  1. I love the first one, TLC. Here's my pic for week 40: Our backyard was renovated this weekend, so this is a photo of me and Akira after it was all done.
  2. Could it be reverse sneezing? Is she actually breathing out like a cough or breathing in? I'm not sure, I'll have to listen to her do it again, if she does. She hasn't done it again since early this morning, and she's been on lead and hasn't done it either. So maybe she was reverse sneezing and I didn't realise (I've only ever seen a pug do it before, so I'm sure from a Husky it'd sound really different). ETA: I've just heard her do it again and have watched a video on YouTube to compare. She is definitely reverse sneezing. Thank goodness for that.
  3. Hear hear! My partner got mad at me because Akira destroyed my last jacket, but instead of buying a new one I kept buying stuff for her. So I finally bought a new jacket off eBay - but only got it because it had pockets big enough to put her treats in for training.
  4. Oh yeah, I know they can. My main point was that it doesn't sound like kennel cough. She has actually started itching a bit this morning and sneezing. When she sneezes, she does the throat clearing thing too. I have really bad hayfever at the moment (have to take an antihistamine every morning just to get me through the day) so I'm wondering if she's being affected by it too. I'll take her to the vet tomorrow.
  5. I gave up too. We have an extra tall line and we loop long arms and legs over the line twice so my pup definitely can't reach it.
  6. Me too. It's such a sweet story. Hope all goes well with the meeting!
  7. Thanks guys. I'm keeping an eye on her - wasn't able to get in to the vet yesterday and I don't want to take her on the weekend unless it's an emergency, so we'll be going on Monday. She's not sick at all, and the "cough" doesn't sound like kennel cough (she has been vaccinated against it as well) so I'd say it definitely relates to the shoe she ate.
  8. When was this? There's a stack of Kramar products in the supermarket and we have bought them on occasion. Were all lines affected or was it just one?
  9. Yesterday, my puppy destroyed my partner's shoes. His fault, he shouldn't have left them outside, no sympathy from me. Anyway, ever since, Akira has been making a strange noise as though she's clearing her throat. It seems worse when she's been running around or straight after eating. Does anyone have some suggestions on how to help her?
  10. I think it's a lab thing, IMO. My pup wags her tail a bit, but compared to Paddy, the guide dog puppy at work who is the same age, she hardly wags it at all. He will stand there, looking at you, with his tail going THUMP, THUMP, THUMP on the desk, and he doesn't seem to care.
  11. Akira was desexed at five and a half months, and we had her booked in and she started showing the signs of an early season, so it was lucky we had her done then because if we'd waiting until six or seven months, she probably would have come in to season. And Huskies are medium dogs.
  12. Poor Frosty, hopefully we'll see her next time.
  13. Snik is gorgeous in temperament too so you've got the best of both worlds.
  14. Ralph is a foster dog. He managed to jump the fence at the park with stacks of room to spare just before we got there the other day, so the poor thing had to spend the day on lead.
  15. Having seen the damage my old cat (who was 10 at the time) did to my neighbour's Boxer, I would actually be concerned. They're feisty buggers when they're upset.
  16. Pugs shed pretty bad too. "Robust" makes me think of a Swedish Vallhund, but I'm not 100% sure of their exercise requirements.
  17. Good to hear that Earl is home. We missed him at the meet yesterday. That said, Akira still somehow managed to get slobber on her even without him there!
  18. Sounds like the puppy might be pretty timid. As a husky owner who experienced a similar thing, it can be very frustrating and upsetting knowing that your baby is scared of you. The first thing and most important thing is that huskies are pack dogs. Their place is with the family. Therefore the puppy needs to be allowed inside and wherever its owner is. If it's not and is forced to remain outside, it's never going to get used to your friend and no turnaround can happen. Like Earthdog asked, does the pup come over to your friend when they have food? Is there a toy that they can lure it over with? Food played a major part in Akira's turnaround because we were able to lure her over and she learnt that we were a good thing, not a bad.
  19. Glad you got a photo of Brock and Akira together, though I'm pretty sure that second photo is actually Sinikka, not Akira - she's a little more white on her sides. Gorgeous pics!
  20. Last ones! Akira Indie Kennedy Ruger and Ralph Pele Sinikka Ralph I think I got a photo of every dog that was there. ;)
  21. That's it! Thanks KelpieHoundMum, have edited. I still have a stack more photos to come. I took heaps today. Madeline Ralph Louie If you wanted to know where Akira was, you just looked for Sinikka and vice versa! Akira: "Someone slobbered on me, Mum!" Jaana
  22. Akira is exhausted. She's spent the last hour asleep on the floor in the kitchen. Photo thread: http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?showtopic=206311
  23. It was a beautiful day for a DOL meetup, and while the numbers were smaller than usual, we all had a good time. Brock Sinikka The three Spitz: Jaana, Akira and Sinikka Jaana Ruger Evie
  24. Oh I will tell him. He'll be in heaven. He loved your brownies the other night. Mad chocolate freak. Not sure what we're bringing as we're coming straight from my parents' shack. Might drop in to the supermarket on the way and grab drinks and plastic cups. Unless I can make something here, but that seems doubtful.
