  1. You did great in trying to help. So sorry for the outcome. The ranger should have at least come out to check for microchip. If those boys really wanted to keep him then the ranger should have gone to check with the boys family to make sure that the dog will be cared for, registed ect. I think I would have taken him to the vet to check for microchip. Maybe then the ranger would have been contacted and the ranger would have been forced to come get him from the vet. You did the best you could, good on you
  2. That is so sad poor lady and poor doggy. The dog must have seen everything and it got a terrible fright seeing strangers inside the house. I hope they both recover well from this terrible experience. If only our dogs could talk (may have been someone she knows).
  3. What a clever doggy (a touch weird though) my only concern would be if the dog has hips or joint problems in the future but I wouldn't know, I'm not a vet.
  4. Fleuri the symbol means they have rescue backup and will only go to the group if not reclaimed or purchased by the time their impound is over. Thank you Powerlegs
  5. Sorry just a question & Somewhat out of topic I was looking at Renbury Farm's website And there are many dogs there that already have been selected by a rescue some within 2-3 days of from the date. Does this mean that if you wanted one or if the owner wants their dog back they would have to go through that rescue group? Their site only says that all dogs listed under the web- link are now at rescue shelter. Thanks.
  6. Please don’t give up, please find some way to promote your beautiful pure breed dogs. I don’t know the ins and outs of all that is being inflicted on you as breeders and the consequences of this (though I have read of some) but please try to find a way to proceed and promote and continue producing your beautiful pure breed dogs. Unfortunately there are a lot of people in our society that are ignorant to how valuable you are and lack education on the great value of owning a pure breed dog. The feel that I’m getting is that owning a purebred dog is like an old thing of the past or something that is for certain people who have that ‘acquired taste ’. I don’t think pure breeds are being promoted very well. Perhaps there are many breeders that would say well, I’m only selling a pup to those that will appreciate my breed and who bother researching my breed, all those silly people who are only after those designer dogs are too stupid or do not deserve my dogs anyway. The thing is that many people will most likely buy a pure breed if they only knew what an honour it is to own one. If they knew its history and all the hard work that’s put into producing such healthy well-adjusted well breed dogs. There are many people that appreciate quality. I also appreciate that you need to protect your breed from undesirable potential owners. I think a lot of good will come out of promoting/educating others about your breeds than keeping them only for the few already educated in our society or just for those who bother to educate themselves. Please excuse me if I’m getting the wrong vibes hear of what’s actually happening. I am only going from what I have been reading and just a general feel of some of the other threads I have read. Also by noticing the lack of promoting of the pedigree dog in our society.
  7. There are such high standards for breeding healthy pure breed dogs not so much for making human babies. My point being that we condemn bad breeding in dogs but not in humans. We say well I didn’t know that he/she had this hereditary disease or was a carrier of gene so and so. I think some people just don’t know any better and they think that because their dog is a family member they want to have another with the same good qualities though there is no guarantee that they will get a pup with those same quality, more so if they cross breed. Some people just don’t know any better. I remember my mother saying that in her family she was taught that when she looks for a boyfriend (or potential marriage partner) she needs to make sure he is healthy, has good teeth, that there are no known abnormalities in his family.lol! She said that she check my dads teeth (Would this be considered discrimination?) And it was common back in her days to have blood tests done for blood match before they married. (I don't think this is common practise these days)
  8. I can totally understand this situation especially if the pups were given to family and friends back then.
  9. I've been there and was far from impressed with the evening crowd who don't mind dogs rolling other dogs and being growled at by the regular grumpy dog. Took my old Dane there and was set upon 3 times within 15 minutes...never went back again. I 've never been there with my dog so I wouldn't know. I don't take my dog to off leash parks. This Park was just a suggestion it being close to Rhodes.
  10. I found it its under ryde council. 2.Meadowbank Park Andrew Street, Meadowbank NSW 2114 * off leash hours: Monday - Friday, 6-8am & 5-7pm
  11. http://www.educanine.com.au/offleash_dog_parks.html Have a look here I thought there was a Park at Meadowbank that was off leash. Have a look in this website I couldn't find it.
  12. exactly look at the photos on prisoners for profit that some of the visitors took. I would much rather get a pup from an ethical breeder that raised pups at home (bedroom or kitchen or where ever). Never from a large scale business that kept their dogs in cages as clean and as monited as they maybe. That is so sad, I hope these places will not become "the place" to get your pure breed pet dogs in the future. :D
  13. Ahh, ok. I don't believe in anything going to live on, but can accept that many do. I think more of the physical changes that occur and that is why they look different. I also believe that the only thing that lives on is memories of those who knew the living person or animal. I guess that is why I can't see the significance, perosnally, of dog's having souls. I feel very sad for you Anne Tapferhund I understand that you are going through a very sad time (I truly feel for you ) with the loss of your dog yesterday but I do have to agree that this comment to Anne sounds disrespectful.
  14. I couldn't agree more ILBB and today I sadly did just that while holding my darling 17 year old Mini Foxie, my soul mate Cricket in my arms when she died RIP my darling girl :D I am so sorry to hear about your loss. ;)
  15. Cordelia - Don't take this wrong but the thing about the chicken really cracked me up. ;)
  16. I don't think cats are particularly 'more progressed' than other species. (actually, I think cats are primarily still very instinctive and haven't progressed that far at all from their 'wild' cousins). Some apes/other primates, elephants, dolphins and pigs are all known to be highly intelligent and have certain forms of heightened awareness of self or learning etc.. that said.. i don't think that intelligence is a requirement to having a soul. No I don't think that intelligence is a requirement to having a soul either. I believe all animals have a soul.
  17. I would add dolphins and elephants as well. And primates. Yes and I think that there are many more that are just as progressed we just haven't experienced them.
  18. I believe dogs and all living animals have a soul. I think dogs and cats are more progressed than some other animal species. Thats my believe.
