  1. World Titles are won at the World Show annually. My Swedish Import has the Title (it is an FCI Award) and despite it being on his Export Pedigree, it has been removed by the VCA as they said the ANKC do not have it in their Database of titles. Bit weird as we are affiliated with the FCI and they recognise all our titles. Also had his Swedish Champion Tracking Title removed. The problem is when you would want to send a dog back to where you got it, as the new Export Pedigree would not reflect the titles that were removed here. In my case, if he went back to his breeder (this was an option if I did not want to retire him here in Australia) who is in Norway, the title would not be restored, as he was awarded this in Sweden and is not in their system. So don't worry about trying to get one as it won't be acknowledged here anyway.
  2. Just spoken to the ALL TRANSIT MOTEL. They have been told that the show will go ahead regardless but the challenge will be to get there. They are currently brainstorming safe routes for us and the community have a meeting on Wednesday to make decisions. She said that their current dilemma is where to put us all (All Transit Guests) if their road is awash. My response was if it gets that bad then I will be staying at home and not risking dogs and myself for a few possible challenge points. She will let me know on Wednesday after the meeting. Routes via Wagga Wagga and surrounds are not a goer now or later this week and Vics will need to find a way well to the west of the area. Will keep you posted if I hear more. Regards
  3. I remember! Thanks for saying hi and maybe we will catch up again this weekend if the Gods will let us! Cheers
  4. I agree - was on the news this morning. I have left a message on the Show Sec answering machine asking if she could let me know (there are a few of us travelling up) and I would also post here or she could post in this thread instead. Hoping to hear soon as I reckon they will need the accommodation we booked, for people displaced by this disaster. Seems a bit indulgent to be hogging motels etc when people have homes under water.
  5. Better than the scene appeared which is great news: Sunday, 28 November 2010 20:20 Five people have been injured after a tree fell onto a moving vehicle on the Hume Freeway in Longwood this afternoon. Due to strong winds, it appears the large tree was uprooted on the eastern side of the freeway about 4pm and fell on the vehicle travelling south about 50 metres south of Meades Lane. The Toyota Rav sustained substantial damage. The driver, a 43-year-old man was airlifted to the Northern Hospital with possible head injuries. The remaining four female passengers aged 70, 44, 42 and four sustained minor injuries and were conveyed by road ambulance to the Northern hospital. All occupants are believed to be from the Geelong area. South bound traffic on the Hume Freeway was diverted for two hours whilst police and other services cleared the scene.
  6. Weather was cloudy, hoy and very humid. YUK! Group 1: BIG - same Pug as Saturday (also went up Age in Show today) Group 2: BIG - Smooth Foxie (Price) r/u BIG - Border Terrier (Tolley) Baby - Cairn Minor - ? Puppy - Airedale Junior - ? Int - r/u BIG Aust Bred - Open - BIG Staffy got one of the Awards I missed, while packing. BIS was again the Whippet Bitch with Sonja and I saw Molly out there In Show lineup with a Baby Whippet and a Saluki youngster. r/u BIS Old English Baby IS was the Vizzla (me thinks!) Int IS was the Malamute that also got the Group. Fantastic grounds and a wonderfully run Show which got us on the roads early. Thank you to the Committee. Lost my car keys which delayed my departure for 5 - 10 minutes but I am grateful for such a thing. On the Hume I arrived, in amongst a group of cars which sat while emergency services flowed through to a horrific accident 100 metres ahead of us. A huge tree had fallen across the Hume Hwy in the strong winds. Cars appeared to have careered into it and some looked like they had rolled possibly. Just dreadful and the remaining 80 kms home was very sobering for me. I sadly wondered who these poor souls all were and hoped none were fellow dog show competitors. Prayers go out tonight for those affected by such an awful twist of fate.
  7. I'm not sure how to place photos on here but will have a bash at it. I have a 6 X 3 Marquee by the Terrier Ring so won't be hard to find and ask for Erica from Sweden. These are with her and you will be seeing her for the sales side - I just asked her to bring them for those who had wanted some. It will be what she has at the time you see her during the day and I would look for us at Vic Womens early in the morning if you are interested as I imagine they will go fairly quickly at that price. A number of NZers have already emailed wanting quite a few and someone visiting is transporting those ones back with her. I have just checked her email and she is bringing 40 Walking leads (I don't have photos of these and mine are in my dog trailer which is stored 10 minutes away) and 50 show leads (dozen of these already ordered/sold). If you let me know what you want I can pull those out when she arrives in the order of the interest (it depends on colours etc and what she has) and then what is left is first come basis. They are really lovely, light and strong and very cheap for what they are. This is just done as a favour.
