  1. Well 4 days without a "No 2" would concern me. Oat Bran might do the trick but I would add a little Cod Liver Oil also. His system may still be recovering so don't go overboard. Cheers, Corine
  2. I won't use this injection on a Collie but then a lot of the Heartworm drugs can cause problems for the Collie breeds. Cheers, Corine
  3. Hi KL, With Duncan a number of holes were drilled in his Tibia bone to get the plate position just right. The plate has 6 pins but extra holes were drilled to get it right . The surgeon took time to show me the x-rays and exactly what they had done, drew diagrams on the whiteboard and explained everything fully :D . At 8 weeks the bones had healed so well you could barely see where cuts had been made or holes drilled, the surgeon said healing was so good we could forego the next set of x-rays (we did them anyway). Bare in mind Duncan was only a baby, his bones were still growing. An older dog would take longer to heal I'm sure. Don't panic, you will get there :D . Cheers, Corine

Oh Yogi that's so sad :D . Regards, Corine
  5. Hi Jaydlaw, I'm sorry but your post has left me rather :D ;). Yes you might have to pay the vet first but the insurance company would reimburse some of the costs, that's the whole point of insurance. Cheers, Corine

  7. RIP little Sheltie guy :D . Regards, Corine
  8. RIP Muffet old boy :D , you were obviously very much loved. Regards, Corine
  9. I only have a single tank so empty after each wash. I refill for the rinse or just use a bucket with clean water to rinse. I only wash my own dogs in mine so I just hose it out when finished with both. I didn't even know you get Hydrobath Surface Cleaner and Pump Sanitiser. Cheers, Corine
  10. I have a lovely one, the bottle is not labelled but I think it is called Eau de Quinine (that's what it was pronounced like). It's a clear liquid you dilute with water, perhaps it is the Eau de Canine that Hesapandabear mentioned ? Cheers, Corine
  11. Hi Donnalee, But then what if you have had to fork out $3000 for just 1 operation like I did ? On top of that there was ongoing physio and follow up x-rays, all up at least $4000. It is so easy for a pup to break a bone which can lead to further problems with development. I so wish I had taken out pet insurance for my boy, he did his leg at just 5 mths old. Cheers, Corine
  12. Yay for Perry, you go girl! You prove that nasty farmer wrong! Cheers, Corine
  13. Hi IR, Duncan was on Metacam after his Tibia op as well s Morphine injections for the 1st night only. I didn't notice anything untoward when he was on it and he was on it for a while. Sorry to hear Phoebe had a bad reaction to it . Glad to hear she is recovering . Regards, Corine
  14. Wow Jenny, you dog was lucky the wasp sting was found . Glad to hear that your Staffy was OK though. Cheers, Corine
  15. Hi Carlee, I must admit that when I 1st read your earlier post I too was concerned. Most people on here really love their dogs so anything concerning a dog's welfare which isn't explained fully can get people hot under the collar. Read your sentance again:- Without the rest of the explanation you gave later this is really open for misinterpretation. I have learned very quickly to give all the pertinent facts when posting on DOL, saves a lot of angst all round . Glad to hear your puppy is OK . That's generally a good idea regardless as your puppy is still growing and you don't want his bones or joints suffering from stress fratcures and strains. Rough play or "boxing" can also lead to a very mouthy or bitey dog too, not cute when Trigger is an adult. Cheers, Corine
  16. Hi Isaviz, Glad to hear Elka is OK apart from the Tendons. Someone else mentioned about a physio and I was going to suggest the same thing. Duncan went to physio for about 6 or 8 weeks after his Closing Wedge Osteotomy and it was atremendous help. Kimjim has started a support group on another site for these types of issues, might be worth finding her post about it. Kimjim works at the physio centre where I took Duncan, they have the only underwater treadmill (UT) tank in Oz I believe. The UT work was fantastic in regaining ROM after the op, of course after a full check up by the physio first. My boy's leg op was pretty major stuff and today he can run like a greyhound . Cheers, Corine
  17. Hi Colleen, I know you are missing Maggie so very much, my thoughts are with you today. You will meet again at the bridge one day . Regards, Corine
  18. Oh Koza, that's no good! Has she had multiple reactions to the sutures and have they used a different material each time? I'm not soure what they used to stitch Duncan up but he has metal holding his Tibia together, the "after" x-rays freaked me out. The surgeon explained that he normally only uses a 3 pin plate for a CWO but Duncan's bone needed so much patching they had to use a custom 6 pin plate! Let's hope this time they have it right with Stella  Cheers, Corine
  19. Hi Andromeda, Sorry, I just meant I had my dogs vaccinated because of all the Parvo going round. I didn't meant to suggest it had to be C4 though. Cheers, Corine
  20. Hi Morgan, I'm going off what it says on my vaccination certificate, it has Dhpvkc listed on it. I took this code to mean Distemper, Hepatitis, Parvo, and Kennel Cough. I think C5 does Leptospirosis as well, perhaps someone more knowledgable can confirm this? Do you have any links to the intra-nasal problems? God, I'm paranoid now as my breed is also susceptible to most monthly and annual Heartworm medications. I think I shall just lock myself and my dogs in a bunker somewhere . Cheers, Corine
  21. Correct me if I am wrong but I thought C3 protects against parvo already?? Hi Andomeda, I checked the card from the vet and it has ticks against Distemper, Hepatitis, and Parvo. The C4 protects against Kennel Cough as well. Any reason why you asked? Cheers, Corine
  22. C4 has been used on my 2 current dogs at 12 & 16 weeks with no apparent problems. At 12 weeks the pups also had the Protech Bronchi Shield "squirt up the nose" vaccination, apart frpm some sneezing there were no apparent ill effects. I was warned that some pups can feel a little off colour for a couple of days after the C4 though. With all the parvo around I just can't risk not vaccinating as I will be showing my pup. So sorry to hear about your pup though, how awful . Sorry to ask but was an autopsy done? Regards, Corine
  23. I think the spray you are wondering about is called Bitter Lime spray. If the Fooey doesn't work then the other stuff probably won't either. My friend has some stuff in a bottle called Yuck!, she only has to bring the bottle out and the dogs run. It's not the taste but the smell which they hate. I have no idea where you could get this though . Cheers, Corine Edited for spelling.
  24. Hi Colleen,  :D Almost choked on my tea! Glad to hear Phoebe is OK now :D . Cheers, Corine
  25. Was away over New Year and just caught up with the thread. Verry sorry to hear of your loss KitKat. RIP Harm, rest easy boy . Regards, Corine
