  1. Congratulations Alpha Bet!!! I was waiting for your post! They are beautiful! Your puppies were born the day after mine, one of four Aussie Shep litters in four days. <3 That beautiful photo is such a deja vu. White whelping box, dark blue vet bed, blue merle and black tri aussie pups.
  2. There's a thread in the breeders' community about Cocker Spaniels. ETA: http://www.dolforums.com.au/topic/227794-ethics-dilemma/
  3. I don't know much about the Cocker Spaniel as they are not a breed that interests me, but found this page (http://www.thecocker...o.uk/health.htm) to be informational. I have used the below three companies to perform health testing on my own breed. This is what I have found for the Cocker Spaniel. I hope it is helpful. http://animalnetwork...php?breedid=148 Familial Nephropathy Kidney Disease Progressive Retinal Atrophy Eye Disease http://asaplab.com.a...kerspaniel.html Progressive Rod Cone Degeneration Australia / NZ statistics: 54.95% of dogs tested were either carriers or affected Autosomal Hereditary Recessive Nephropathy Australia / NZ statistics: 8.49% of dogs tested were carriers Phosphofructokinase Deficiency Australia / NZ statistics: No information is currently available - keep checking this page for updates http://www.vetdnacen...lt.php?breed=39 Degenerative Myelopathy DNA Test Phosphofructokinase Deficiency DNA Test Uric Acid DNA Test (Hyperuricosuria)
  4. she has had all adults tested, she has no idea if any of the others from the litter were also affected, regarding what she is selling with breeding papers, if you mean the pedigree papers then they will all have those, statistically at least half of the litter must be carriers. if they were sold on main or limited register I don't know myself. Expected Ratios.. Clear x Clear = 100% Clear Clear x Carrier = 50% Carrier 50% Clear Clear x Affected = 100% Carrier Carrier x Carrier = 50% Carrier 25% Affected 25% Clear Carrier x Affected = 50% Carrier 50% Affected Affected x Affected = 100% Affected. 5. Either of the two on either end. Blush, Vincent, Dizzy and Orion. Blush and Vincent are my favorites today. Yesterday it was Dizzy and Orion! <3

  8. My girl ended up going on day 60. She had 12 puppies naturally. Four didn't have heart beats, and we lost one on day 2.
  9. Thanks. I cried, and then Alice cried, and then I balled my eyes out. No sleep = super emotional. Does everyone else get so upset over a newborn baby?
  10. We lost the tiny blue girl this morning.
  11. Remove the risk of it happening again by feeding the dogs completely seperate to eachother. I would be making sure that your daughter is no where near the dogs with food or high treasure toys/treats. I recommend crates for feed time.
  12. Thank you all for the congrats and condolences. I let Alice have the sleeping babies untill the next puppy was born, then took it away when she couldnt see. She hasn't gone looking for them, so I don't think she knows that four beautiful babies are gone. She's too busy being a super fantastic mother to her eight babies in the whelp box. The sleeping puppies are in my freezer, I'll be burying them tomorrow. Heidii - Congratulations on your litter! I bet they are beautiful little fatties! I hope they thrive and that your girl doesn't take any crap from her two brothers. ;) I think you and I are the only ones with litters so far.. I'll load some photos up tonight of Alice and her fantastic eight.
  13. Good mornin heidii! Alice is sleeping now, puppies are all suckling and squeaking away. Been to the vet this morning for a good look over and for an oxytocin shot. No more babies, Alice is relieved. ;) The breakdown of surviving puppies is: 3 dogs (all black tri, one tailed, two very short NBTs) 5 bitches (4 blue Merle, 1 black tri, all very short NBTs). Dead puppies were: 2 dogs (1 blue Merle NBT, one black tri tailed) 2 bitches (1 black tri NBT, one blue Merle NBT)
  14. Twelve puppies so far. 8 alive and thriving, 4 sleeping forever.
  15. Number 9 is pretty slow and took a while to get going, amazing little fighter
  16. I did. He said it's normal for her at this stage to not want to eat, and that vomiting has been common with Alice. I think I'm just a worry wart.
  17. I'm a first time breeder of Australian Shepherds; and my dear maiden girl Alice is currently on day 58 of her pregnancy. She is having a rather large litter for her breed, though it's not uncommon for her lines. I'm wondering if she will go earlier then day 63 because of her size and the number of puppies on her Xray. The first question is for everyone who's ever bred a bitch, but the last two are for those who had litters via Artifical Insemination. I've made the questions multiple choice, incase breeders have had mixed experiences. Thanks. Please feel free to comment further on your answers. The questions are: Q1 - How far into your bitch's gestation did she whelp? Q2 - If an AI litter; did your bitch whelp her whole litter naturally or did she require a Caesarean section? Q3 - If an AI litter; was it a normal size litter for your breed?
  18. My darling Alice is vomiting a lot of stinky sticky yellow fluid today. She's not eaten anything unusual, although she's had no appetite, I've been hand feeding her. Should I be alarmed? She is due Friday.
