  1. I'm allowed to vent Sheridan. I have owned this dog for 8 years and tried to do the right thing for him. I think I have put up with a lot more than many dog owners would with his antics. I'm just over it.
  2. I don't care about some of the stuff. But all the other items I need for my rescues - cat collars, bulk cat food, paperwork, etc. All the fabric I use to make show curtains and donut beds - thats all wrecked. Our garage is set up like a games room - there's a pool table, couches, rugs, etc. He has pissed on the legs of the pool table and on the computer and the rug, pulled the cushions off the couches and pissed on them, etc. If he had just eaten the cat food I could understand it. I just don't get why he has to ruin everything.
  3. It has always been him and at least one other dog. I walk them in pairs so he gets a fair bit of time with me. He has to be supervised 100% inside because as soon as you take your eyes off him, he will get up and eat the cat food or cat litter or pee on something. He just has to push the boundaries constantly. Constantly. If you tell him to do something, he will look at you and wait until you get up or make him do it, etc. He is just constantly testing to see what he can get away with. At our old house I would always know when he had done something naughty because I'd come home and he'd be hiding. I'd be calling and calling and he wouldn't come. Sure enough, look around and you'd find something he'd destroyed. He used to jump our 6 foot fences and steal shoes from the neighbours houses. I kept finding shoes in the yard and couldn't work out where they were coming from. He would jump the fence, steal some shoes and bring them back. One day we came home earlier than usual and he wasn't in the yard. We went searching and found him hours later, hiding in a bush in our front yard. He had been there the whole time.
  4. He is Champa. He can be so good sometimes, but then he goes and does something like this. I just can't deal with him. He is a Lab x GSP and he is very strong. The garage door is tin, he has just pushed and pulled at it enough to make a gap he can squeeze through. He couldn't get back out though which is how I know it was him.
  5. He has always done things like this. At our last house, he smashed the window in the garage to get in there. He trashed that too. That was 5 years ago and he is still doing the same crap. The cat food bag was unopened so he couldn't have smelt it. He is just so destructive. He stills pulls washing off the line sometimes, he destroys every bed and every coat and every collar that I put out. He is the only dog who wears a collar because he has eaten the others off the other dogs.
  6. I don't even know where to begin to start cleaning it up. It is so disgusting. Its all ruined. He has wrecked the garage door getting in there. Its all bent, the lock is broken.
  7. I just opened my garage door to find it completely trashed. Every box and bag ripped open and the contents strewn from end to end. My special treasures, my fabric and stuffing, my cat stuff - everything everywhere. The 8kg bag of cat food is empty and there is dog poo and dog piss everywhere. My stupid bastard dog has gotten in there again. He has broken the lock on the back door and gotten in there again. I can't do this anymore. I hate him. I hate him so much. Why does he do these things? He is 8 years old, he is not a puppy. He has bones and toys and a full tummy. He has the other dogs to play with. He gets regular walks. I can't stop crying. I feel sick. All my things are ruined. Why does he keep doing this? He has always been so destructive but I kjept thinking surely he will outgrow it. The couch and rug in there are ruined. I just can't cope with him anymore. I feel like I am going to be sick.
  8. I tried nailed down carpet but they just dug at it until it shredded. Same with the trampoline beds. They do drag the blankets out but I just give them a good shake and put them back.
  9. Just glad to have you back Jed.
  10. I have recently started to use blankets in the dogs house (cubby) and it so so good! Wish I had thought of it earlier. My dogs destroy beds within days. I was sick of coming home to fluff everywhere. So I went to the op shop and bought a few blankets. Yes, they still drag them out sometimes and chew them a bit, but there is never the mass destruction that used to happen. I got three woollen blankets for $5 each.
  11. That's not fun. The toy issue is a hard one, but I would crate Mia at meal times. It doesn't 'fix' the problem, but it prevents it. Also make sure you pick up the bowls as soon as both dogs have finished.
  12. Yes, I buy huge bones for my dogs. The butchers always ask if I want them cut up - nup, last longer this way!
  13. My dog is a crossbred, but I get sick of people telling me he is 'too skinny'. He mostly looks like a Labrador but he is crossed with a GSP so is much finer. He is NOT skinny! He is trim and healthy! Perhaps I should ask if they would like to pay for surgery on his bung shoulder if I fatten him up to suit them.
  14. We are talking about dogs here aren't we? :D Have you ever looked at the manky bones your dog drags around? :p
  15. I don't know if I have "a" breed. I love lots. I have a special spot for Great Danes because of my first girl. She was just amazing. I have always loved the herding breeds and can't see myself ever being without one of them. I am now also head over heels for Greyhounds. I like Frenchies and Newfoundlands too. My all time favourite breed is the Bull Terrier but I can't see me owning one any time soon. One day.
  16. We have those collars at my work but we've never been able to make one 'work'. They just don't seem to fit many dogs properly. We also found that the dog can squash the side against a wall and rub the eye. For eye surgery, the bucket collars really are the best.
  17. I visited a puppy farm and the farmer boasted that she was able to 'cut corners' because she was buddies with the ranger who did the inspections. She very rarely had inspections and when she did, she was given fair warning by the ranger. He would then also 'overlook' any problems she had. How do you stop that?
  18. Forgot to add myself. Dog list: Lucycharzie: CHARLOTTE Lappiemum: Bear, Tasha and Sohvi Pointees - April, Alexis and Shaun. Canine Friend - Dexter pip1981 - Dakota and Tika kirty - Maisie and Pia (maybe Phoebe) Food List Lucycharzie: Salad and low fat Brownies Lappiemum: chicken tender kebabs, plates, cutlery, cups, sauces, napkins, cooking gear Pointees - fairy bread and pigs ears Canine Friend - some kind of quiche (that can be eaten cold) pip1981 - Noodle salad, honey soy chicken wings and soft drink kirty - potato salad and sausages maybe?
  19. There is an English Pointer at the LDH in Melbourne. Possibly a cross or a badly bred one though. Does anyone do breed specific rescue for these guys? You can see him by clicking the link below. http://ldhpets.sheltermate.com/animal/anim...&statusID=3
  20. There is a post in the rescue thread about these dogs. Apparently 10-11 dogs have been taken in by a rescue group. They urgently need foster carers and donations for them.
  21. No, not a shunt. It just stops the stitches pulling through. Be very careful with the bucket though - we had someone take their dog's bucket off 'only while she was watching' and the dog managed to pull some stitches out!
  22. So I bloody hope that this club is investigating this person. Well, thank goodness for that. The dogs can freeze to death and live in filthy conditions, as long as she isn't breeding them.
  23. We use Carprieve at work but am unsure about the stone side of things. Does your vet know about his history? If so, they should have taken that into account when prescribing it for Tango. If you are unsure, call them up and ask.
