  2. I'm showing the 2 sibes in the UDC show tomorrow and bringing Booker along for an outing to get him used to showgrounds before his first show sunday. So come and get puppy cuddles :D Best of luck over the weekend Boxagirl I was wondering when Booker would be going to his first show! Best of luck
  3. Sorry... took me a while to figure out how to attach them!! If anybody has any idea as to what he could be crossed with it'd be appreciated we think maybe a mastif?? (simply due to his size really). He's 49cms tall and weighs 28kgs...
  4. We got our new Beagle last week He's a 15 month of (apparently) pure bred Beagle. I have my doubts about that!! Mom calls him the psuedo-beagle, I just like Beaglesaurus He's a gorgeous boy named Hank (it was originally Tank) who is probably the biggest sook i've ever met!!
  5. Hi all, was hoping to get some advice? (am having a 'i'm useless' moment!!) We've just recently (as of yesterday!!) got a beagle boy (currently entire, although he's booked in to get fixed next week). He's 15 months old and has only received the very basic of basic training - he will sit when he's about to be fed and will wait until told before he starts eating. I guess thats something! Unfortunately that's about it really. He's a big boy (i actually don't think i've seen a beagle quite this large), quite solid and strong. My 11 year old son isn't strong enough to hold him still on the leash. He constantly lunges forward, pulling on the lead. I've tried getting him to sit and stay (while on the lead) however this only lasts for mere seconds. He is also hugely excitable, he's very friendly, however when he sees another dog, he immediately starts lunging forward on the lead trying to get to the other dog, and plenty of barking. I try to turn him around so that he is facing away, but he generally twists around and around. What I've been doing, is walking him just backwards and forwards in the lane behind our house, and when he started lunging/barking at a dog, i've led him straight away back into our yard (we have 6 foot fences that you can't see through) and made him sit back down. If anyone can provide any tips it'd be really appreciated He's really a gorgeous boy, quite a sookie la-la really!! Thanks in advance
  6. CrazieCrestys, those photo's are amazing!!
  7. Alwyn is gorgeous And try to forget about the original breeder. Her loss was your gain
  8. I dont understand why people wouldn't be supportive?? I can understand being upset if you lose, but to be so rude about it is really uncalled for
  9. Best of luck to you all tomorrow who are entered! Was saddened to read about all the gorgeous dogs who have passed over the rainbow bridge this month
  10. I adore CKCS's and Beagles But all those puppies are ridiculously cute!!
  11. I've learnt that with breeders you've just got to be patient. They do have busy/separate lives (or appear to anyway!!!), and as others have said, maybe they just don't have the best "email ettiquete" but are much friendlier over the phone I would recommend phoning them to discuss what you want. I (myself) don't really consider that email response you got overly rude. Its actually very similar to a couple of the responses i got, although mine were a tad shorter (consisting of "yes we have puppies available and we charge xx amount for them". No additional contact details or answers to the questions i asked or even whether i could actually buy one stated or anything!! But i didn't take it to heart as maybe they were rushed and busy when they replied. The main thing is that they've actually taken the time to respond. Best of luck with your search ACD's are a gorgeous breed
  12. I don't have quite as long a wait as you Huski, but nonetheless its still driving me bonkers!! We're hoping to get our Beagle around the end of the year (well, anytime after September actually!!) Is it too early for me to be researching leads and collars and foods and ways to puppy proof the garden and checking that my plants aren't poisenous or not???? Its already doing my head in at the choice between crate training or not!! To be honest, i'd never actually heard of crate training until i started reading this forum we've had dogs in the past, but have never had an issue with the dog staying behind or knowing where its bed was. So thats another decision!!
  13. Hi hope someone can be found to assist Salukiggy! I did have a quick google search and found a greyhound rescue, but unfortunately they provided no contact details! only a general form to fill out. Quick question from me, we have a local puppy training school here (which seems to do quite a bit - from puppy school to teaching older dogs and also obediance and some agility) which charges $150 for 10 sessions. Or there's the vets where the vet nurse does the puppy school bit. Would a vet be a better option?? What is everyones opinion??
  14. RubyStar, i feel your pain Many a time i've been short of change or left the card/purse somewhere else and have had to skip lunch!! It doesn't bother me too much usually, except that i'm currently attempting to quit smoking the no ciggies combined with no food doesn't make Jodie a happy girl hehehe
  15. I hope you find somewhere safe to walk your dogs Megan I just think that some owners really have no idea
  16. We are HUGELY excited :D I have let them know as i would worry too much otherwise!! At first I was kind of worried that i'm make the breeder cranky or upset that I was on anothers waiting list, but i just thought it best to be honest Mondayitis... its a curse RNH - that poodle!! That hair!! Its always amazed me how fabulous a Poodle can look
  17. Sid has the cutest inquisitive look on his face
  18. Well done CH Soggy Bear!! Well, I have now narrowed my beagle search down to two breeders who I'm quite happy with (and who are hopefully happy with me too!!!) I'll be on the waiting list until their next litter (which should *fingers crossed* hopefully be towards the end of the year!!) so we're pleased And now my son is walking around yelling out, 'Boris!!! Spike!!! Boris!!! Spike!!!" in his attempts to kick a name hehehe those are the two favorites at the moment Hope everyone's had a great weekend!!
  19. LOVE that one of Sid and your son!! Beautiful photo
