  1. I would go with either Wing Tip Wong or see Charles when he is available. <--Sorry didn't realise you were already booked in with someone. Agree with the others, book a consult with the physio's at Dogs In Motion- underwater treadmill or swimming there is extremely well managed and they will adjust his program accordingly. It is very important to do the physio after surgery to keep the muscle tone he has got and aid healing. Good luck, is Insurance not an option now because it's a prior condition? Might be worth checking out the different companies.
  2. Ok, thanks heaps for the info, do u know if these guys go through a formal qualification?
  3. If anyone knows who the trainer is that runs the puppy classes at Petstock Torquay would you mind PMing me the name? Nothing suspicious, just have a good friends', friend taking her puppy there and was asked if I knew anything about petstock puppy school. :D Thanks, Mel.
  4. I couldn't find any 4-ways anywhere when I was looking...just check your pvc sizing. I had to buy reducers to put in the 4-way connectors b/c I had all 3/4" pvc. The prices are USD, you can convert using xe.com. Mel.
  5. Berwick Obedience also have agility, we are having SO much fun there right now. They have a puppy foundations course (no jumps or weaves) you need to put your name down on a list but it's not hugely long right now AFAIK. With adults it's similar to Croydon, you need to pass a certain level of obedience.
  6. You won't find any trainers or people bad mouthing companies such as the one that you mentioned because we'd be open to slander, but I have certainly been called to see dogs trained by franchises in general and I'm sure some of the other trainers here have as well. I run puppy school in Doncaster/Templestowe and soon will be running young/adult dog classes again, there are also many good schools in and around the Balwyn area. I can think of 5 off the top of my head that all cater for different training styles. Since you have mentioned that your pup is easy-going I strongly advise you to consider the recommendations given to you here for private trainers. Just because someone has been doing something for 30 years doesn't mean they do it right, or that they do it any differently now to 30 years ago. Don't just be taken in by the 'talk', ask to see some results! Mel.
  7. I think you have the answer right there ^^^^^
  8. There are a few reasons, health and logistical- it's a bit more complicated than you realise. I understand the barf diet very well, and I don't need to be flamed so I'm not going into it here. Mel.
  9. Yes Kangaroo I haven't tried yet, to be honest I tried it on my Toller who will eat anything edible or inedible and he will not eat Kangaroo at all so I haven't tried it on any of the others.
  10. Does anyone in Eastern or outer Eastern Melbourne regularly buy Turkey mince as in ground necks/wings suitable for a barf mix?? I have an older dog who reacts skin and intestinal wise to beef/chicken/lamb, have had success with fish and duck but I'm thinking Turkey is the next cheapest available other meat source. Any help greatly appreciated, Thanks, Mel.
  11. You can do stacks to help your dog with desensitisation to the Vet Clinic. Just takes a fair amount of work and time (and expert advice).
  12. They seem to work in principle, have seen the two extremes- the owner who says "hi everyone my dog needs space, he is wearing the yellow bandanna to show this" and the owner who is abusing everyone left right and centre for getting too close to her dog when she was deliberately walking in the very area where people are trying move into and out of the training centre. Gotta love human nature really... ;) Mel.
  13. Perhaps getting a hold of the crate games dvd and teaching your dogs to run to their crates to get dinner? Might just diffuse the door guarding.
  14. I am booked in as well. :D I'm ditching the Hills Science Diet Kersti Seminar for Gaille Perry.
  15. Well you made the statement - back it up with something verifiable!!!!
  16. Can please elaborate on this if you mean payments as in profits on food sold, yes this happens at Vets and any where else any product is sold. The only kick backs I have ever seen are the odd promo item, so I would love to hear more about this. Yes, I'd like to know more about this too. Ditto.
  17. Ah ok, well good luck with your investigations. If you wanted to trial I'm sure you'd get heaps of help in training forum and a few dvd recommendations.
  18. I assume that's directed at me. I recommend Vet Behaviourists because they hold a MACVSc in Animal Behaviour. They have a code of practice to ensure that adequate follow up is in place and they are held accountable for this. I have sat in on Vet Behaviour consults and being that my professional recommendation becomes a reflection, that is who I am comfortable referring to. I don't make any assumptions about whether or not medication is needed, this looks clear cut but there could be underlying anxiety issues with the aggressor- that's not for me to say however. Mel.
  19. It would be interesting to find out if this person actually is the club President or not, then speaking privately to the club President in the event that this trainer is a Vice etc. I think it's wise to alert the most senior person that this is happening in a beginners class and are they aware?? The club either does or does not allow this and unfortunately if they do looks like you only have one option PL- walk if you are unhappy. I was under the impression that Yeggy and ?Carlin's Mum? were training at a positive club but perhaps this was in Darwin City?? Mel.
  20. Vet Behaviourist- you've got a few issues going on there and you need someone to come and view the interactions and go through the complete history. Happy to recommend if you PM me your State. Mel.
  21. I'll hold the quote, quote, quote...gets annoying after a while. The Endometriosis was seen in the abdominal cavity, they were red, white, and burnt lesions and lots of adhesions were seen as well, I have only ever heard it diagnosed on initial Speying. I went to (and should have) edit that post and say that I agree with Stormie that Endo lesions are not likely to be your girls problem, just that I have seen it diagnosed is all. Endo lesions are thought to make their own oestrogen in humans, thus when a human female has a hysterectomy if the lesions are not removed then continued pain can be the result. But I have never read that Endo lesions on their own have caused women to continue cycling. Perhaps PM Charles Kuntz (if his inbox is not already full! ) and ask for his recommendation??? Mel.
  22. With respect, I have witnessed Vets diagnose this during a Spey, often coupled with polycystic ovaries and other abnormalities.
