    Rip 'billy'

Shona my heart goes out to you and OH rest in peace little guy
  2. Thanks guys the owners returned today and collected Bella (I put her in a kennel) then went and collected Mika's body from the vet. Yes they were very thankful that I was with him to the end at the vets and he did not die with strangers. And they asked all the questions and through my tears I answered and they also said it was not my fault and they were thankful Bella never got hit as well. I still feel bad but now I am not blaming myself. thankyou, no one else understood a lot said it was only a dog.
  3. How do I explain this to his owner though, if I drove past they may have gone home, I am so upset I know I should not blame myself but I do. Poor Mika was only 12 months old and so beautiful. If it wasnt for me he would not have even come near the vehicle. I just feel so damn guilty.
  4. Today we were on our way to the pound when I saw 2 GSD's We stopped and I said to my partner dont get out yet the male can be aggressive as I know the dogs. I got out on the roadside as I was driving and the male came running around wagging his tail. A new south wales tourist with a caravan came flying along the road and nearly hit me and hit the dog. They did not slow down nor did they stop, we took him to the vet but he passed away, someone had opened the gate and the owner is away. I have never cried so much and I think that if the dog did not know me he would not have been hit, he may have stayed on the footpath. I had to ring the owner who is absoloutly devastated.. Rest in peace Mika you beautiful boy, your mate is safe. Play with my Riley and be happy as I am still crying hours later.
  5. Well I would say that puppy sure has you worked out When my old dear departed Vizsla Abby entered our lives she would eat nothing she was bubbly and shiny too and ate nothing but barbecue chicken, the vet put her on nutrigel for vitamins and I used to buy red rooster bbq chooks, worst thing I ever done up until she died at 13.5 she ate nothing but chicken. Oliver tried the same and I just leave him, he eats his tea about 3am usually so I just leave it for him, if I feed chicken wings he absolutely gobbles them up.
  6. how exciting for you I will cheer for the vizslas too
  7. Shilo that is great please do not do the sinbin thing at all, he is only a baby and dont forget to get his hernia fixed. cheers

  9. Oh poor you and poor puppy are you sure he does not have a tender spot, and it hurts when you pick him up, I have had 4 Vizslas and not one of them was like that but I never had to SINBIN mine either, maybe he is just trying you out. All the Vizsla puppies I have had have been pushy and grabbing you is part of puppy play, I obedienced trained them but they were not what I would call over the top. I agree with Sidoney go to the website.
  10. Hi ALIbear new friend and Bear friend of Kim I use that fish scaler thing but only when they have been hydrobathed and wet gets rid of heaps of hair and then I use a brush thingy that is purple and has like bent over pins it is great for when the girls are dropping coat.
  11. RIP you old sweetie she was beautiful I just love wolves.
  12. I do for I go to shows, board my bitches in season and I work with dogs all day and at the pound where some months Parvo runs rife. I also leave my work shoes out the front .Maybe I am just weird.
  13. My cats get their dry left on the washing machine where the dogs can not get it and are fed wet food at 6pm (cant stand 4 cats screaming at me) the dogs get fed their main meal used to be at 6pm but is now later because it gets to hot here, then I leave a boowl for a night snack, and that is usually at 3am. Then they have breakfast in the mornings depending on time I go to work. I tried one of those self feeders and they ate the plastic bit. Your dogs are probably used to being fed at a certian time so I think it may be easier to feed the cats up high as suggested and stagger the dogs meal times making it at all different times and gradually leave extras.
  14. Holey Dooley I would just buy a hydrobath, mine is 10yo and I only paid $300.00 second hand and I wash friends dogs for free. The mobile pet bath here is only $10.00 a hit.
  15. Why dont you just put pot plants up there so the poor little picked on pussy in this thread cant sit there. I thought you were animal lovers on DOL but I am beginning to have lots of 2nd thoughts. have you seen what grease can do to a cat, and chilli powder that is just a cruel thought.

:p so sorry May your heart be glad he would not want you to be sad he lived his life to the full and was with who he loved and loved him back he will be waiting for you at the bridge when your time does come hugs and condolences
  17. My dogs love any horse feed sure it wont hurt unless puppy has an allergy. There is a good book or 2 by Pat colby one for dogs and 1 for horses both are great
  18. My Vizsla IKE had brain damage he was not born with it, It was not his fault he had it my stupid DIL took him to far for a walk and cooked his brain. She had to eventually half carry him home and he was at the stage of purple tongue and bulging eyes by the time she got him home. He was finally stabilised after 12 hours but was never the same after that. After he bit me the third time I had him PTS. He was 5 years old.
  19. Go and ask the vet for the stuff they use when a parvo case has been in. We use it at the pound and I keep a bottle in the work car to scrub out the back as at times parvo is rife here. I just went to have a look but the label has worn off. I will try and find out the name of it tomorrow.
  20. Mum of 2 labboys, Hi here is my 2 cents worth. When Kim had her 1 and only hotspot I rubbed Malaseb into it and left it to dry next morning no hot spot. I also give my dogs yoghurt, plain until they see daddy eating strawberry then they want that as well. So they get yoghurt daily. When Riley was alive he always stunk and got some spots so I gave him the yoghurt and bathed him in Malaseb each week, the smell went and the spots disappeared. My friends labs were always having ear problems and hotspots and she gave them yoghurt and cider vinegar in their meals it solved 90% of the skin problems.
  21. Symptoms of Doggie Dementia, aka DISH: Disorientation: dog seems confused, doesn’t always seem to know where it is. Interactions: decreased or altered responsiveness to family members. Sleep: dog’s normal sleeping pattern changes. Housetraining: dog loses its housetraining habits. This was Abby.
  22. She was on Metcam for pain relief but appeared drugged, and at her age I let her be the puppy she wanted to be. I just hung up the washing at night while she was inside and OH concreted under the fences so when she dug she could not get out, then just filled up the holes everyday. Ring your vet and ask them but honestly I would rather my dog play puppy than be in a drug induced coma. Hope you find a soloution that suits
  23. I trained my boxer with the choker tug and let go method, I trained Kim the same way then I went to some classes with a police dog handler which was no tug and let go but lots of tasty morsels. It took me a long time to get co ordinated but it is a much better way and Elka and I are about to have food obedience lessons. She loves food so this should be a breeze
  24. He is probably getting senile and has gone back to his puppy days. My old Vizsla Abby who passed on at 13.5 years went like that at about 11years, she always came to the horse paddock with us every day of her life and 1 day she wandered off, I could see her in the distance but because she was deafish she could not hear me. I had to go and get her. She was wandering around in circles with a look on her face saying where am I. After that she was on a lead. She begun pulling clothes off the line and digging and all those other naughty puppy things. We made sure she could not dig under to get out. So I would guess he has dementia.
