  1. I am going camping this weekend for two night. We are going up north which is about a 4 hour drive from home to a camping site on the beach where dogs are permitted. I was definitly planning to take my boy but now I am having second thoughts because according to the weather reports it is going to rain all weekend. We will be taking his crate, a long lead, pigs ears, toys. However he has my parent's to look after him if he doesn't come. What would you do? I don't want him to disturb other campers which I am not 100% whether he would if he was bored or not as we have never taken him camping with us before. Has anyone taken there dogs camping while it was raining?
  2. Thanks Everyone. Everywhere I seemed to search both in store and online didn't have any long enough.
  3. I am after something about 5 metres and has to be strong if he pulls which is most likely. Thanks huga for the offer. Someone has PM'd me so I will see what they can make otherwise I will come to you
  4. Thanks that is a good thought. I know you can get actual dog leads though which would come in handy for a lot of things.
  5. We are taking Jet camping with us in a weeks time which I am super excited about. He has to be either crated or on lead at all times though. I have tried previously to buy on of those long line leads or 'recall' leads which are a few metres long but can never find one longer then 120cm or something. Does anyone know where I could find one of these on short notice. I would prefer not online unless ofcourse I could get express postage. ETA: I am South of Brisbane, Logan Area.
  6. I don't see what the problem is of having dog who live outside. As long as they get the attention from there owners that they need still what is the problem? Where does my dog live? Mostly outside. He is in his crate inside when it is cold otherwise he is outside to sleep. He is happy with this and still gets plenty of attention. How often do I walk my dog? Once every few days or sometimes it can be more. As long as he has has mental and physical play/stimulation he does not need a walk at all. I like taking him for walks as often as I can though. Do I walk my dog Rain, Hail or Shine? No, I refuse to go outside in bad weather, plus I would prefer him not to get wet since he has a long coat.
  7. ohh I would love to do that Ahh that dates out for me. I am camping at Double Island that weekend so unsure when I will be heading back. I will try my best to make the next one!
  8. This is the right way to go about it I was just unknowledgable once (I know a lot of people who are) and I do agree with DR that some people here don't realise that there ARE people out there that don't know much but will try there best. I am talking about people who have a go at people less knowledge over some basic and small.
  9. I usually go to Alexandra Clark Park in Loganholme for the dog park but I know that could be a bit to much south for people. I know Wishart is a popular park but I have never been to any other one. I am happy for Sunday's mostly.
  10. Yes I need to go to a meet! Jet wouldn't be very socialable with his bouncy ball present but it is good for him to be around new dogs especially since I know you are all responsible!
  11. My Nana years ago when I was a child used to sneak her chihuahua in to a hotel. She would just stick her in the bag until they got inside.
  12. I might come Depending on dates and time.
  13. Happy Birthday Lottie. She is adorable!
  14. I am Jet's heart person. I am the only person he will come and cuddle constantly. Actually now that I think about Jessie (my families dog) loves me to pieces and I would be her heart person too. She barks and is the most excited when I come through the door, doesn't act like that to anyone else! I love my babies
  15. Jet got a bigggg bone for his birthday Oh and a puppy friend came around the play with him. My family & OH thought I was crazy for just doing that!
  16. Are you kidding??? I agree the dog should not start viciously attacking the child or even draw blood, but you would PTS if it even snapped near a child who had injured it? The OPs dog has not "chased down a child and killed it" so i don't even know why that was mentioned here... I am pretty shocked at that too. If you stood on a dogs tail or hurt it ofcourse its going to react. Maybe not in the biting way but some dogs will. I would never consider putting a dog down due to something like that. My dog was fear agressive. However not towards people but still the behaviourist worked wonders and I now have a well behaved dog and the past agressive ways are hardly seen if ever. I think the best thing is a behaviourist. I hope someone can recommend someone in WA for the OP
  17. Jet is a pet shop puppy. I don't regret it but now I know better. He has everything I want in a dog & honestly I hope my next dog will have his same qualities. He is perfectly healthy. I don't believe that when dogs come from a BYB or Puppy farm that means the dogs will be crawling with diseases all there lives, but you do get more certainty buying from a registered breeder which I will be doing for our next dog.
  18. Our vet won't allow you inside without having the cats in a crate or the dogs on a lead. I don't understand why other vets would allow pets to wonder around.
  19. Thank you for checking up on her. The lumps are still there but they have gone down a bit. No more redness. So I will put some more of it on her today & hopefully it will be fully gone soon.
  20. I feel the same. Jet is 'fear agressive' the most he has ever done is growl at other dogs. However I still go to dog parks and keep him away from other dogs unless I know them. When I see another dog approaching which I feel is to energetic or the size of the dog might worry Jet. I will leave. I won't trust other people to contain there dogs because I am unsure if they will. So in answer to the thread. I think it really depends on the dogs level of agression & the owners doing of controlling it.
  21. Thanks DeeLee. I will give that a go. Unsure what sort of allergy it would be. She has never had something like this. Oh sorry, I didnt mean she has had an allergy - its the resulting irritated skin from any localised licking and scratching that leads to infection. It may have started with an insect bite that she bothered, could be anything really. With Honey, it developed from her scratching at her rash. Thank you. Learning all this stuff still. First time the dogs have had that sort of thing.
  22. Thanks DeeLee. I will give that a go. Unsure what sort of allergy it would be. She has never had something like this.
