  1. I got my numbers today. 20 labs saturday 23 labs sunday
  2. Correct just had a quote for $1500. With more areas comes additional costs.
  3. I agree the compact deluxe is the best buy if you have one dog and are on your own. The deluxe is much stronger than the regular compact and has a heavier duty canopy (300 denier). I got mine for $139 and then had it couriered down from the Central Coast to Sydney for about $200..
  4. I think in some countries they do this and they are called something like "scruffs" classes. It maybe a good way of encouraging dog owners and dog lovers to come along and see what goes on and aspire to bigger and brighter things. If the dog world is declining and show numbers are dropping it may be a good promotional idea. It puts people in touch with breeders and would be healthy for dogs in general. Logistically, it may be another story. Dogs NSW is running a PR show in June that is aimed at the public. For them to come along and see what happens at a show, there will be breed stalls and demonstrations etc. It is advertised in local papers etc. They held this last year for the first time and this year they are hoping for bigger things. Maybe next year it would be good to include a scruffs class and give it a trial run.
  5. None here in Sydney, hopefully tomorrow
  6. I have Sheer Magic which are great but if you can get hold of them the Millers Forge are fantastic, they are small but very sharp and don't drag on the nail when you clip. Being so small they look like they won't do the job but far from it. I highly recommend these. I think you might only be able to get them from the States but are well worth looking into. I use them on my bulldogs nails with the greatest of ease.
  7. Great Rugs have them. I just bought two sides. They zip together at the corner. They fit nicely with lots of pieces of velcro and loops etc. I only brought two so as i could make a corner to block out the wind and rain etc.
  8. I tried it too but the dogs didn't really like it.
  9. Are you sure it is not something atopic. My dogs come inside in the evenings and often have red chins and bellys. They lick there paws a lot. I give them an antihistamine and within 45 minutes it stops. I live on 6 acres and i am sure it is something in the grass. It is purely seasonal.
  10. I just purchased the oztrail compact deluxe. It fits perfectly across the seats of my ford station wagon. I decided on this one which is exactly the same in strength as the 3 x 3 deluxe. It has a the heavier weight canopy 300 denier and a much stronger structure than the smaller compact. It is slightly bigger when folded up but that is because there is more structure to fold than the regular compact. I paid $149 from camping world but then paid $30 to have it couriered. I am very happy with this as i wanted the strength of the larger canopy but couldn't fit the size of it in my car so it is a very good compromise.
  11. I tried pet edge I ordered the mesh plus 2 crate fans and they wanted $99 to post $113 order. $13.95 of that was a processing fee.
  12. I have multiple pairs of Skechers. They are very comfy. I buy my from the States on Shoebuy.com. They work out about $70 with postage. It kind of works out cheaper the more oyu buy with the postage. I usually but for myself and some friends so we get them cheaper. Ebay have skechers as well there is a great ebay shop called Aussie in USA.
  13. Interesting point about bobtails. Shouldn't we select the puppy that best meets the standard, not the one with the best bobtail. I see this in boxers who have imported dogs from UK that were cross bred with corgis to get the bobtail gene. The standard of these bobtail boxers being show is very poor and is effecting the standard of the breed. They are purely selected for their tails which don't meet the standard anyway with a fish hook on the end. If this is the best they have to select in their litters then i would hate to see the worst. My point is that all for the sake of the tail the breed has been severely effected in its quality of dogs being shown. I Judges need to be aware of this and shouldn't penalise a dog with a natural tail in traditionally docked breeds.
  14. I always thought (maybe wrong though) showing cropped dogs was opposed as it was like advertising "this dog is imported" so the dog fraternity decided they would ban it in fairness to others as it was illegal here anyway. If that is the case what does it say about docking now. I think in fairness to all if showing an imported docked dog is okay then showing a imported cropped dog should be okay as they are both banned procedures.
  15. My friend has one and she is a dog groomer. She uses it on all of her customers. She finds it fantastic. I have never used it but she said she thinks the dogs are cleaner and it saves heaps of water. I asked her how the dogs like it and she said it is no different to using a hydrobath on a dog for the first time.
  16. Does anyone know numbers for boxers and british bulldogs.
  17. Does the pre-chalker work okay in short coated dogs. i have a bitch that has a bit of staining on her feet and obviously the chalk doesn't stay on that long. I have tried the paint on stuff but am not keen on the effect.
  18. I love Isle of Dogs. I use the vet grade evening primrose oil and my dogs coats have never looked and felt better. I am very happy with this. I have tried Chris Christensen as well as Groomers. I think it is the extra strength evening primrose that probably makes the difference.
  19. I know exactly what you are going through. I have my bulldog xray and i was told a similar thing although he didn't have the symptoms your dog has. He had a fall and was xray after the fall and it was an incidental finding. I spoke to Prof Wyburn in WA who does hip scoring and from limited hip scores that have been taken on BBDs the average score is 54 with similar scores in UK and NZ. I had the films reviewed by a vet who sees a lot of bulldogs and he just said so what, that look great compared to most bulldogs. So all i can say is have the films reviewed by someone who knows bulldogs. Their anatomy is quite a lot different to a lot of breeds and even so if it doesn't work out well for your dog you need a vet that is experienced with anaethetising your bulldog. Perhaps suggest you speak with your breeder and see what they have to say. Good luck
  20. Sheer Magic. I can't remember where I bought them, maybe Clipper World or one of the stores on this site. I tried a few pairs but these cut really well. I have bulldogs and their nails are quick thick and difficult to cut normally but these clippers work great. Highly recommended.
  21. Hi Lesley, Chester is my boy's grandfather!!!
  22. I have used the Plush Puppy wonder wash spray and i think it is good for a quick tidy up. I also use Fido dog wipes at times as well, i suppose baby wipes are similar and cheaper (not sure of the active ingredients). With the Plush puppy i would give the dog a good brush first then spray it into the coat and rub it in with your hands and then towel dry or blow dry. I used it last weekend on a baby puppy that had an "accident" in the crate traveling to the show.
  23. Got my food on Friday and have Fed my super fussy dog 2 meals. He loves it and licked the bowl clean. It smells great too. It is recommended to give rmb with it as well. So far so good. Only problem is it is very expensive wish there was some way to get it cheaper.
  24. I read on DOL that Mylanta is a good topical reliever for an itchy inflammed rash as it has an anaesthetic effect. I tried it on myself for some mossie bites recently and it worked. My dog has a lovely red spotty belly at the moment too, she is allergic to the grass and it seems to occur when it is wet and humid. If I keep her off the grass (i.e on weekends when home she is in the house mostly) it clears up quickly. good luck sorting out your puppy