  8. My friends from Sweden arrive this weekend and are bringing with them some of the leads they donated for our Speciality Show last year. I asked them to bring the show leads in 3 main colours and also the fabulous walking leads - many people have grabbed my own ones in a moment of weakness on my part! Some have been ordered but there will be spares for anyone interested. I believe she has done the sums with the exchange rate and only wants $15 each for these. Will be at Vic Womens and Sunbury. These are not available in Australia.
  9. Woooo Hoo!! Way to go Casey!! Do you know if any Jacks went through in Group?? I heard that Kerri's Puppy Bitch won Best of Breed, didn't know if she went any further. Not sure, sorry! Still doped up on cold meds so ran back to the gazebo after Minor lol. No Jacks went through.
  10. Just got home - glorious day and everyone loved the wind-down after Royal. R/U was Axle "Ch Bohunt Pillow Fight" and his daughter was BP of Group "Bohunt Dita Von Teese". Super day and always nice to have some great unexpected wins. The weather was a real tonic after the dreadful conditions we have had for months. Everyone had their spirits lifted. Cheers
  11. Thor has 2 other owners, S.Ward & R.Troisi was this a typo being left off this post or was only Mrs S.Turner in the catalogue????? Happened to me to - I co-own a dog with 2 other people and arrived at the show to find he was only in my name despite the entry being correct. I think they are still having problems with the co-ownership dogs in the computer program. Last year they turned ALL of my dogs into co-owned with the 2 other people that only own one with me. Regards
  12. I am unclear what you mean - are you saying that they are not giving everyone a space for Babies entered in the Breed Classes? If that is the case then I can imagine they have no say in your baby being on display. No Bench - no Display. Could sleep quietly away in a trolley that is covered. Reading some of the posts here makes me realise that this may be no better than last year. It was my first Royal last year (never been bothered before) and I was not particularly happy on a number of levels. I know the real workers like Estelle are doing possibly too much work and being lumbered with all sorts of jobs that maybe others could be doing. I am also aware that the RASV is more the problem than the Doggy people organising the Show. They have a different attitude to the welfare of the dogs & the processes and not a lot of empathy. I found the day very stressful but I promised Neville Hodgkins that I would come back and give it a second chance - after saying never again. I attended the Brisbane Royal recently and spent 4 days there in total, helping my friends as well as showing my dogs and it was great. I was impressed with how the whole thing was handled and would go back. I also found the benching quite secure for the dogs and while it was a little dark it certainly kept them safe from the public touching etc. Mine spent much of the 3 days they attended on their backs with legs in the air - sound asleep. I will wait with baited breath to see if the benching appears but I am beginning to fear that this is a pipe dream. I'll be happy just to get all my dogs to the ring this year without injury - unlike last year.
  13. One of mine picked up KC early June at Sporting Terrier Shows. It went through the entire household and I had nearly two and a half months off showing the dogs which was pain in the butt. It is beyond me that people are so desperate to go to a show that they risk other peoples' dogs. Very selfish and inconsiderate. The only upside is I find those who have had a bad dose, rarely are ever afflicted again but I could have done without the experience.
  14. This is why you never leave your dog/s unattended, even big dogs cause god knows what some nutter might give them. Absolutely. I hate the public interaction and it is a stressful day when it comes to dog safety. Last year I had my Import bitch stood on by a member of the public while I was attempting (with great difficulty) to get to the ring and she had to be scratched - broken toe. This year we have 7 dogs between us (another exhibitor and myself) and 4 people organised to care for them and we have organised a 'roster' to sit with the dogs at all times. I am a bit paranoid and this year I have a Baby and Border babies are very cute. I had fears of turning my back for a few seconds....... The dreadful news of Kylie's wee man is a very timely warning and has done nothing to allay my fears. This is the world we now live in and while it is appalling and completely unacceptable, it is how it now is. Just dreadful and puts me off bothering with Royals. I pray Kylie gets her wee man back -- she must be going out of her mind with worry.
  15. You have got to be kidding! I am so over the weather up here - I am in Kilmore. My place is under 3 inches of water and has been like this since June - looks like a swamp (green and slimy) and frogs everywhere. Cannot use any areas for dogs and they are living on the decking areas. We are moving very soon and I am relieved. I cannot believe the weather and certainly no water shortage in Kilmore.
