  1. I am so sorry. I have met Jamaica (did some flyball training for a brief time) and he was an amazing dog. I'm sorry he had to go. RIP gorgeous boofa.
  2. I am so sorry for your loss. He sounded like an amazing dog. RIP Henry-Bear.
  3. OK, I think I've changed my mind. I am now in love with MISTY! She is so pretty! I still love Polly as well, but Misty is just something else...
  4. If there is a foreign body in the ear, attempting to clean it could force the object further down and cause more pain/problems. Definitely vet visit.
  5. It could have been pyo that the bitches had - I believe they can sometimes get it after mating, due to bacteria?

    Help With Puppy

We used to raise our knee, so it connected with the dogs chest when it tries to jump up. Also, make sure the kids fold their arms when near her, so she can't nip little fingers.
  7. She is gorgeous, and I agree sometimes you rescue dogs without knowing the full story, but all I see in her eyes is pain and sadness. If it were me, I probably would have spent a day feeding her all the yummiest, naughtiest foods I could, and then I'd let her go. But I guess everyone has to do what they feel is right. Thanks for helping her.
  8. Oh no! I am so sorry. ;) Take comfort from the fact they are together again, and will always be watching over you. RIP Sam and Rex. You have left some very big gaps to fill.
  9. They get fed when I remember. Between 5-10pm. They never expect their meal which is nice. My grandparents used to feed their dog at a set time every day. We could be out for the day, and they'd rush home to feed Max. LOL!
  10. Why is debarking so cruel? We desex, we dock, etc. Why not debark?
  11. I am in Melbourne, and it gets damn cold here too. My dogs are both shorthaired, so they feel the cold. Sometimes I feed extra to my boy in Winter to keep the weight on, but at MOST it is 2 cups a day.
  12. OMG!! I can't believe how much you are feeding your dog! I have two largish dogs (25kg each) and they get 1.5 cups of dryfood each per day. Thats it!
  13. I'm so sorry. RIP beautiful girl.
  14. Oh no! I am so sorry Longclaw. She was so beautiful and was meant to be with you. I am so sorry she has left so soon. RIP sweet girl.
  15. Oh I want one NOW!! They are so gorgeous!!
  16. Is he a pedigree? Sometimes a puppy's ears will do funny things during teething (and at 5 months, it fits the time frame).
  17. She is stunning. I really can't decide if I like the blue or red merles best. Guess I'll see what comes along later in the year.
  18. Why don't you take the family down to your local shelter - lots and lots of gorgeous dogs needing homes there. All breeds, all sizes, all ages. Good luck finding your new dog.
  19. They are so beautiful!! I have put my name down on a waiting list for a blue or red merle girl with a breeder this week. I just love Aussies.
  20. Oh that's a nice response. Yet if it was YOUR dog being attacked, would you be happy if the neighbour sat on the back porch and listened to your dog being killed?
  21. They looked like beautiful cats. RIP sweet kitties.
  22. Congrats on your soon-to-be baby! 1) I don't crate my dogs so I'm not really sure on this one. But my MIL uses a very large crate for her puppy (big enough for a bed, food and water bowl and still room to spare). He is fine in his crate, so I imagine if you wanted to get a crate that would still fit him as an adult, that would be fine. 2) I would buy something gentler than a slicker brush for now. One of those soft-bristled brushes would be good, or even just a comb. Combine grooming and patting, and make it enjoyable. Perhaps when he is tuckered out after a good play, sit on the floor with him and just gently groom him. Keep the sessions short for now, and slowly build up the length of time. Remember if you brush regularly, you will avoid knots. If you leave a long time between grooms, he will get knots which will be painful to brush out and then he will start to dislike being groomed. 3) This is a contentious issue. Everyone has a different idea. Personally, I would get him out and socialise him with dogs that you KNOW have been vacc'd. Friends or family member's well behaved, FRIENDLY dogs. You don't want him to have a negative experience, so make sure the dogs are puppy-friendly. You could also enroll him in puppy preschool. It would be worth asking around to find a good one though, as some are shocking. 4) It sounds like you have everything covered, ready for his arrival. Have fun!!
