It is absolutely disgusting what happened to this cat. I seriously hope they catch whoever did it and throw the book at them. And I hope the owners of the cat will keep any future cats safely indoors. Now, everyone knows that I am a crazy cat lady. I love them to bits. But I'll tell you why some people hate cats so much. Because other people let their cats roam. Roaming cats are a nuisance. Roaming cats kill wildlife and leave the remains on someone else's property, they crap in people's gardens and in children's sand pits, they fight which is noisy and upsets people's dogs, they piss on people's cars and front doors, they sit on your outer window sill and cause problems between your indoor cats... If you love your cat, keep it INSIDE!!

Thanks for that. :D Birches only take small dogs, which would be perfect for some clients, but not all our patients are small unfortunately. But I have added them to the list.

goofy, how do you know that a purchase is successful? I'm quite sure that a customer is not going to return and tell you that they gave the dog away or dumped it at the pound. Sorry, but you are right - your replies have not changed MY mind one iota.

We are trying to find somewhere that our clients and their pets can stay after surgery. The dogs need to be checked the next day, and some people come from all over Victoria. We are unable to keep the dogs in overnight as our place is not staffed overnight.

I once booked a cat on a flight through Dogtainers and when I turned up with the cat, the person had booked it as departing from Sydney instead of Melbourne!! I KNOW I confirmed Melbourne when I booked it. Thankfully, the staff at Australian Air Express were FANTASTIC! They helped me and managed to get her on a flight anyway so she arrived on time. :D

I was speaking to a vet at work about spay incontinence, and in her experience, she said early desexed bitches did not appear to be affected any more than any other age bitch. She said it is all due to hormones, and any spayed bitch can get it, regardless of age.

I take it this does not apply to Victoria either?

I am always cautious about rehoming dogs with issues to families with kids. Because the kids (as they should) will always come first, which doesn't always bode well for the dog if it snaps. These kids are older though so perhaps they will understand not to push her, etc. I would ask the family to take her along to a behaviouralist for a meeting so she can be assessed and they can hear exactly what the dog needs, what her issues are, how much work it will be, etc.

Gorgeous photos everyone! I have never managed to get all four dogs together in a photo, except for on their bed inside. This will have to do for now, will make it a goal to get some better ones. My four dogs and a ring-in. ;)

A lady I know received an email because she is a registered microchip implanter. It contained info regarding new laws that are currently being brought in. Apparently they have already been approved? They included higher registration fees, higher fines for having too many animals or unregistered animals, more power for councils to destroy animals, changes to BSL and other things. It was very scary. I will try and get a copy of the email tomorrow but did anyone else get it?

PF, the Brighton dog beach is also not particularly people friendly. It is around a marina, you certainly wouldn't swim there and there is nowhere particularly suitable for a picnic, etc. It is fully fenced for the sole purpose of being a dog beach.

Well if you want an orginal name, you could call her Taylorbelle - which is what my kids named one of our foster kittens!! ROFL!!

Sorry, but what is $120 compared to the life of your dog? And her pups? That is actually very CHEAP for an emergency consult (its $200 here) so I would be putting her in the car and going right now.

How ridiculous. How can one small country have such varying laws about EVERYTHING! If they were in NSW, they could keep it as a house-hold pet. In Vic, you need a permit and a cage. In SA, you might reintroduce it to sheep country? WTF? Its like QLD and its rabbits - dudes, there are already LOTS of wild rabbits in QLD, a few pet bunnies aren't going to make a difference!
