  1. so what happens the 1% of the time she ignores you and what happens if it's one of those awful little dogs she hates? Neither you or your dog are as good as you think.
  2. I can control my dogs perfectly well while on lead but they are not allowed off lead in Victoria so very hard to train a really reliable recall. Plus I would be a fool to ignore their breed and what they were bred for.
  3. No way, the 2 shows I was show secretary for this weekend had an entry of 9 on Sat and 8 on Sunday. Some groups did not have a single entry. Lets crawl before we walk.
  4. that would be so me as well This is a totally different situation where your dog was actually set upon. And totally understandable you would be upset. yes and if Iwalked around the corner and saw yet another off lead dog, I possibly would confront them very aggressively. I am aware of my faults, and the faults of other people and other dogs, so tend to not walk my dogs around the streets. I go to the greyhound slipping track but not many people can do that.
  5. Catch 22, damned if you do damned if you don't. But if everone thinks like you SP neuter classes will never be well supported. But I do understand where you are at. It's up to the exhibitor.
  6. I am pretty sure all of Victoria is on lead unless in a designated area. I knew a very well trained dog who once, and once only, forgot his training. And ran out onto a road. Pity it cost him his life.
  7. Really? I can honestly see why Victorian clubs are hesitant to offer it... I was told on the weekend OVCC was the first all breeds club in Victoria to offer Neuter class. I don't know if that is true or not. But it has to be given a chance to kick off.
  8. Really? I can honestly see why Victorian clubs are hesitant to offer it......7 (missed my Toller boy ) neuters in the whole show. Was a good weekend, though we didn't set up or stay long. My only grumble is today trying to track down challenges after group had finished. No one knew who was writing them out, so had to personally go around asking everyone if they were doing it or knew who was, eventually found her. Though not happy about being told if I couldn't find them before I left that it was tough luck and I wouldn't get them at all. I didn't care about them not being done on Saturday as I was back the next day but when you have a 4-5 hour drive and you want to leave so you can get home at a decent hour it would be nice if someone actually knew who the ticket writer was and where to find them. Apart from that, it was a smoothly run show and I really enjoyed the location oops sorry will go back and add him in. Umm no it would not have been tough luck, they only had to ask me , mind you I have had the same trouble myself at some shows, go find so and so, surely you know him/her, um no that's why I am asking

  11. I think it is fairly safe to say, if you are not in a designated off leash area, your dog needs to be on one. As for the yelling man, it sounds over the top, but maybe he had just had a bad experience, maybe even just before he met you, and one more off leash dog made him blow his stack. It happens, we are human and not perfect and neither are our dogs. Personally I know I can get very loud and very aggressive if I have just had a fright over something.
  12. to everyone for a great two days of showing. Judges, Stewards, Committee and Club Members, Volunteer's, (or spouses made to come along, not sure which ) and of course all the Exhibitor's. As a first time show secretary I got some great help from people and learnt a lot. There are already discussions about improving things for next year, but one thing that is happening for sure is; NEUTER classes are here to stay! Now a couple of found announcements. One slicker brush, fairly distinctive One ground mat, also fairly distinctive. Email me if you think they are yours describing them. They can be delivered to the Thurgoona shows and possibly to Melb. THANK YOU ALL

  16. When is that Trish? there are 3 shows on there in a fortnight and then there are another 3 in August, brilliant grounds and facilites, food is a bit ordinary.
  17. back from vets, now will be taking two greyhounds to the show, as Piper can't be left at home. Looks like a nail strike from one of the other dogs, ripped the webbing between the toes, very ouchy. Thanks Dyzney The ones left to finish up will have done a great job, they have been doing it for longer than me
