  1. Okay here is my additions to the 'what not to wear' being a kid though you can kinda get away with much more than usual Thats myself and Ch Wellind Lilriva Sundancer at Wangaratta in 1986, we won best baby in show that day! the clothes are bad enough but white socks and red shoes, put a huge curly haired wig and i could of joined the circus! Skirt short enough? LOL me and Ch Yangvews Aussie Girl at Lillydale KC in 1998 Me and Ch. Byalong Buddy in 1996. Pink silk shirt and multicoloured vest.. god only knows what i was thinking there. And proberly the worst of the lot, me and Kokoda Storm Cloud at one of the first shows at KCC Park. The socks, the long skirt and remember those shoes that had the silver shinny bits on them?...hideous!
  2. Also with the toy group being inside and very little space at the entrance to the ring, some toy exhibitors have several exhibits 4+ dogs and when we were outside, you could easily just roll your trolley up to the entrance and show your dogs and then roll the trolley back to your gazebo. Now, you cant do that. A few weeks ago i was showing just a dog and a bitch and i would of brought the trolley ringside but after id shown my bitch, i had to run back to the trolley to bring my dog back for BOB which held up proceedings. At the toy club last year i had four dogs entered and we were nowhere near the ring entrance, in fact you couldnt even push a trolley past the ring entrance because of so many people there, and it was ridiculous, as i was showing the dogs, my mother was going back and forth to the trolley around near the cafe entrance and swapping dogs for the next classes, then there were run offs! OMG i was bloody glad it was all over in the end! Because i used to show Bostons, we tend to go for a walk and have a chat with the the group 7 people at a show, we also had Kelpies and have friends in group 5 and sometimes i have helped show friends dogs for them. I had a Vizsla many years ago and even now i like to check out the catalogue and see what the dogs are looking like today. Not everyone sits at the shows and doesnt talk to anyone from the other groups. In fact, there are quite a few people who have two breeds from different groups at a show, what a pain in the backside having a group 1 dog and a dog from another group. I can think of three people off the top of my head.
  3. Indoors at Bulla as far as weather is concerned is great. Not just wet days but hot days are quite pleasant inside. Some of my dogs are fine indoors, some are awful. As for space, if you dont arrive at 7am, you dont get a spacious spot on the fenced off area to park your gear. Ive arrived at 8:30am a few times and had to park next to a wall between the ladies and mens toilets which dont smell especially nice! Also having a child and bringing a few toys to amuse him whilst im grooming and showing, forget it....no room. Id rather be outside in the wind and the cold with my gazeebo up and plenty of room to have my trolley and chairs and junk about and relax like usual! Seeing whats going on in the other rings? Forget it, being an ex group 7 ex group 3 ex group 5 exhibitor i like watching whats going on around the rings. But now we are segregated when really there was PLENTY of room before.
  4. Will be my first time coming to this venue, will be bringing some Cresteds and camping, looking forward to catching up with some other Crested breeders from up that way :-)
  5. Im going to miss out on showing my 4 Cresteds on the first two days because of work that has come up since entering, but will be there on the Monday :-)
  6. My hairless boy Ch. Chinkie Yen Special Gift won Best Of Breed today, not bad after having a huge 7 month break. Go Quigley!
  7. I second Vic, he is a good steward and when we have 200+ dogs in group 1, if he isnt in charge i know it going to be a long day, No one else organises certain breeds better (I wont name the breeds, but the exhibitors are hopeless at knowing which dogs they own are supposed to be in the ring) Another is Len Goffin, he is a lovely personable guy and one that no longer stewards, but was absolutley brilliant, Reg Crabb. We miss him :-(
  8. Ill be coming with some Cresteds. Havnt been to Lang Lang show for about 15 years. I too am looking forward to an outdoor show after last weekend!
  9. I got mine monday and im not far from you so i think you should of got them by now, is your cheque cashed?
  10. Your think Mr and Mrs Joe Public get it wrong... how about the Ring announcer at this years Royal Melbourne Show who introduced the Boston Terriers as 'British Terriers' and then another day, same announcer, introducing the Border Collies as 'Border Terriers' There might of been alot of articulated and interested people at the show, and i did indeed find some, but very few. Most children were very aware of asking before touching, but the teenagers and people in their early 20's had no hesitation in sticking their hands into the trolleys to have a pat (grope) and thus being snapped at. Even with a warning from myself saying 'please dont touch the dog, he is sleeping' they didnt listen.
