  1. I can understand if you choose not to vaccinate, but those early ones are vital to the health of a pup!
  2. I agree, walk up to a horse with a red ribbon on its tail and you deserve to get kicked, public awareness would give it meaning enough
  3. My chicken and rice was different shape to the lamb, but it was still the same brownish colour, just a bit lighter and more 'flat' shaped kibble
  4. Show homes are not alllllll that common. There are dogs that are not shown but either have a large genetic value, or are run on to see how they turn out and used if they are worthy/desexed if they are not. The title per se doesnt make them any better so a local pet home where the breeder can do a proper assessment as the pup grows regarding structure and temperament may be the best thing for that individual. As a breeder I am not to fussed if the dog I use over my bitch is not a champion- its much better for me to know the dog well and know how he will match with my bitch. Two champion dogs do not always make champion puppies. My first girl came from two dogs shown very little (not titled) and she is a champion and produced champions. I boils down to the fact that if its a great dog it will be a great dog regardless of being shown. Other breeders get their puppy owners to just come to the occasional big event (2-3 times per yr) rather than showing regularly and that pup might still end up with a title if they are good enough without being to onerous on their owners. Thanks, makes a lot of sense
  5. Well that's just it I don't know much about showing, but I'm just thinking that for her lines, isn't it better to see that Ch next to the dogs name? I might be totally way off the mark and I'm not having a go at the breeder, but if someone could explain that situation to me that would be great!
  6. Disclaimer: I'm NOT a showie, and I don't understand a lot of it, so correct me if I'm way off But am I the only one that finds it weird that this breeder would be willing to sell a pup on breeders terms to someone who is new to the showing world an isn't able to commit 100%, in return for a few breedings from him? I mean he might not even get titled....like I said correct me if I'm wrong, but I just figure (from her perspective) if she doesn't have time to title this guy, but she wants a litter from him, why not sell him to someone who is 100% committed to titling him Nothing against you Don, I see where you're coming from because I know what its like to do shift work
  7. If you're not sure about showing, maybe you should spend some time at shows with this breeder and see if you enjoy it (not sure if that's usually a done thing or not)
  8. Yeah I wondered who would want a crazy dog lady too...then decided to give ideal introductions a call...specified I needed a dog person lol...voila!
  9. This was my situation exactly when I owned just this Then I decided to go ahead and get one of these Then this was what I always said, no more until Tess passed on.... Enter Jackson! Definitely no more until my old girl is gone now, but it doesn't stop me researching breeds lol
  10. A lot of people have reported chemical resistance from frontline plus With the interceptor it says to dose every 4 weeks, but it really lasts up to 6 weeks. I guess 4 weeks is easier for most people to remember, I know I'd rather buy 9 months worth and have it last for 12 months
  11. I used to use interceptor every 6 weeks, and advantix for fleas/ticks
  12. Yes I ha a thread recently, lots of ideas but no success for me yet, we have just worked out that he loves rising on the back of a ute and so far no spew! Now just to transition him to a car
  13. This Hope you can find the cause of the problem, it can't be easy
  14. Oh the mess! Lol he would have fun though
  15. Tried that, he paws at my hands and it hurts! Lol
  16. It's not that he breaks them, its more that he just flips it over instead of working out the puzzle My Ridgeback is very hard on toys too - prefers bashing the treats out with his brick-like paws to manoeuvring them around with his mouth. My Malinois, on the other hand, is very gentle but likes to dismantle the whole bloody thing, right down to the little rubber grippers on the bottom in case there are more treats hiding there. Apart from a chewed (and now demented) plastic bone neither have managed to destroy the plastic Nina Ottosson toys. We have the Tornado and the Twister. ETA, if he flips them over let him work out how to flip them back. The treats wont come out if the toy is upside down anyway. Ahh see that's good! Every other toy I have releases the treats if it gets flipped so it's pointless
  17. tlc I'm paying $90 a bag in QLD ($85 before the recent price rise)
  18. Oh yes I also have a sir bob a lot....and he has nearly lost his head to a few eager dogs
  19. Yep, and he loves his wobbler, but I was more thinking some sort of puzzle...maybe that sticks to the ground lol This is only a toy for supervision, I his wobbler is great to chuck him outside with it for a while, but I want a 'quiet indoors toy' that will make his mind work...but one he won't end up bashing across the room
  20. It's not that he breaks them, its more that he just flips it over instead of working out the puzzle
  21. We just did this for our houdini today. I got my other girl on a lead and went out the front, she then showed OH exactly how she was getting out
  22. Someone is on facebook giving away a Jap Spitz cross (at least that is what it looks like to me, she is gorgeous!) very sad, I only wish my house wasn't full
  23. My ACD is so smart, I gave him the puzzle pictured below and he worked out the easiest way to get the food was to side swipe it with his paw and knock it over! he is very foot orientated (as in uses his feet a lot rather than relying on his mouth) I am after some interactive toys that will get his mind ticking, but are tough enough to survive him side swiping them with his paw (typical boy, if it isn't easily accessible hit it lol) Any suggestions? Here is the one I gave him today On another note, this toy used to make my very under confident girl Lexi shut down every time I set it up for her...its been away for a year, and look at her now! she has come such a long way!
