  1. They dogs ate everything that we did. Be it meat, mashed potato, icecream or lollipops. lol.
  2. One of my bitches has ten, the other nine. It's nothing to worry about.
  3. Sounds like good news to me. Maybe she just wasn't quite ready.
  4. From what I hear; the Pomeranian is a lovely breed, as is the Pekingese. Why don't you find out what you are attracted to about the mutt your looking for, then seek a purebred pup from a registered ethical breeder who breeds for the betterment of the breed with all the health testing possible; rather then breeding for her wallet. Find a purebred dog that really interests you, suits your lifestyle and one that you know you can provide a wonderful pet home for. Approach breeders; be honest and find a nice pup. Here's hoping you don't get sucked in by the designer dog scam. Goodluck.
  5. and then the parents are most likely NOT health tested for any hereditary diseases - and no 'hybrid vigour' does not stop hereditary problems in dogs of mixed breed heritage. But if you're in to being ripped off hardcore and being sucked into the "designer dog" hype; then go for your life. For the love of dogs though; get it desexed.
  6. Sorry Mate. Not a breed, so you won't find it here, on a purebred forum for purebred dogs. Sorry also about your choice in mongrel breeding.. Know that you will be getting your puppy farm or backyard bred pup though, and live happily knowing it's probably not wormed, vacc'd, chipped and that it's parents are the same and probably get bred at every chance.
  7. Thankyou. Will give this a read now. Thankyou again.
  8. Double Post. Stupid Internet Browser decided to have a brain fart.
  9. I think having another dog at your property very well could have brought your bitch into season, as I'm going through something similar right now. :D My house has only two entire bitches. No males, neutered or entire. Recently (2-3weeks ago) we had a tiny little entire male rock up at our house quite lost during the spell of bad weather. He was thoroughly spoilt, washed, dried, fed, played with the girls, slept inside. He marked all over the front and back yards and had an absolute ball being chased around the yards by my two hussies. It was hilarious watching him duck between their legs and confuse the girls. I think he was a little disappointed when his owners picked him up the following afternoon and took him home again. Just this Saturday morning one of my girls came into season (her 2nd ever) and this afternoon my other girl followed. Both were late to come in, but i do wonder if our little visitor helped bring my girls in since they were running so late with their seasons. They were due jan 1st. If she has a true season for the full length of time I'm pretty confident she will ovulate and can be successfully mated. I would be prog testing her though so to not miss the day. The things our dogs put us through...
  10. They sure can! Desexed dogs have tied with bitches before. +1.
  11. Welcome to the DOL forums. ;) Hop on over to the Aussie thread and say hi. ;) I have two Australian Shepherd bitches. Both Black tri colours. and I agree; they ARE the best breed. Bonnie.
  12. I don't know of any ethical breeder who would sell you a puppy knowing that there is a good chance the dog will wander and get itself shot or ranover. Please do the right thing and get a fence. You could consider cheaper livestock fencing and then look at a pet containment system (electric/static dog fence) and teach the dog to understand boundaries that way. I'm fairly sure it's illegal to not provide adequate containment for your pets regardless... I urge to you get adequate fencing for your dog before you buy your dog.
  13. Will be interesting to hear how everyone goes with their chosen companies. Can anyone who orders through any of the above companies please come back to the thread and update how they felt they went with price, time frames and service. Thanks.
  14. Can anybody please educate me regarding Perinuclear Halos and dogs. Hoping to please understand what it is, if it's inherited and anything else. Any information is welcome and appreciated. I've not ever heard of it and am now very curious and wanting to better understand. Thankyou in advance.
  15. I keep our big water bucket in the bathroom; at the furthest point from the door, rather then in the kitchen on the lovely new floorboards.
  16. I would happily pay more for a pup who's parents have had more then the required health tests. I would also pay more to have a pup from imported semen. Approx 50% more would be expected I think.
  17. For the most part; my experience has been good, educational and positive. As with most people; there has been some mixed experiences; but on the whole it has been good!
  18. I can absolutely understand your pain; this frustrates me to no end.. I stopped on my motorbike on one of our busy main roads during peak hour, to try and steer a brindle staffy type dog from continuing to walk along the road. When I pulled over and got off the bike; I asked a pair of people walking ten metres ahead of the dog if they knew where he came from. They said "Oh he's been following us for about 30minutes". I couldn't understand why they didn't call someone to collect the dog before it was runover. I locked up the bike; grabbed the dog and walked over to a quieter area and rang my other half. He came and got the dog and I met him at home. Turns out he was a she; and was really timid with the longest nails I've ever seen. We rang the RSPCA and they said they'd be an hour. I washed her, de-flead her, fed and watered her, did her nails and let her sleep in the bathroom. The RSPCA were about 20mins late. No one ever collected her either. RIP Little girl.
