Cruel Unsure Fine Comments: I feel sorry for any animals in pet shops, but I don't know much information on how they are taken care of etc while they are there 2. Would you consider buying an animal from a pet store? Yes No 3. Have you ever brought an animal from a pet shop? Yes No 4. Why did you get the animal from the pet shop? I didn't know anything about puppy farms etc at the time. So I thought it was ok and normal to get my dog from the pet shop, I don't regret getting my loving dog though. 5. 2. I am just a dog owner. I did do a few obedience classes with my dog but stopped last year and have continued to do it at home instead. I plan to get a second dog in the hopefully near future. We will probably rescue a puppy.
  3. Thanks Everyone. I am getting a bin today to seal the food in. I will leave the bag open for a while and see if they leave if not I might try sieve the food when I convert it into the bin.
  4. Anyone have any good tips on how to get ants out of dry dog food? I have a 20kg bag of Black Hawk food and I had the opening clipped. Obviously it was not sealed enough I am going tomorrow to get a big bin to store the food in but what can I do to get rid of the ants before then? Or should I leave it until then? I don't want to waste this much dog food!
  5. I only have the one dog in the household at the moment who as he has gotten older has less boundaries in regards to what he can do in the house etc as he has become pretty obedient in everything. We are planning to rescue a puppy when we move and will probably then have seperate rules like others have stated due to age and the personality of the dog. I don't see anything wrong with most rules being different.
  6. I have light blue sheets and a cream set. Both aren't to bad. Even though my dog is mainly black when I have black sheets on our bed you seem to see the white hair so much more! I wish I could have a nice doona set but yes Jet would cover it with dirt and hair!
  7. I am getting my delivery of my first bag of Black Hawk today or tomorrow I was lucky to find a supplier who is only 15 minutes away and drives near my house several times a week. Jet is doing really well on it. Hardly any scratching and he eats it straight away. When he was on other dry foods he used to leave it for a while and wasn't very interested. So very happy and impressed.
  8. OMG what a cutie. He is making me puppy clucky!
  9. I have been giving Jet one cup a day of BH and chicken necks or wings. He is only 11kg. So I hope that isn't to much?
  10. I would of freaked out two having two strange men giving off dodgy vibes like that! I bet your very glad you had your dog there!
  11. I got my sample bag yesterday and gave Jet a mix of BH & Advance for dinner. He actually picked out the Advance biscuits (which were 3 x bigger) and just scoffed down the BH. He obviously likes it a lot more as he would usually turn up his nose to Advance and not eat straight away. Will report back after a week. Hoping it will limit the itching.
  12. Is Zyrtec better the Claratyne? How much would I have to feed a 10.5kg dog? I am having issues with my boy at the moment
  13. Thanks to this thread I have become really puppy clucky again! squuuuuuuueeeee
  14. Very sad. I would like to know more details on why the dog may have attacked too.
  15. congrats! I love photos on canvas's
  16. Sherel - I have sent you an email
  17. I have looked into that before. I may in the future but I am not that concerned about finding out. I just call him a corgi cross when people ask what he is. That explains it best
  18. My own dog I was told he was a fox terrier cross.... I still have no idea what he is but he looks like a corgi cross border collie to me! He grew up to be this handsome boy.
  19. I'm sorry. What a horrible experience. I know how you feel. I go to walk my boy on lead down our road (he used to have fear agressive issues most of it is under control now but that's besides the point) and our d**khead neighbours leave there fence open where there dogs are running free in there yard and as soon as they spot my boy they come charging at us!!! There staffy x thing tried to bite Jet! I was so friggin angry I shooed the strange dog away and ran back to the house with Jet still onlead besided me. I was so proud of my boy though. No reaction out of him at all and he stayed calm when I was stressing about the situation. It could of been much worse and it seems like nearly everytime I am out enjoying the outdoors in public with my dog there are idiots around.
  20. I take my boy to dog parks for either the exercise or socialisation. Be aware that yes other owners aren't always as good when it comes to controlling and watching there dogs. When on a walk I would take a look at the park before you go in and just judge whether it would be safe to do so. If there are to many dogs in the offleash park I won't go in. If there are a couple then I usually go in but I do watch the behaviour of the other dogs and people beforehand and make my judgement whether it is safe to do so.
  21. I will check what brand spot on I used when I get home. He is a cross breed. Corgi x something. Only is 10kg, medium length hair. I just did some research on the Science diet and realised it was high in grains. I will go on a hunt with something low on grains since I was thinking about changing the food anyways.
  22. It was a spot on treatment and we have no cats (unless there are strays but I haven't seen any) I think he is about due for another spot on treatment in the next week or two. thinking about changing foods to a sensitive skin one like science diet anyways? or should I just go with a normal science diet until I find what the problem is.
  23. We do have a heap of dirt in the yard where the grass does not grow so I will test the dirt and take it from there thanks! Did you just add oil to his food or did you change the food you gave them altogether? He did have some flakey bits the other day when I was going through his fur. I changed their dry food and added the oil for a few weeks while they slowly changed to the new food. Then stopped the oil as their skin was heaps better and the food has emu oil which is great for their skin. Ok thanks!
