  1. I hardly think I made an assumption - I did double check when I first noticed You said Cesar says pg 30 - Be the Pack Leader (also in his first book) "When you interact with your dog - especially when you're trying to correct out of control behaviour - you must train your mind to relate to him in this order 1. Animal 2. Species; dog (Canis familaris) 3. Breed 4. Name" So other than point 4 and you no including the latin you verbatim quote Caesar I'd love to know your qualifications. I've got no issue with you personally but I am sick to my back teeth of people sprouting their expertise on some very dangerous issues when they appear to have read a few books and watched cable.
  2. I thought Tess's comment was reasonable given we are in a training forum and not a "life skills" forum You know Tony the funny thing is that I recently bought his new book "Be The Pack Leader". I was 30 pages in and had to come on here and have a look at old posts because something was ringing a bell. Lo and behold - you were regurgitating his book without acknowledging the source funny that I even tagged the pages because I thought it so interesting
  3. Age unknown as it was a stray and no chip. Best guess around 4ish or so Has had a few litters I beleive (looking at her teats) I was thinking a prolapsed rectum? (That's after reading my Bruce Fogle vet care book)
  4. Eileen if it is enough to make you worried then I can PROMISE you that the time and money you spend with K9 will not be wasted. Even if it is not a fear issue I can guarantee you that you will not walk away learning anything and having an amazing resource to email and speak with e If you have any any doubt in your mind that your dog would be developing fear aggression then I really reccomend you seek the advice of an expert BEFORE things get out of hand. I'm not selling K9's business for him because he doesn't need my help. But having dealt with a dog who did have issues it is heart breaking and so much stress that could be avoided. Good luck
  5. A friend of mine called me tonight and he has an issue with a dog he rescued from his local pound. It is a female dog and she has something protruding from her bottom. I got him to take a photo so I could post to see what people think. I am thinking a prolapsed rectum? The bitch is booked to see a vet first thing in the morning (for desexing) and I think that if the dog is showing no signs of discomfort or pain that he would be Ok to wait until the morning. Unfortunately his emerency vet is not the best....... Any ideas?
  6. I think they are ugly and I don't say that lightly. I own a ridgeback and she is a babe but i don;t think I would want one of the thai ones Each to their own of course - eye of the beholder and all
  7. We travel from the Central Coast which is 2.5 - 3 hours - very much worth it
  8. We have sooo many flies here at the moment and they seem to have a particular fascination with Poor Henry. I've sprayed him with Permoxin but just wondering how often I can safely use it as it seems to only be effective on the day I spray it. Has anyone else got anything that is working well for them?
  9. I think I might just go get another syringe from the vet Laffi are you sure that dosage is right if the medication has 1.5mg per mL? Can you show me how to calculate that - how scary that I once wanted to be a human nurse ;) I am sure if I was feeling 100% myself I could work this out but right now my own head is pounding ...............
  10. Just trying to calculate that for 65 kilos into ml's The special syringe had the little doo hickies on the side of it I am an idiot when it comes to math Thanks Janba
  11. I've lost the special syringe that comes with Metacam and I'm having trouble remembering the dosage rate for dogs. Is there a calculator somewhere online that I could work out the mL amount to give? TIA
  12. Sas that would be great. Maybe we can catch up for coffee - i think we are like 2 blocks from each other  OT - shek I love that sig *swoon*
  13. Has anyone bought any of these? What did you think of them? There are so many Was looking at buying a few but wanted opinions first I have to say I am quite partial to his "Pack Leader" hoodie as well - yeh I know I'm a nerd

  15. Gone to the Dogs? I think thats it Peibe or BlueCollie would know I guess as they live up that vicinity
  16. Try Coast and Country Meats at Wyong. We buy 10 kilos of dog meat for around $15 or so dollars and it is just the left over meat minced and frozen. A box of bones is around $4??? For 3 large dogs we spend about ummm $30 a fortnight on meat for them and that is a huge amount with usualy a lot left over Gillbear also said there was somewhere near Mingara that has cheap meat but I forget where - maybe send her a PM?
  17. Well I used to dabble with landscapes when I had my old film camera but hese days lots of dogs pictures - so action shots as they are always racing around at the beach and stuff I do like macro as well. I guess I want a camera to get me back into a bit. I have a Nikon D70 and just don't like it compared to my old Canon film camera. I wish I had stuck with the Canon when i swaped to digital. I'm trying to find something that will keep me going for a while but also mindful of price as I am swapping cameras again. I will sell the D70 and it's two lenses though (not sure what i would get?)
  18. I am looking online at prices for cameras as I really want to sell my Nikon and get a Canon. Looking at pricegrabber I can see a huge difference in the price between a 20D, 30D and 40D. Is there much of a difference as I can pick up a 20D body for around $699 Also can I ask what lenses to get? Should I just get the kit lens or something else. Maybe a 17 - ?? and a longer lens up to say 200, 300 as well My head hurts looking at all these different prices and models
  19. It's a horrible disease but it is treatable so try not to let it get you down. Did the vet reccomend Pyohex shampoo? It's very good and I found it so soothing for them PM me if you want some help
