I think you have a significant stutter. Mine was when i ran our dog down a hill in sandals... I tripped and the dog dragged me along the road, the really old gravelly bitchumen, you know the hard stuff.. I got up and walked home, telling everyone that asked that I wa fine.. not realising I had a nasty hole in my knee. It was down to the bone, but in such a way they couldn't stitch or butterfly clip it... That ruined the rest of my christmas holidays as I had to stay in the house with my leg up... No going to the beach I remember sitting in the back of my dads saab with my leg in my mums lap, screaming as we went to hospital... Bundy nearly sent me eflying into the concrete fence at a neighbours a month or so back.. Their dogs jumped at the fence, i corrected him for trying to join in, he barrelled backwards and took my leg with him.. The neighbour saw it... She copped a mouthful for allowing her dogs to rush the fences... they always throw themselves at it and can get their heads through the bars... dangerous sods they are. Haven't seen them since though, i think they're kept inside now.

Do You Refer To Yourself As You Dogs "mum Or Dad"?
Bundyburger replied to shells's topic in General Dog Discussion
I only call them my 'babies' when I'm talking TO them, or sometimes someone will say 'you love your dog don't you' and I'll say without thinking 'he is my baby' I'm getting better at just leaving it at 'yes' though ... But generally when talking to other people it's 'the dogs' or 'the boys'(cos they are ) They know they are dogs, and they're treated like it too. -

We do here as well.. OH NEVER used to... but somehow he was the one that started it , it used to be a bit more over the top than it is now.. we've mellowed a little lol.. We also call them our 'babies' (me moreso) but they definitely aren't our furkids!! -
I can't say i've noticed my boy leaving his 'lipstick' out more after he's been desexed.. If it's going back in, then I don't think you've got anything to be worried about. My boy does it when happy, excited or just because.. I have a beautiful photo of him running on the beach.. and if you look closely, you can see it sticking out

Oh Sam... Sleep well Texas

As the others have said, he'll settle in the next few days... then he'll be the puppy everyone talks about!! Our boy was flat for a few days too, didn't really play much.. but after that it was game on

Vet reference, obedience club if you do it with your other dog, people who know you and can vouch for the care you give your animals etc...

Yep, GSD4EVER I think Lynne's username is. They are awesome, but expensive for regular treats if you're training every day.. i always keep some on hand though, so i can vary things up ;) My boy doesn't want to work for his dinner, he'll just spit it out... so thats why i do things the way I do.

I use Happy Paws, but I also use the ham and chicken loaf from coles.. Last ages and the dogs adore it... Other weeks he'll get 4legs.. depends on my budget.

Dog Hates New Neighbours :(
Bundyburger replied to MavericksMission's topic in General Dog Discussion
A run just makes him really frustrated. I think I am going have to look at rehoming. He is a generally happy boy, he is just spending too much of his energy focusing on how much he dislikes the neighbours. It may just be that somehow, the neighbour arriving was the last straw, and he just isn't built to live in the suburbs, he could be bored and not stimulated enough so needs to be somewhere he can be.... We are lucky with our kelpie that not only is he laid back, but we have a farm where we can take him for a week or so at a time so he can just run and run and run for days... and come home and be happy to chill again. Kelpies are incredibly smart, and if they don't get enough stimulation they go crazy.... -
Dog Hates New Neighbours :(

A run, or rehome... he sounds like he's got the potential to be a danger to himself if he takes to scaling the fence.. and it's a massive risk that he's getting into the neighbours yard. He just sounds like he's really not happy.... -
Honestly, I wouldn't worry about it yet!! We were concerned our boy would bark, but you know what.. he rarely does. He'll bark if he's scared (like when he met a cow on Saturday ) or when playing outside... He knows he's not allowed to bark when people walk past the house, or if other dogs do.. but occasionally he'll give it a shot. He was a very vocal growly puppy when playing, so we taught him 'quiet'. So now if he does decide to bark at someone, we just tell him quiet and he shuts up. Our neighbours have dogs that bark all the time, and ours don't even react at all.

I took a week for him to settle in, then it was back to work as normal. To me, you have to start as you mean to go on, otherwise it has potential to cause problems down the track. Some work places may not take kindly to you wanting to extend your break for an animal either. My boy was penned inside, but you know what.. if i was to do it again, I'd leave him outside from day one, as thats what we have intended to do from day one. As we didn't, it caused more problems.. but now he's fine outside.

Ours used to be inside down the back, but now they're outside all the time when we're out. They love it and are so much happier. Then when we come home all they want to do is sleep.

Rearend Awareness Training
Bundyburger replied to koalathebear's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Just to jump in here... I have started this too.. last night in fact. One dog will put his feet up happily. The other keeps insisting on sitting with his feet on the phone book.. as soon as he sees a treat he automatically sits down... So how should i fix it? Do i guide him up to a stand and place his feet? -
That's not so bad then My 18mth old doesn't even do 5kms....

You think kicking a puppy HARD isn't cruel? You have to be kidding me... I feel sorry for your puppy. You don't deserve to own a dog if that's how you treat it

Do Siblings Recognise Each Other
Bundyburger replied to Theresadn88's topic in General Dog Discussion
Yes they do. We had a brother and sister together for a year, then 2 years later they saw each other again.. and they knew. My boy met his sister after 4 months apart, and he knew her then too.. If he hears his breeder talking on videos he'll start to cry and bark -
You haven't fed him any Greenies? Although, my dogs poop was black the other day.. but I know what he'd been eating that he shouldn't have I'd be ringing the vet to talk to them..

You Know Your Dog Is Keen When...
Bundyburger replied to Vickie's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
When your dog lies next to you on the couch and cries because you haven't started training yet -
That is way too long a walk for a 4mth old pup

Yeah you're right, I know it's such a bad habit to google everything, I need to stop. He's had grass vomits before, and this is definitely different, it's a gagging type of cough/reflux thing like he'g going to vomit, and yellow phlegm came out. Our vet doesn't work Thursday's however I'll try and get him to see someone else at the practice. Hopefully he'll be okay! He will be fine Just take some deep breaths and book him in! It's always scary when our 'babies' aren't quite right.
-
Firstly, stop googling, there's no point when you don't know what the cause is. If the only symptom is some coughing, and he's still eating and bouncing around, it's not likely to anything too serious. Just try and book him into your vet today, if you're that concerned. Are you sure he hasn't just eaten some grass and just vomited bile back up? My pup used to do that a bit when younger.. he'd 'mow' the lawn, and then cough and splutter up bile because the grass irritates their stomach and makes them vomit. Just see what the vet says I'm sure he'll be fine.
