  1. RIP little pup. Sorry to hear about Jazze, Jinta.. hugs to the two of you.
  2. Depends on the dog i would say. He is a thread about lamb neck.. Lamb Necks My boy would take AGES to fully eat one.. others are gone in a matter of mins.. so i guess it depends on the dog.
  3. Is it expensive?.. $60-$80 - depends on how long it has been and obviously how long he takes, but he is such a good boy he gets vouchers for 20% off sometimes (like his birthday and xmas cards from her LOL) Tried one groomer first and she was CRAP cant stand her, luckily i only took him there once when he was a bub, for nails etc. Then i tried another one (next to my hairdresser - very convenient as we can go get out hair done the same day - although he takes longer LOL) The previous owner had airdales and did a lovely westie cut all hand stripped took for ages (and $$) though but he came out beautiful (she was more expensive than the new owner) The new owner, hand strips but i also suspect a bit of Coat King action aswell.. which is fine, he still looks cute she also only uses aloveen products and she comments on how well behaved he is.. not when i bath him... little BRAT! Before After
  4. I have a Westie boy - he has always been stripped (and is due for a strip now as he looks more like a small polar bear LOL). I have never mastered the art of it so i found a groomer who could. Where are you Singapore/melbourne? Perhaps the westie club in your area could help? Or even the breeder of you westie? Oh.. and can we please have some pictures of your dog?
  5. mmm i guess human beds are for humans and dog beds are for dogs IN MY HOUSE that is. I suppose saying i dont think it is 'right' wasn't the correct word, i just dont like it. I dont mind what other people do just not in my house. Dont get me wrong Harvey can sit on the bed when he wants, but he is a creature of habit and wouldn't sleep on it, he goes to his room at 8.30pm to bed and has done since 9 weeks old On a hot night last week we had the air con on in our bredroom before bed, the house was unusually quiet, poked my head through the bedroom door and Harvey and Spencer (the cat) were on the bed having a nap. So they can go onto the bed, they are allowed i just wouldn't want them sleeping in there with us.
  6. I dont like dogs in beds, i just dont think it is right IMO. My boy has never slept on our bed, he likes his own room. Not sure regarding the health issues for you but there could be some pack issues could develop with your dog, that being thinking she is above you in the pecking order.
  7. Thats so sad. My thoughts are with you.
  8. Sorry to kinda hijack.. I have a soft pin slicker brush, a pin brush (both of these are the same 'type' with a special grip) and a fine tooth comb..I generally grab all three and start with the slicker, then the pin and face and fiddly areas with the comb...id this right or is another way better.
  9. Emma has gone home to be with our mum and younger sister. Everyone is going to miss Stanley, he was a great big beauitful boy. When looking through photos over the weekend the majority are of him with something he had stolen in his mouth...typical lab.
  10. good point!! Are you sure it is food related and not a contact allergy type thing or a reaction to some shampoo? I remember once when i first gave harvey a bath in a fidos puppy shampoo, he had a small reaction as it was too fragrent for him took quite a while for it to go away, i now use (i dont often bath him) Aloveen shampoo and leave in conditioner - YUMMO! EDIT - RAW is best, forget cooking it, NEVER cook anything with bones in it. The mince you describe sounds like lenards stuff, it is basically ground up chicken carcass
  11. chicken pet mince - do you have a lenards shop near you, their stuff is good IMO. Lamb necks, shanks, mince (although a little more $$) Probably best to cut one thing out at a time and see if there is an improvement. I haven't had to go through and elimination diet thing so not sure about the best way to go about it. I have just read a fair bit about allergies and the like as my boy being a westie is 'apparently' prone to them and have sensitive skin and something has always come up about beef that and cereals/wheat etc - have never had a problem with him though but have tried to stay clear of cereals and only recently have started a small amount of beef with him (mixed in with lamb BARF pattie).
  12. I agree take her off the dry food. I would also be inclined to take her off the beef mince too, mainly because information i have read states that beef can be a trigger food for some dogs, over other foods like chicken etc...
  13. I always buy treats when i see them, dried lambs heart and one greenie. To another shop i go to, i buy BARF and sometimes buy a toy but Harvey (dog) is not all that into toys so i buy one for the cat (the cat is harvey's fav toy)
  14. harvey has supercoat Chicken and Rice. Howver he only gets this when i forget to de-frost some BARF (perhaps once a week or less).. BUT a couple of weeks ago i had no barf for 1 week so - and honestly i could tell the difference, not so much in body odour, but his poos and breath were a bit stinky... back on his normal regime and he is all good.
  15. roughly $7.50 per week for barf (premade patties) I also have a bag of Supercoat sensitive which last me about 3 months as i don't feed it that often (not sure how much that cost) Treats about $2-$3 per week i guess, i buy a biggish bag of dried lambs heart and a greenie every now and again. Bones could be included in here. Homebrand/coles brad tuna. sardines also included. So you could say around $10 give or take a few dollars. Perhaps $15 Per week. He is a small dog weighs about 8-10 (say 9)kg.. fairly active during the day (relaxes by night LOL)
  16. Just do what the vet says. Come up to my place this afternoon I have one of your coats at my place still (the navy and red number with the dogs on it) If not i have a bonds singlet that will fit him - that or i think i have one of young siblings shirts at my place (she wont mind he he he). I will give you some aloveen in a spray bottle to soothe his skin. Oh and you can get the Leo too.
  17. Do you mean he 'scooted' along the ground or did he do a "harvey" comando crawl?
  18. There are two places i know of northside Brissie that sell the patties they cost around $14.95 i *think* . One place at Paddington and one place at Keperra.
  19. Do you mean feeding the tuna or the yoghurt everyday? Or both? I personally dont feed this everyday (fish that is) it just wouldn't be blanced IMO. Yoghurt, i generally buy Harvey his own tub (as i can't stand natural yoghurt), just a small one and a dollop of it goes onto his barf mix or fish whatever he is having for the day.. if i dont have it in the fridge he doesn't have it...mmm not much help am i ... *still on my first coffee *
  20. this was the exact combo of food that Harvey had for breakfast this morning.. yoghurt and tuna, ewww for me but he LOVES it! I use the pauls natural yoghurt - thats what i have at the moment i think. Tuna, just the cheap brands of it in oil or spring water. Sardines is another one i buy, again just one of the cheaper brands but i get one minus salt and he sometimes gets mackeral too - whatever i pick up at the shop really. These tins always come in handy if i forget to defrost BARF.
  21. Click on Distributors List of suppliers.. ETA:- click on distribute BARF first that will bring up the list EDIT again - Kayne perhaps this food could be of intrest? Big dog pet foods.. from this link
  22. Yes, i have started using these for about a month now (use to make my own) i buy the chicken one which i get for about $11 from one place and $13 from another place. I think there are 10 patties in the roll (pretty sure that there is) so this generally last me for two weeks (that being because one day he will have fish, rec bone or fast etc). So far, i am finding them fantastic, much more convenient and cost effective for me PLUS heaps more freezer space (which has been filled with bones ) and less time to prepare - thats for sure! They have everything in them that i was putting in mine plus more. Harvey didn't really even notice a switch from my one to Dr B ones, he loves them, gets one a day (one patty per 10kg dog is the recomended amount)
  23. I am yet to be faced with the decision. However, i am trying to explain to my mother that our lab, who is OLD like 14-15, needs to be put to sleep. She wont have a bar of it, says he is fine etc he is happy etc etc. When i go over there and see this dog can barely walk, doesn't know where he is, not sure if he can see properly anymore - how can he be happy?!
