  1. I'm so sorry. RIP sweet kitty.
  2. Perhaps she has two uterus's? A human woman just gave birth to twins from different wombs - very rare but obviously possible. Or perhaps the vet did a shonky job!
  3. Perhaps a contraceptive would be useful instead?
  4. I keep watching it - its too cute. Dharma is such an idiot! LOL! And I love Maisie standing in the middle like "What the hell are these morons doing?". LOL!
  5. I got this video of Dharma and Ziggy playing at the beach today. Make sure you have the sound on! LOL! Dharma starts these little play sessions, but squeals like an idiot the whole time! LOL!
  6. On Wednesday night, our beautiful family dog Paddi was put to sleep. She was almost 18 years old. Paddi was bought from a pet shop (naughty I know) for the grand sum of $25. We thought she was a boy, so named her Paddy (Irish for Patrick). When we got home and realised she was a girl, we changed the spelling. She was such a special girl. She used to be quite grumpy as a puppy, but she grew into a lovely family dog. She loved my Dad - when he came home from work she would run down the hall and jump into his arms. She also went through a stage where she would attack the cat every time the phone rang! LOL! She came with us down to Melbourne where she was bombarded with my new puppy Maisie (who now lives with me) and then crazy Dharma the dalmatian. She took it all in her stride. She slowed down significantly in the last few years, but still enjoyed a pat and her dinner. Unfortunately though she crashed on Monday and when she didn't improve, the decision was made to let her go. I know it was the right thing, but I wish I could have been there with them. RIP Paddi 11th May 1991 - 11th February 2009. Paddi as a 12 week old puppy with my little sister: Paddi on Christmas day 2008:
  7. I'm sorry. She sounded like an amazing dog and that is such a beautiful photo.
  8. All dogs have a little lump right in the middle of their chin where the whiskers come out. Its perfectly normal.
  9. Not on me, no. I'm at work trying to look busy! LOL!
  10. I had always fed my dogs Supercoat (it was the only thing that didn't upset my girls tummy) but recently tried Cobber when the produce store was out of Supercoat. I love this stuff! I use the working dog formula and their coats are so shiny, hardly any poops and they only have one cup a day. They were putting on weight when I first switched so I have been cutting back and now we are down to one cup! It doesn't seem enough but they are doing so well on it.
  11. Is there any way she can be desexed now? If she has health problems, she may well have pups with health problems.
  12. Sounds like it could be an infection, although blood tests would normally indicate that? Hmm very confusing. Poor girl. Is she an older dog?

    Pepper

I'm so sorry. RIP Pepper. He was a stunning boy.
  14. Really? Cool thanks Cosmo. I'll pass on your number. The guy sounds like he really does want to help his dog, and not just get rid of him. Fingers crossed anyway.
  15. A man has contacted me regarding his 1yo Border Collie dog who has suddenly become aggressive with children. They have just brought a new baby home so obviously are concerned! I suspect it has something to do with a) the new baby and b) the fact that they back on to a primary school. The behaviour has only started in the last few weeks. I have told them to get him desexed ASAP which they said they would do, and also said I'd help them find a behaviourist in their area. So, they are in Keilor - anyone know of any good behaviourists out that way, or any that would travel out that way?
  16. I had seen the vibration collars but they are quite expensive so I'll see what the trainer says on Thursday. He is very tuned in to us so hopefully that will make him easy to train.
  17. I have been giving a referal to a lady who does private home visits, so I'm getting her out on Thursday. We are going to do an intensive course where she'll show me how to get started, and we'll go from there.
  18. I am looking for a trainer that is experienced in training deaf dogs. We have just acquired a deaf puppy and I want to make sure I do everything right. If anyone can recommend a trainer in Melbourne that would be fantastic!!
  19. My dogs have always preferred to sleep outside during summer.
  20. I keep looking at that first photo - it is so Millie. She was the smoochiest little girl, always trying to give you kisses. God I feel so sick.
  21. Last night was the worst night of my life. Earlier this year I rescued a British x Burmese girl from the RSPCA. As soon as I saw her, I had this feeling she was meant to be mine. I loved her from the first second and it just felt like she should be with me. But our circumstances meant no matter what I felt, I couldn't keep her. So I had to find her a forever home. I thought I had found her the perfect home. I can't believe how wrong I was. I asked so many questions and told them just how special she was. I told them if they ever couldn't keep her, for whatever reason, I would take her back. Just days after her adoption - where her new owner promised she would be spoilt forever and be an indoor-only cat - I found out that they had no intention of keeping her inside. After numerous calls and emails, I told them I would take her back. They didn't want that and eventually stopped returning my emails. I decided not to transfer the microchip so that if she ever got out, I could get her back. Tonight changed all of that. Somehow the RSPCA stuffed up the microchip form so her original owners (the ones who dumped her at the RSPCA) were still the first contact, but my mum was the second contact. At about 9pm tonight she got a call saying Millie was at the emergency vet - she had been hit by a car. Mum rang me at work and I rang the clinic straight back. After explaining the situation, I was told I had no right to decide what happened to Millie because she wasn't legally mine. They refused to treat her until I had the "owner's" permission, even though I told them I would pay for her treatment. Thankfully I still had her new "owners" details so I called them and told them to call the clinic and tell them that they were surrendering her to me. It was then I found out that not only had they let Millie outside, they had rehomed her two months previously. The "owner" called the clinic and finally I was told the extent of her injuries. I told them I would be there as soon as I could. It was the longest drive ever - I could hardly see through the tears and I was shaking all over. I felt like I was going to be sick. Finally I reached the clinic where my wonderful partner was waiting for me. Together, we were led to her crib. What I saw will haunt me forever. Her beautiful, sweet face was a mess. One eye was gone and the other was so damaged she would likely never see again. Her jaw and skull were fractured in multiple places. Her delicate little feet were shredded from the bitumen. The vet told me she would need numerous operations and even then they couldn't guarantee her any quality of life. I made the hardest decision of my life and asked them to put her out of her misery. I stroked her gorgeous plush coat and told her how much I loved her as she peacefully slipped away. I am absolutely devastated. She was the most beautiful, most special cat. I just know she should have been with me. I can't believe this has happened and she is gone. I tried to do the right thing but I failed her. She deserved so much better than this. I hope she knows I was there. I hope she heard me telling her how sorry I was. I hope she knows that I will love her forever and think of her every day. I can't believe this is happening. I want this to all be a dream. Why didn't he keep her indoors? Why didn't he ask me to take her back - I would have in a heart beat. She was meant to be mine. I can't stop crying. I can't stop shaking. I feel physically sick. I am so sorry Millie. I'm so sorry.
  22. I am so sorry. RIP little Charlie.
  23. I'd probably get them done together. Then hopefully they will both be quiet for a few days - if you get them done seperately one will be sore and tired while the other wants to play.
  24. She doesn't look skinny to me.
