  1. The first week with your new pup is very intent. We take our puppies out at a minimum of every hour during daylight times and as soon as we hear a rustle or if they get up. We also have a bell on the door handle and everytime we take them out, we ring it. We have had our newfie pup for a week now and she has made no mistakes and now walks up to the door and gives the chain of bells a jangle, when she is out of her crate. She is just such a cute little thing. We stay out side until she does something and give lots of praise outside where it happened. After food we try to leave her out for at least one hour in a safe area. She has settled into her (and ours) really well. She has slept right through the night the last two nights
  2. Our puppies are all crated until they are potty trained and dependable ( no chewing)........We also keep them in another room, lounge room, so that they do not become too dependent and cope with being away from us. Less stress for the dog in the future. Our dogs roam the house when they are well adjusted and behave.
  3. We used to breed, now we only have five Q-horse geldings and one Clydesdale. We have finally had lots of rain
  4. We used to breed, now we only have five Q-horse geldings and one Clydesdale. We have finally had lots of rain
  5. I love the stark white fluoro lights in contrast with the warm sunset
  6. Wow.......I loved the first pic
  7. this is mine.......Aperature f/5.6, shutter speed 1/15 and ISO 400 And this one was taken at sunset with the setting rays on Annabelle
  8. I love seeing all these pups to dog pics............here is my Tessa
  9. I posted this in another thread.............I love this picture. I am thinking of getting it put on canvas
  10. It depends where you train..........Some obedience Schools require all dogs to be up to date with vaccinations. But it is good to socialise.........And I don't think it is too late until after the second vaccinations, to be safe. Also, always make it a happy good experience. But do not allow the wild chases that happen at some puppy classes. I like to take my pups, but I actually pulled my newfie pup out of one class, because it was totally out of control. Two very strong pups just led and were allowed to terrorize all the other pups. That said I have been to some very enjoyable sessions, where the pups were allowed contact, but the rowdy ones were controlled. it is training after all. Having usually the largest pup, I also make sure my pup is not the one that does the terrorizing Most of all enjoy your pup and give it lots of time and fun. The best play-time is with regular friends. Our dogs love the play-dates and obedience training we do weekly
  11. Congratulations again everyone........everyone is doing so well
  12. I am getting boring here, but there is two more............ Firstly this one has the rising moon, with the last of the sun's rays on the branches I cannot leave out this picture, which I have posted before, but I just love my dogs And this is the last, i won't bore you any further..............I just like this series, because it was about the same/similar view, with different angles "10. Shoot it again with an alternative orientation. Just like I mentioned in point 6, always look to see if works as a vertical as well as a horizontal, or vice versa. Don’t just shoot the obvious" frame.
  13. Awwwwww thankyou mercedes. Did you see all the off lead we did on Tuesday. I laughed when Keith said "put your lead in your left hand only". I thought Oops :D been off lead since the circle work
  14. I feed twice a day for life...........3-4 times per day, depending on the pup. If the dog is overweight I just give two smaller meals. At our place our meals are equal sized. We have large dogs and there is always a possible bloat problem, we have been blessed and never had it in the last thirty years (touch wood)............but even our working kelpies get two meals per day.
  15. Same "landscape".........Different frame/angle
  16. I have a couple Lake Mulwala Murray River at Quat Quatta Forest Our north view
  17. Cogratulationn.............I truly respect the Agility people so much fun and control, Wow.............
  18. My Newfie Annabelle did a "sit stay" with kisses during a trial. The dog next to her, a friendly kelpie, came over to her and gave her lots of kisses. She did not move, she just looked at me with a WHAT look :p ................I am sooooooo proud of her I spoke to the Judge and he said, due to the fact there was no aggression, he thought it was better to not interfere as that might cause more disruption. This is the dog who was people/dog aggressive when we got her just over a year ago. She now has her CCD...........My sweet big girl
  19. You're very brave............And I am glad you got the help you needed. Digi will be well looked after. Hugs, Ronnie
  20. Congratulations Everyone Just add my own little Brag My Newfie Rescue girl got her final leg in her CCD today..............We even had a male Judge and she coped. That is such a big thing for her I am very proud of my sweet girl. So now we have Planhaven Lady Annabella CCD
  21. Well I am going and looking forward to learning more............See you there
  22. Digi grabs my arm and hand at times and I know he's playing. He is a beautiful dog and calm with me but when it comes to my son he isn't. Redarachnid To get Digi back to her would be a great expense to us both and more distressing for Digi I have spoken to the trainer we have seen and she is prepared to help with the person who Digi is placed with. Dee, Thank you for your kind words. This is the hardest thing I have had to do. xx I know that some would not agree with what I'm doing but after speaking with my trainer I know that it's the right thing to do for Digi and my son. I have a lovely woman and her husband coming out on Sunday to meet Digi, they have owned a Newfie before and I have explained the reason for the rehoming. Nothing is concrete yet we'll just have to wait and see. Sharon Oh Sharon I am so sorry....... I too have a newfie. She was people and dog aggressive, but her reason was due to the way she was treated in her first home. All my previous newfs have always been so soft with children and especially disabled children, because we did therapy work with them. The only other thing I can suggest is to contact newf rescue, they are diligent with placing rescues/re-homes. it is where my last two dogs have come from. Id you go to this site http://www.newfoundland-dogs.com.au/ You will find the rescue people. Or contact anyone in the contacts. it is a shame you are so far away from me, because I would love to help you. i live in Southern NSW. And that is too far away from you. It was a difficult decision for you, I just wish I could be more help...............