  16. Sorry Gaela I am not sure what you mean ? J No worries - all your emails ask for a receipt to be sent to you but they go no-where and stop all other emails leaving or being received. Your email settings will have this as standard if you are not asking for it in every email. Businesses use these as proof of email being received - ie solicitors etc. I rarely use it but only for something important I want proof of delivery for. To remove it: TOOLS OPTIONS PREFERENCES EMAIL - Email options TRACKING OPTIONS - UNTICK Read Receipt & Delivery Receipt Cheers
  17. Hi Jacqui - Can you remove the email receipt from your emails as it is crashing the computer. We are IT people and sorted it last night but your latest email has done it again and I can't email now until it is repaired. Have answered your question but will need to fix before it can leave the Outbox. Cheers Gaela
  18. If you could email me the photos of Jacqui with the Frenchie (green suit and the red hair) and any of the Baby Whippet, I would be grateful. These are my friends I was staying with and I will pass them on (Mum "Jacqui"and daughter "Vicki"). Vicki also handled Jacqui's Vizzla to r/u in Group if you have any of those too. If you add Ian's Pap I will also give that to him - he has dogs in partnership (Saluki's) with Vicki. Thanks in advance for offering to share them and make sure you give your details so you get credit for the photos. Cheers [email protected]
  19. The second one pictured is from a seller that I have bought 6 stainless steel crate/trolleys from. They are made in China and I paid between $90 - $130 each for them and I didn't use the wheels and they are static beds for the dogs at night. Thrilled to bits with them and they are perfect for what I need them for. Quality is fine enough and I haven't had any major dramas and I don't regret buying them at all - not at that price. The show trolley is obviously the 2nd Generation of their product. However, if I was buying a new show trolley (my old two are still going strong after 10 & 13 years respectively) then I would go the Geelong made ones (the photos looked impressive) or good old C Crates who have a quality product. The show trolleys take a pounding and the makers in Australia understand what we need and want and have refined the product to accommodate us. Yes, they are more expensive but I still have mine and still cannot justify replacing them. They just won't break! They come up on DOL in the For Sale area often so keep a look out. I'd rather have a 2nd hand one of these than the China imports. Cheers
  20. Just a note to all - I am Quarantined here as half my dogs are down with Kennel Cough caught at KCC Park 2 weekends ago. You might think twice about heading up if you have young pups, like I do (mine are only 1 week old!!), or don't want a monster vet bill to match mine. :D Have fun and good luck to all. I'll see you all sometime in August. Regards
  21. Change of judge about to be announced. I was excited until I realised it wasn't our Group 2 judge.
  22. With Borders, one major contradiction between standards is the tail- one standard is "set on high but never over the back" the other is "tail not set on too high", now as is the case for most dogs, tailset can have a huge impact on the entire outline of the animal and I would imagine if you were used to seeing perhaps tails set level with the back and you are presented with dogs with highset tails, you might be a little lost. Wouldn't it be nice if we all had the same standards worldwide lol. With the Borders the biggest issue and difference is the mouth. It is just as correct to have a level bite as a scissor bite and this is clearly stated in the breed standard. The Canadians and Americans have made a scissor bite only in the standard. The Brits did this from the beginning to keep the otter head and I have noticed over the years (as the Americans have stopped importing from UK) that the heads have elongated and they have lost that special head which is what the breed is about. In Australia we see many BTs with very long fore-faces and this is a results of never keeping a level bite and shorter muzzles - many are so concerned with winning in the ring and most judges want to see scissor bites. Yes, it is a pain to breed a litter and have mouths go undershot but that is the price to pay for a correct head. Maybe we sometimes try and please too many people (and maybe the wrong ones) in the pursuit of glory. I am currently looking at my 3 pups I have run on, from a litter of 4, waiting until the mouths change for this very reason. I cannot see them all having good bites despite them being fine at this stage. I agree Elsa - the breed standards should all be the same and the country of origin should determine what it should be.
  23. I've entered, so looking forward to it - my first Brisbane Royal. I'm staying right through and doing the terrier show before I come home.
  24. What a great girl you are! I hate it when people show the girls in season as I have 3 male studs to show and they go ballistic if they sense a bitch in this state. Well done to you! I have 10 entered in the Border Show - the Club needed entries, so got all but one coming (Swedish girl is heavily in whelp), plus a pet that is with friends. My fingers are raw from all the grooming! Have 5 entered on Sunday and Monday - just 2 adults (the usual suspects) and the 3 babies. Elsa - Sundays judge is a great Terrier person so that is a shame you didn't enter but we will be thinking of you when we turn off the alarm at 3am!!! Sort of looking forward to it but the 3am starts will be a killer. My guests from NZ will find it easier as they have a few hours up their sleeves in the morning and just to complicate things, I have a bitch due this weekend. May not even get to bed on one of the nights! Cheers
