  2. What about a central coast host night? I reckon there would be a few people up here who would love to come and you can use my main yard and the poochies can be choofed into the other yard for a few hours Sorry for Hijack perthies
  3. Thanks Catzatsea - I'll look him up. I'd much rather titre test than over vaccinate if they do not need it. There is a lot of discussion that over vaccinating in malamutes could be causative of immune deficincies - gotta try get my hands on some of the research!
  4. Has anyone had any luck in getting dogs titre tested? I've asked and just got blank looks Just wondering if anyone has a vet who is willing to undertake this test rather thah a vaccination. Also interested in the sort of cost involved in the tests Thanks!
  5. I'm so sorry A lady on the malamute board I am a member of had similar news that her malamute had anal gland cancer. She did the operation to remove the cancer and then consulted Dr Martin Goldstein regarding holistic treatmet. The last post I saw was all good news so this might be worth looking into? I can put you in contact with her if you would like? PM me if you want me to get her email address so you can talk to her
  6. She is an absolute beauty and I am so so sorry for your loss. I'm sure she is watching over you and cherising all the love and wonderful time you spent togethor Run free Chilli
  7. I have an allergy diet written by a holistic vet and I am happy to email you the file if you send me a PM with your email addy. I'm a big fan of the oatmeal bath that dogbesotted suggested - it will be very soothing for her

  10. I'll take a punt Because you are his pack leader and he trusts you to protect him therefore unlikly to react unless you give him the green light to
  11. MyMuttRules - you wouldn;t happen to be Vern would you?
  12. What about Ross Allen's book on obedience training? He has a website but I cannot seem to find it - will keep looking though Found it ! here tis Ross Allan
  13. I wouldn;t mind an idea of the cost of their courses also. I tried looking through their site and there was no information there.... Distance education would be the only way I could complete the course
  14. Hi Pups Mum Advocate is now registered (? not sure if that is correct term) for the treatment of mites Mange is one of the few health issues I know anyything about (sadly) Cin
  15. Have you seen the thread on Henry the Dogue de Bordeaux in the rescue forum? If you search dogue de bordeaux you will find it Henry had an awful case of mange and our vet did some extensive research for us on how best to treat him. The thread goes through what we are doing but I am suprised that your vet has not reccomended twice werkly bathing and rinses Get yourrself some Pyohex shampoo and wash with that twice a week, It needs to sit on the skin for 10 minutes when yu lather it up. Follow that with an ectodex rinse sponged and rubbed into the skin. You get Ectodex from the vet and I think you can buy a similar one dectodex (?) from pet supply stores Once his hair starts coming back Aloveen conditioner is really soothing rubbed into the skin and coat after the rinse has dried You have to keep them warm when you wash them and in a draught free area. The rinse has to dry naturally and kills the mites Hope that helps a bit - worth trying??
  16. Are you bathing him twice a week? Poor baby - I do hope he gets better soon
  17. Looks like baby bottles is the way to go What sort of teat do you reccomend. I'm having a hard time getting them to suckle at the moment. All fared well during the night but I would like to see big round tummies on them
  18. I'm using the bottles and teats that the vets gave me. The teats are so long it is ridiculous! Look like they were made for giraffes! Having read those old threads I might hit up a friend for some baby bottles and latext teats? Mum is still cleaning them which is great but at the moment we have to keep them off her for 24 hours as she had an injection this morning. If pups are next to my bed during the night should I wait for them to wail as a sign they need feeding or set the alarm to do it? I'm sleep deprived............ Thank you so much for all your advice Cin
  19. Help please! I have a mum who had bubs on Friday night. Mum is a poundie and is so thin and sickly. She had 9 pups and sadly we have lost 3. I now have to hand feed the pups but everything I read about what and how often is conflicting I have Biolac which I am giving every two hours ish. Sometimes a little longer as I don;t want to wake them to feed as they get so unsettled when I do So I was wondering how often do you feed pups and what do you feed? When can i space out the feeds more? I saw on Leerburg a recipe for a formula for hand rearing it had evaporated milk, egg yolk, yoghurt, and water. Any tried this? When do I introduce food into their diet (too young now I know....)
  20. Hang in there - it can be beaten with time and patience Bommy has pretty much covered everything that we are using for Henry and if you pop into thr rescue forum and look at his photos from when we got him out of the pound and his latest shots you will see how rematkable his improvement has been Summary of what we are using is Twice weekly bathes with Pyohex shampoo followed by Ectodex rinses Fortnighly Advocate treatment Weekly injections with Dectomax (great stuff!) Herbals from Robert McDowell as reccomended for him - http://www.herbal-treatments.com/ Antiobiotics as prescribed by the vet
  21. Can you run it yourself or do you have to use a bike? I am thinking it might be a good way to get fit!! Oh and then there is the small issue of getting Charlie to behave on a flat collar... we use a martingale at the moment
  22. So it is an endurance test for dogs? Not sure my malamute would handle it and my cattle X is fear agressive so would be a bit stressed by all the other dogs... Do they have to do obedience at the end of it? Would there be a training club or group in NSW? Sorry for all the questions !
  23. Hi All I saw on another forum some people discussing taking their dogs on endurance running trials where dog and owner run a certain distance Does anyone know anything about this or can you point to some info. I did a quick search but couldn;t find anything It's probably this weeks dumb question Thanks Cin
  24. Groomers friend is where I have booked in to do my course but have had to put it off for a bit. She does one week and two week intensive courses and I spoke to a few people about her before booking in. All the reports I had back were that she really knows her stuff and is quite modern in technique her site is at www.groomersfriend.com
