on a Friday night and we lost him Sunday the 18th.. He never loss movement, but his gag reflex went and his lungs were 90% covered in fluid..Both vets said they are quite toxic this year and they just don't know enough about them... Some dogs get effected differently and recover differently.
  21. After loosing my westie in sept to a tick (and my cairn also had one the same week) I use preventic, vet recommended. After speaking with my cairn breeder he uses kiltix. As you said, nothing is 100% effective, but a combo of collar, checks and top spot definately helps!
  22. Oh I know what you mean about being paranoid abut the others. Every time isobel has a scratch I rush out and check her over. After Harvey I had three guys come in and rip the back garden out, I have tick collars, I have stripped her, spoken to her breeder about what he uses for ticks.. Paranoid much...but it is just such a terrible thing. That is so very sad about benson.. Harder still that he seemed fine days earlier. (hugs)
  23. Oh gayle, sorry to hear of your losses too.. It's terrible isn't it..such a hard thing to get over... Don't think I will for a while. I remember your Bruno, such a spunk of a burm... You take awesome pics too.! Poor little Sophie, how terrible though. 4 Aussies, that must keep you busy! Do you show? Issy took the loss of harves really bad, she was taken (back) to the vet for doggy Valium (a strong RR) and also got run down from her tick, loosing Harvey so had antibiotics too... She is doing better though. Oh...2 girls!
  24. Hi gayle, yes I am from cw. How are you.? Been absent from there (and here) for a while..2 babies (2 yr old and 4month old) keep me busy... Oh and spence and stu...
  25. I have just found a 6 pack of Capstar in the cupboard. The expiry is 03/2011, now normally I would just chuck it as i have never had the need to use it , but i have noticed issy having a scratch, can't see any fleas but on here belly looks like flea dirt.. She is due for her sentinel spectrum in a couple of weeks... would it be ok to use as I have read some people do it, or should I just throw it out?
