It wouldn't surprise me if they didn't have one ;) I think 2 weeks from last cough sounds fair, I will just use ADAA method. Zora has not coughed since earl this morning but no doubt will start again in the cool evening. However it seems to be very mild compared to last time my dogs had it, that time Lilly was bringing up foam and very short of breath - had to go on AB's and Lincoln was coughing heaps, surprisingly Toby has been unaffected so far!
-
Yes I had a look around too Ptolomy and it says anywhere from as soon as coughing stops until 16 weeks! I think the 3-5 days bit is probably wrong tough! I kept the dogs isolated after the show for 6 days, I took Zora out on the 7th day as I thought she didn't have it by then and that night (last night) she coughed the first time. I will keep the dogs in for two weeks from the first cough I guess (lord help me!). Toby has not coughed, and the Gun Dog Club obedience is 13 days from when Zora first coughed, this means Toby is withdrawn right?

Hmmm I was told in the past 2 weeks, they incubate for a week and then a week after the first day they cough MG if you are not sure I would take Gibbs to the vet.

Puppy Making Strange Noise
RallyValley replied to Mason_Gibbs's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
MG Zora started coughing last night, she maybe coughed 2 or 3 times and this morning has coughed twice. She has kennel cough, it's going around at the moment and many dogs who attended the Royal have caught it apparently. -
Good luck traillers! Z started coughing last night so no dog activities today or this week!

Retrieving & Field Training Talk
RallyValley replied to RubyStar's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Had fun this morning FHRP, pre dawn start to meet at 0630. The dogs all had three runs. The first was a planted quail in a mesh basket and when the dogs got close 'Woody' the decoy pointer would pop up Zora did ok, she caught onto the scent and sniffed the bird out, got close and stopped... then Woody popped up and she decided Woody was scary and needed rooring at but didn't move. We then took her closer to the quail and she was a bit unsure (It moves mum! ) Second run through was a quail tied down, she started to get quartering and ranged out further, got near to the bird and halted (I didn't even see it! ) We held her still with the lead and the quail's owner released him so he flew up and back down - she went a bit bug eyed and jumped up. Third run through was most successful, from the start she seemed more purposeful, and was ranging out faster and as far as the lead could go, she got a bit sticky where the quail had been previously then sniffed out the new location, she froze when she saw the quail and again jumped on her hind legs when it was released, when then left her follow it up to the new location, and she was VERY eager, again she froze and the bird was released. The best part - when I carried her back to the other dogs after the third run she spent the whole time squirming to look back at the quail and just kept wanting to go back there! She got to meet Woody again at the end and was fine with him this time and was obsessed with the little crate the quails were in. A few more sessions of that and then onto the real field, the adult dogs there had no interest in the planted quail and our mentor told us that after they have experienced wild quail games with wings and tame quail are pointless. ETA- My summer exercises are definitely woah training and changing direction on command. Her whistle recall was awesome still ETA2- No photos I had my camera but no memory card. The daughter of the guy helping us had her camera there and said she would email shots, so maybe in a few days. -
Technically I am as Zora my Britt is my only dog but I live with the parents and the family dog Toby.

Sounds like a few of the larger gundogs may suit. How long are the sledding runs for? If its a fairly long distance look at breeds bred to 'work all day' like herding and gundog breeds, conformation is important for soundness.

Glad the kids don't have whooping cough emery! I had it when I was 14 and it was awful! Effected my breathing for years as a residual effect

Yeah TSD tomorrow I am blowing off a show to take Zora out to have her first live bird expirience! Her and a couple of other pups will be doing some work with quail... we will see how she goes. I am hoping she can track and point and not just chase I am also amazed how Zora's expression just lights up and she gets crazed when she sees a wing! I think she will enjoy when she gets to retrieve! I can only imagine how insane your already birdy little girl must be. :D -

Way to go Rebel! I have been drilling whistle recalls and sits this week and it paid off (well the recalls, the sits are not quite there!)! Today miss Z and Toby were at my brothers and the neighbours chickens started making lots of noise, the dogs ran off to investigate them but I did my recall whistles and they spun on a dime and headed straight back - jackpot!!! (Yes Toby is also learning whistle sits and recalls - it's easier to teach them both at once ) -
How/when Did You Decide
RallyValley replied to Agility Dogs's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I have Toby who is 3, he is the family dog so will not be coming with me when I leave home, an injury means no agility and temparament issues mean no obedience beyond CD. He will enjoy Rally though and keep competeting on that as long as he is sound. My pup is 2 years and 11 months younger then Toby, she should be able to have a go at everything and keep me busy! All going well my next dog will be from the pup's second litter when she is around 5, if her health tests ect line up. -
MG try it at least once so you can always say 'I tried it...' I really like showing it has taught me lots about dogs and I do think it helps in other disciplines, it helps make well socialised dogs.

 I show in a 'rare' breed, my bitch is the only one currently showing in my state. I have been trying to convince a local field trialler with a stunning dog from the same breeder as my girl to let me show his dog, I know his dog will like beat my bitch due to maturity but I don't care, I would just rather see more Britts out there! The same goes for a girl who told me she is getting a puppy and is interested in showing, I gave her all my details and told her I would do anything to help out. Next year I am planning to fly over east to go up against competition, it will be far more exciting then the cursory look over some judges give rare breeds.
-
Plus MG I tink the older you leave it the harder it will be as more is expected from older dogs, whereas they expect babies to be naughty. There will be heaps of Lab people there so I am sure you will find someone else to take Gibbs in for you if you are too worried!

Congrats on the new pup Rusky! Can't wait to meet her.
