  1. Hello, has anyone else had to manage a 2 week old puppy (or very young puppy) who has had a rectal prolapse? Puppy has been treated by the vet but it prolapsed again yesterday. Vets advice has been followed, but I really don't want it to happen again, does anyone have any advice to help?
  2. How is the puppy this morning? Any news? Hoping to hear some good news for you and your puppy. I agree, the breeder is making all the right offers, you are lucky there!
  3. Hi FlissPrideaux, I have talked to my vet and he is happy for me to try the alternate therapies. Thank you for your input.
  4. Thanks everyone for your comments. I will give them a call and pass on the suggestions I receive.
  5. Ideas please.... Several months ago I rehomed a young adult Toy Poodle to a lovely couple who live locally. They have a fully enclosed backyard, with a doggie door, so she has access to the yard 24/7. The poodle lived in and out of my house and used the doggie door when she needed to go to the toilet. Both my property and theirs are rural properties with no neighbours so it can't be a neighbour teasing the dog type of problem. Lately the poodle has refused to go out to urinate during the day, however she will use the doggy door to go out and toilet at night. I have suggested to them that for some reason she has become scared of the backyard and it may help to take her out on the lead and walk her around, and play with her out there. Also to start feeding her outside. I asked them to make the backyard and their time out there a 'happy place'. I wonder if anyone here could give me advice that I could pass on to help them with this problem. They love the little poodle very much but of course don't like her weeing in the house. Thanks in advance.
  6. Minimax, Thank you I will speak to my vet and try some.
  7. Thanks Minimax, that is the kind of thing I was hoping to hear. Can you please tell me what you buy, how you use it and where you get it from? Persephone it always occurs late March / early April, but does occur at other times, it is not an everyday problem. The regular vet I see has checked for all the above-mentioned problems. I just really hate seeing my dog uncomfortable and disfigured by these minor problems so am looking for other options. Environmental is hard to fix, I live on acreage with a huge garden which the dogs have the run of.
  8. Mild irritation/tears. Dog has seen 2 or 3 differnt vets over time and although they prescribe ointments, the problem reoccurs. They consider cause possible irritation from environment/garden.
  9. Hello All, I saw Eyebright mentioned the other day as a possible treatment for minor eye problems. I would love to hear peoples experiences with the use of the herb or complex and any success or failures. Thanks in advance. MP
  10. Storm ealier this week - slept right through, pre-barf gagging last night... Straight out of bed... This is so true...
  11. Hi Zenchel Thank you for your comment. I guess if the OP wants to know if the testing is available they will need to contact ASAP as suggested by Tapua earlier. ASAP tested my Toy Poodle in 2011 for colours & various other diseases including PRCD. Regards Mojopoodle
  12. No, it's always been the case that Animal Network holds the licence for prcd PRA and CEA testing in Australasia. Hi Zenchel, I have just been to ASAP Labs website and under the heading 'Genetic Diseases and Traits that we can test for' the first mentioned is PRCD. This is under the Diseases by Breeds for Mini & Toy Poodles. Regards Mojopoodle
  13. Is this something new? I have not done PRCD PRA testing for a while but my last test was done through ASAP with no problems.
  14. Hi Jenny ASAP Labs are the cheapest that I have used. They have a detailed website with a lot of useful information. They also have a list of non-vet 'collectors' that may be cheaper than your vet.
  15. All the best to everyone in the Fire Risk areas, keep safe.
  16. This is far more important than being forced to build cement kennels (etc) in my opinion. Quality of life for all the dogs the breeder owns should be of utmost importance.
  17. My poodles always check out my shopping bags, as far as they are concerned I never fail at shopping!
  18. Love all the pics, but there are a couple of really special ones! Just gorgeous!
