Elbie, Hoover, Dodge & Friends!
dandybrush replied to koalathebear's topic in Photos, Photos, Photos
i thought i would never trust raz off leash, now he is off heaps - not by roads, only in parks or in walking tracks or in the bush. however i have left him off to walk home once - he was buggered and walked beside me the whole way, but it was late and i didnt see any other dogs or pple it not that i dont trust him, which i do maybe 70% of the time but i would hate for that 30% to cause him to get hit by a car or endangered in any way, so i just would rather not tempt fate -

Haha yep, if we make it up with the puppers we will definitely organise something! Even if we end up leaving the dogs here we should catch up, I don't think we did last year... Satch is a water baby as well, he is always trying to drag us into puddles, lakes, creeks, ponds You have to be careful because he'll be walking nicely on leash then all of a sudden do a giant lunge towards the water! OH took Ava for a run this morning! He had her off leash most of the way (just on lead through the streets) and he said she was brilliant. Didn't tire her out though, I threw a toy for her a few times in the backyard afterwards and she was still running and leaping enthusiastically! I still have to work on raz's on leash skills :D great work with Ava yes definately, you should come too our place, see our house and meet raz anyway i think we played pool years ago maybe satch and raz would do zoomies together then -
omg that is cute haha

no i didnt take my camera with me...it was raining again he was very cute haha, doesnt take much encouragement to get him jumping in water. I have to watch him though he will jump in any water he sees, which can be unsafe, so i have to spot the water before he does -
Help~~looking For A Good Pet Motel In Brissy

i walked through alidas...i didnt really like it, its a big shed with rows of barking dogs (echoing throughout the whole place) i think it would be a stressful environment. however they did have good grassy areas, and gave the dogs good play times i think just my opinion i have a bro in law who sat for us last time we went away, so am on the market for a new place atm for our next trip prob next easter -

Help~~looking For A Good Pet Motel In Brissy

Animal world pet motel is good at cornubia though the dogs sleep in outdoor runs (with a cover obviously), if you want to pay a bit more and give the dogs some more attention Bark Royale at Nerang is quite good, the dogs sleep inside there. Im going to check out beenleigh pet motel for my boy on our next trip, but i havent had any experience with them yet, i think the dogs sleep inside there too. i have heard the pet chalet at brookfield area is quite good too, might check them out for my next trip.. -
he sure is a cute pup, he was quite focused on you which was great

do you ever leave the pup in the play pen when you are home and leave the room? you have to teach pup to be separate from you even when you are home, then maybe when you are not home they wont mind so much

What Would You Do? Job Overseas Vs Dogs
dandybrush replied to chichihuahua's topic in General Dog Discussion
if this job is a career maker maybe its in your best interest if you take it, however i have heard that getting a dog out of the country is alot easier than bringing the dog back in, so i would be inclined to leave the pup at home, safe with your family and then maybe a year or 2 down the track if you think you are going to be staying overseas maybe look at bringing the pup then just an idea' a very tough decision for you -

dandybrush replied to MavericksMission's topic in Photos, Photos, Photos
wow the dogs all seem to get on so well, and they all had a blast, great photos guys, wish i lived close enough -
i was going to train my boy to be in the back of the ute, then he half jumped out one day, so he has been inside since, we now have a hatchback and he rides in the boot, lol, but i worry constantly that someone will run into us and squash him to death (i worry all the time about my baby) my next car will be a fwd something taller so he is safer in the boot, also with a bigger boot to possibly fit a crate for him so he isnt rolling around the back lol, one day

it continuously amazes me that pple can do such horrid things to living breathing animals that trust us fully and depend on us to live i feel terrible for the way this beautiful animal has passed no one should be made to feel that much pain ever!! i think they should stab the perp in the neck and scalp him and see how he likes it, i really think in such cruel cases that we need harsher penalties...im thinking an eye for an eye (if you follow) RIP beautiful girl

