Are people allowed to bring their own dogs?
-
No. I have a lot of animals and there is a delicate balance! Without me being there to supervise, there is no way I'd let someone bring a strange animal into my house.
-
Do you know, I don't think they have had much experience with grass! Tilly is totally freaked out by the grass - the way she walks on it is like a cat with wet paws! The first few days she was here, she was crated whenever she wasn't with me. I would take her out and walk for up to an HOUR and she refused to go. She would hang on as long as she could, then end up peeing in the crate.

There is a lady on Cat-World selling brand new snugglesafes for $45 plus postage. If you join C-W and look up the member 'Sherin' she can get them for you.

I'm not what conditions she was being kept in before, but I suspect it might have been a yard because she paces a lot. Not sure. I have just put her in her crate (on the deck) and she has finally settled. Poor thing. I will let her out in an hour and get all the dogs to hang out on the grass, hopefully she will go then. She won't go on lead or when I'm watching.

Its hard to block off the deck though because thats where my other dogs sleep. And she will NOT toilet in front of me so I can't praise her when she goes. I might lots of beds out though to try and cover the whole deck. She does not toilet in her crate at night so thats a start. Can't lock her in there all day though! :D

My new foster Dally is pooping and peeing on the deck. My deck is only small (may 5m x 2m) and its where the dog's cubby (bed) is. They also eat up there. The yard is huge and I don't care where they toilet down there, but not on my deck! I have cleaned it up several times with detergent but she keeps going there. Any tips to stop her?

The Bulldogs I have met all have respiratory problems, ALL of them. They often have entropion and extra eyelashes, which can cause eye ulcers. They also seem to be prone to allergies. They can't handle the heat or lots of exercise. And they have a fairly short lifespan. And the so-called 'healthier' Aussies are exactly the same (if not worse).

I would carry a stick. My dog has been attacked twice and as a result, he is sometimes dog aggressive. I worry more now about him attacking an offlead dog than vice versa. I always mean to carry a stick but end up forgetting. I should really do it. It might not do much in the heat of a full-on fight, but if you can get a whack in before the attack, it should deter the dog.

I would try using Revolution instead of Frontline for two months and see if that helps. You could do one dose now and then another 3-4 weeks later.

I think $3000 is a high price to pay for a dog that might end up costing a lot in vet bills and that is not a particularly healthy breed.

My dogs are pretty good at not running around in front of me, but they walk so close behind me that they trip me up from behind! It drives me crazy! They bump into the back of my legs, and even more annoying, they stand on the back of my shoes so I fall over or lose my shoe. Its so annoying. I find myself walking along, kicking my heels up behind me to try and keep them at bay. Does anyone else's dogs do this? Is there anything you can do?

OMG so cute!!!

Children aren't 'neglected' as such, they are just dirty, bogan kids. The other night (about 11pm) I heard kids talking - looked out to see 5 kids walking up the middle of the road. Our house is right near the corner and cars often come flying around it. There were three teenage kids and two littles (maybe 5yo?). All from that house.

She knows where I live. I foster cats and dogs and if the council found out about the extra animals, I'd be in trouble. And knowing the RSPCA, they will say she has food, water and shelter - she is fine.

Haha! I have a Greyhound puppy (10 months old) and she is naughty too! I managed to teach her to sit but she won't drop. So I scoop up her legs and lay her on her side! LOL! She is such a dag.
-
They don't walk her, and sorry, but I refuse to believe that a family like this would NOT know that a dog needs to be desexed, washed, see a vet, etc.

Ivy, Puck is a Whippet and the new girl is a Greyhound. Hence the size difference.

In the first week that we lived in this house, a tiny Beagle cross turned up at our house. She was filthy dirty, entire, very skinny and had terrible skin allergies. She was totally unsocialised (wanted to kill my big dogs) and very timid. I called the council who came to collect her, left my number in case she wasn't claimed, but never heard any more. Well yesterday the same dog showed up again. She was even skinnier this time and even more timid. We were getting into the car at the time, so I grabbed her, put her in the car and decided to take her to the vet to be scanned. As we drove down the street, I saw some people looking for her and my heart sank. There is one dodgy house in our street, about 10 people live there and its just horrible. The kids are always filthy and out at all hours, last time they had a party all the windows of their OWN cars were smashed, all the neighbours letterboxes were damaged or spray painted, etc. No wonder this poor little dog was in such a bad way. I wanted to hide her away and protect her, but of course the law prevents that. I drove down to the vet, hoping that I could leave her there but unfortunately it was closed. As I went to leave, the owner pulled up in her car. I can't afford to cause any problems with my neighbours, so I got out and asked if she was looking for a dog. The woman acted all happy but the dog was terrified of her. I can't stop thinking about her. Poor little dog. If she turns up again, I will call the council again. Perhaps they won't collect her next time and she will get a chance with some decent owners (our council pound is connected to a shelter).

Perhaps people like Kazzie should spend a day at my work, meeting owners with dogs blind from PRA at 2 or 3 years old. To think that these problems could be prevented with a DNA test breaks my heart.

I am so sorry WP. She looked like a stunning dog and you were lucky to have each other. RIP gorgeous Tina.

Yes but surely you would want to start with good dogs! What is the point of building up numbers if all you are doing is filling the country with dodgy dogs! Knowing the results of such tests doesn't mean you have to throw out all the bad ones, but rather you keep and breed the better ones. And if they are all bad, well you breed the best of the bad and aim for something better. If you don't know what you have, how can you improve?

They have obviously lifted photos from somewhere. And the wording! OMG! Say what?

percyk, my cats are strictly indoor only and the dogs are only inside when we are home. The cats and dogs are never ever unsupervised together. And I am particularly cautious with Phoebe because she is very excited by the cats. I don't trust the dogs with the cats, especially when they are all together. Its just not worth the risk.
