    Ellie

So sorry to hear about your precious girl *hugs* Thank you Ellie for your help with all the Rescues you helped. Another Angel we know...
  2. My allergic dog has terrible smelling wind but it gets better when he's feeling better in himself. I guess farts are just the same as in humans....food agrees with you or it doesn't LOL
  3. That is where I went wrong...I shouldn't have paid $2,500 for Severe Allergic Skin Disease, weak nerves, heart murmur & Osteo Arthritis by 2.5 years of age! My 10 year old Rescue of the same breed is doing awesome though! LOL So sorry to hear about your $2500 mistake, but you can't blame this on your dog being a pure bred. It was just an unfortunate coincidence. Riiiiiight.... See what I was pointing out was that the poster that said you get what you pay for....clearly not even close to correct. Pedigrees are no better if the people breeding them aren't doing the right thing. My next dog will be a pedigree so I don't have a problem with pedigree's just a problem with the uneducated comment made by the poster. In the end....you own a dog...love it...get on with it....
  4. Why do your dogs lick the trolley?
  5. Thanks, I was 99% it was sure it was me but couldn't see the balantly obvious

  7. Thanks, I'll give that a go, just need to find pants with pockets!
  8. I can't even tell you how long it has taken to get this far, I have been very envious of the working dogs out there When we started it was as though he didn't realise he had back legs
  9. I had one, I found it very pricey and dried out quickly, I gave it away after one use, I now use the Ruff Wear Swamp Cooling jacket.
  10. Can someone please help me. Late last year we were doing the 'Slow Dane' Challenge in the Dane thread and it was for the Pivot Heel, we were doing ok when the deadline drew but was not able to get Dante swinging his rear around properly or side stepping back then. We've had a little break and this was the return: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aAxNzc8lgmw Problem....or is it? When I click he moves out of position....now I guess I'm clicking him for what he just did so maybe it's not a problem? From watching the video can anyone give me any critque of what I may not be doing right....now keep in mind this is a Dane so we work at a slightly slower pace otherwise they can get confused and then frustrated LOL
  11. So sorry to hear :D R.I.P
  12. What do you mean "however sometimes that is not possible." - Of course it's possible, you run them in different yards or you only let one out at a time. Some entire dogs get on just fine together and some do not....no one can really tell you what your own dogs will do that will also be dependent on the relationship you have with them and then irregardless they'll probably still be a scrap every now and then General rule is if you have a bitch in season then don't run any together together during that time.
  13. Big assumption considering the poster has not mentioned anything about how the dogs interact with their humans. The OP brought a bitch who then came into season into a house wih 2 entire males...lucky they didn't kill each other. It's pretty understandable why they're still bitching at each other. If the sole reason for their fighting is based around their hormones then yeah desexing is going to assist a bit if they're young dogs but a dog whose been entire for many years doesn't forget everything about being entire after being desexed. The dogs could just be implanted rather than desexed, could help. My 3 year old was desexed perhaps about a year ago it has assisted in some of his 'entire' male behaviours especially some of the aggressive ones, it not 'cure' for anything but has made him more managable, he still knows what a bitch in heat smells like. Understanding some dogs handle their hormones better than others, it's not a one fits all situation.
  14. The mutts my family had growing up all lived long lives and were fed super market foods. I personaly believe longevity is in the genes. Also what is considered a great age for a Kelpie wouldn't be what is considered a great age for a Giant Breed.
  15. It's just so dangerous isn't it...guess the breed....no idea...must be a pitt bull!
  16. I'd say get him Vet Checked and also feed him earlier so he poos before bed.
  17. Thanks for the heads up Nekhbet! Good luck on the hunt!
  18. You're a narky little one aren't you! We're looking for providers that are current right now and prices in one City etc, it's a discussion piece, now please stop rail roading this thread.
  19. Ohhhh sorry to go off topic! Well I was amazed that you didn't find anything disturbing about the information I posted. I particularly found most of it disturbing and it completely reinforced why I would never trust anything that wasn't human grade. Why is it that the Great Dane breed seems so susseptable to allergies? Have you had the dogs tested for allergies? I noted with interest when I received my shipment of supplements today that the company I get these supplements from (Greenpet.com.au) does a compatibilty allergen test from dog fur/hair sample which tests for food and other common allergens for $127. Tyra....can you please stop going off topic, start a new topic if you want to discuss other things, thanks You're also making the assumption that we haven't tried 1000+ miracle cure supplements and vodoo hair analysis and medical allergen tests LOL
  20. I got this from the Burkes Bakcyatd website, the dude's a knob but this may work: Unlike ticks, leeches do not burrow into the skin nor will they leave a poisonous head in the wound. Despite this, many myths abound about removing leeches. The simplest way is with salt: a shake onto the body and most will quickly drop off. Tea tree oil or vinegar dabbed onto the body are also effective alternatives. Less queasy victims may prefer to scorch them with cigarettes or lighters. Otherwise, simply pull the little bloodsuckers off! It is probably a good idea to get a fresh wad of cotton wool and dab a little tea tree oil onto the open wound to prevent infection. While leeches are not known to spread disease, a particular type of bacteria has been identified in their stomachs which may be passed onto the host.
  21. Absolutely they have a purpose! Whiskers, or vibrissae, are coarse, long, widely spaced sensory hairs located around the muzzle of most animal species. They are very sensitive to touch. Whiskers serve as delicate sense organs of touch and are believed to be as sensitive as our fingertips. They are sensitive to vibrations in air currents. As the air moves, the whiskers vibrate, and dogs use messages in these vibrations to sense the presence, size and shape of nearby objects. Whiskers help protect the eyes. Any touch to the whiskers causes the eyelids to blink.
  22. How did he diagnosis that, did he use the special light?
