  1. My girl was desexed when she came into Rescue and it wasn't known as the tattoo had faded, she was opened and closed, it's wasn't a biggie.
  2. Never feel guilted into anything. If you want a rescue dog then get one, if you don't want a resece the get a Pedigree.
  3. I don't listen to anything the RSPCA say personaly. LOL Tyra, thanks for your input but if we can keep on topic please.
  4. Yes a long haired Porty aren't they cute! :D I know a Porty breeder Not sure what you mean by 'Long Haired' though as they aren't short coated?
  5. I did research it seeing as I have a blue brindle with severe allergies. At first I thought it did have to do with the dilution, now I agree with your premise above. There are lots of AmStaffs and SBTs with allergies, regardless of colour, and breeders need to be aware of the genetic heritability that contributes to allergies. The on-breeding of allergic dogs, even mild ones who "only itch a little now and then", contributes more to the allergic population than the colour of the dog. I've also done a lot of searching on Colour Dilute Alopecia, and haven't been able to find any mention of it in AmStaffs. Which doesn't mean that it hasn't happened, but may not be common at all. Not sure about SBTs though, again I didn't come across anything when looking though.
  6. They can be prone to cysts. Infact there are a number of blue breeds that skin isnt an issue but it is known in staffies to be a major issue Then it must be due to another reason apart from the dilute reason.
  7. Doesn't happen in Danes.... We have skin problems across the board But in all seriousness, our Harlequin lines seen to be more affected and they're pretty much related to one another somewhere along the lines.
  8. Dante was absolutely fine and went for his first walk the day he came back home, it's not major surgery for the boys.
  9. This thread isn't about the politics of Prongs, simply to discuss the new style.
  10. Please go back and read my post.
  11. Breeders are responsible for what they breed, if they have bred a dog that is ill or has any problems that are not the direct result of the owner then they are responsible.....obviously not accounting for older age related issues. Sure it may be a one off but they still bred the dog. The thing here is the vet in concern can no way state what the breeder wants in the report. Sorry matey but I think personlay you need to financially backup this puppy owner. If the Breeder could have prevented it then they are responsible. If they bred the dog and haven't seen the problem before but the owners aren't at fault then the breeder is responsible - maybe not to the full extent as full financial coverage but they are still responsible and have to be held accountable for what they bred if the Owner comes knocking. A breeders committment is a very big one and this post is no way Breeder bashing but I can't see any Breeder worth their salt trying to wriggle out of something like this.
  12. What is it exactly abou Blue Staffies that have skin issues over other colours?
  13. Nup, we only and have metal bowls, and the dog that got is is super healthy and never a problem. She still carrys the scarred skin from this condition years later. We were more inclined to think it was a spider bite.
  14. Your Vet needs a swift kick up the rear because that comment is completely unfounded, they can not state that as they can not prove that. Atopic allergies have a genetic component. Has any allergy testing actually been conducted or is the Vet just an a super guesser? But does your breed have a pre-disposition to this condition because upon reading about it it seems as this condition isn't just random, the dog you bred has to have some sort of sensitivity to have had this condition to start with? https://www.vetconnect.com.au/5min/data/05560556.htm I'd be asking for a 2nd opinion and then comparing the reports. I'm not sure what you're referring to when you mention DNA - if there are no genetic tests for this condition then you can't make any comments here.
  15. LOL this thread is a crack up! OP - Please stop reading this thread and just get in a qualified behaviourist....if you follow all the advice here your dogs will end up nut cases as will you! LOL
  16. You don't understand Jan Fennel methods It's not actually eating any of the dogs food....pretend...
  17. How low are we talking % wise? Dane pups grow up in low protein.
  18. We've had that!!!! The Vet didn't know but it got worse Day by Day, she went on Anti-biotics and it took a long time to heal.
  19. Whoooa Nelly! Goodness....way to over react! It was a tiff over food, big deal....all you serve to do by placing unnccessary stress on the owner is make them more anxious around their dogs which could cause the problem to esculate further. I'm not saying a tiff isn't serious...but a fatality :p My advice is to feed them seperately for the moment until you can have a Behaviourist come and have a visit with you. My personal belief if that dogs should be able to eat in peace without competition for their food so I always feed seperately. I also believe that you can not 'pick' which Canine you want to be top dog over the other and by trying to do you can create problems. I'd go ahead and take the Behaviourists advice about how to lead your pack but right now, I'd just take a deep breath and chill
  20. Oh deary me, I just watched that and that man was just....
  21. But where do you get them from? I've found Rabbit reallu hard to get.
  22. Hi Corvus, He's been on Salmon for a year prior to being on this Vets All Natural diet, I ran out of V.A.N and gave him Fish for one meal and he had a huge reaction...go figure....dogs are stupid. I have a Halal butcher close by who has it but it's like off cuts...more bone that meat.