Weird Behaviour From 5 M/o Puppy
dandybrush replied to Seita's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
He doesn't like it but doesn't growl at me. He will attempt to take his food away if I approach him while he's eating but if I call him he will come away from the food. I think it must be a game to him, especially considering he went to the effort to bring his bone next to the teddy bear despite the bone and the teddy being at other ends of his pen. I just wonder why he does it? Check with K9 for advice, you should be able to take any food off* him, with him showing NO*aggression signs whatsoever, you really need to get onto this ASAP. Sorry where did I say he showed any sign of aggression? He doesn't like me taking food away but he doesn't show any sort of aggressive tendancies when I do. Just this morning I pulled a half eaten bone out of his mouth without a single hassle. Again I never said it was cute, I said it was weird and was curious about why he does it. He hasn't shown any signs of food aggression towards me or my partner or my other dog so you guys need to stop jumping to conclusions. I have discussed this with a respected professional and have been informed that plenty of puppies do this during their ranking/shaping developement phase which is what he's entering into now. im sorry i did not mean to say you have an aggressive puppy. all i mean is that now is prob the time you should be doing alot of touching and patting and taking and giving and approaching when the pup is eating. it is not/may not be aggression now but if you bend to pup and let him run off or move away from you with food now then the habit will become worse with age, and can possibley lead to food possession. just do all you can now to prevent any future problems, prevention is better than the cure...i should know my dog has just started jumping our fence into the neighbours yard there must have been a way i could have prevented that -
How To Tell Tell Off Other Peoples Dogs
dandybrush replied to LoveMyLabEva's topic in General Dog Discussion
i agree with erny, if this was another dog coming at my boy while he was on leash i would be body blocking and physically removing the dog off mines back, i dont know if i would be brave enough to say anything to the owner, but if the owner didnt get the hint i would move to a differnt part of the beach, or go home -
Weird Behaviour From 5 M/o Puppy
dandybrush replied to Seita's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
yes it might be cute/funny now but it wont be funny if it turns into food aggression and you know or have kids who will try to take food from the dog something i did when my pup was little was i got out 2 chicken wings (his fav) and i would have one in each hand and i would sit there while he chewed on them, randomly i would say "give" and take one from his mouth and give him the other one (the idea being that if i take stuff from him he gets good stuff back, so he should look forward to that, he was also tied up so he couldnt take off with the wings in case he managed to get them off me) (initially he would run away from me if i approached when he had a chicken, now he doesnt, plus its gone in 10 seconds anyway) another thing i would do when he was having dinner is i woudl approach and throw in bacon pieces or yummy meats so he would associate me approaching with something good, i would also sit with him and pat him all over while he ate just some ideas if you are not already doing that -
can i just say Koolies are my dogs now and forever, i fell across this breed by accident...in a pet shop of all places. but i have met and know of some koolie breeders now and will definatley get my next baby from a breeder when the time comes. raz, my baby is happy to laze about the house with me and come 3 or 4 pm he will annoy me till i take him for a walk or do some training with him. if you give a koolie what it needs, exercise, love and training then they will be your best friend for life IMO

yes the bladder one does sound good...we have a water bed, so raz would prob think we had got him his own haha, might look into it as it gets hotter

i believe nuture plays a big role in raising a dog to behave appropriatley. however i have heard of a litter that the whole litter had to be put down as they would through no provokation would turn around and snap. they were the sweetest dogs until they snapped. so i believe that both nature and nuture play a big role. but if you have sensible breeders breeding nice natured dogs then it will be the nuture in the "bad homes" that stuffs them up and not really in their nature...if that makes sense

can i ask, what is the workshop for? is it specifically for pple with a goal in mind, or can anyone looking for a fun training weekend go? and is it only positive reinforcement training?

my baby razzle is my heart dog, he follows me everywhere, i want to do soo much for him i want him to have a fun filled life. he of course loves everyone, but will always come back to me when im out i think about him, worry about him constantly, i have become addicted to my koolie forum and DOL just so i can talk about him to others and hear other happy stories. when out i reach a point in my mind that he has been alone long enough and i just close up and want to go home, and the longer im made to stay out from that point the grumpier i get, till i can go home to my baby I dread the day that he becomes an angel, i hope thats a loooooooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnnngggggggggggg way off. we had been married 1 week, when we saw him, had never heard of a koolie, but were smitten, he was everything we wanted. so we took him home that day and have been learning from him ever since. he is my heart pup and i will love him always and forever
