  1. I didn't get my knickers in a knot? I'm explaining why I didn't find it amusing as it didn't seem like people understood why others didn't find it amusing. I didn't report it. I'm not for one moment suggesting that you found those photos amusing on their own, I'm looking at this at the video in its' entirety. If those pictures were replaced by ones of animal cruelity how would you feel then? Edited to clarify: To me it's more about the appropriate use of images and I don't personaly feel tragic war photos are appropriate to use in something that is meant to be comedic, hopefully I've explained myself well enough there. If you found the whole video amusing obviously that's up to you but to suggest someone has their knickers in a knot or is some how wrong in their opinion because they didn't doesn't seem terribly on the ball does it?
  2. I also think its important not to assume that every bout of hives or skin condition is an allergy too. There are many many non-allergy related reasons for hives and other skin complaints and we are far too quick to label everything as an allergy. This is what gives rise to the claims that allergies were cured, or X miracle treatment worked for this allergy, etc. A true allergy is never cured, it cannot be done, they are only manged to prevent flare ups and treated when a flare does occur. Absolutely!
  3. I'm not sure of this, but I think you might have been fortunate to get it through? My understanding is that it is illegal to send bloods via ordinary post and that to send it internationally you are supposed to make a declaration confirming it to be blood serum - this so that it does not get caught up with customs. What method of post did you use? I'd be a bit concerned that there'd be times when it was held up, and what would become of the blood serum in the meantime and whether it would be 'testable' when it got there, or possibly give false negatives?? (Don't know much if anything about that side of things.) Yep, on the Jean Dodds site, if gives you the declaration to put on the outside of the packaging for Customs. Jean Dodds provides very strict instructions for how to the blood just be taken, spun and packaged etc.
  4. Yeah I think it must be, I'm only in my early 30's yet the photo of a girl running through the streets naked because her clothes burned off her and her flesh burning isn't that amusing.
  5. Centitout, I just think it's important we don't make assumptions with Humans Vs Dogs as they do work different in many cases.
  6. Nothing like good old common sense for supervising dogs with dogs if they're destructive.
  7. That doesn't make it ok. You're the boss, you need to get in there are tell him that is not an appropriate way to approach, put him on a lead for meet and greets if you have to. I take my boy to the off lead park once a week on lead to address a problem I have with my boy who rushes forward at dogs, he has to learn what is an appropriate way and what is not an appropriate way to say hello is and he also has to learn to ignore dogs like yours which is hard work for a dominant little prat like my boy.
  8. I guess you if you go back to the wolf theory that when the pack seperates and then comes back together the pack order has to be confirmed again.
  9. Be careful not to add very hot water to Kibble as it destroys protein and the pro-biotics on the outter part of the kibble. I soaked Dante's food when he was a baby as that is what my Breeder had suggested although I don't see a problem with not soaking if they're eating fine. Any of the premium kibble ranges for Giant Breeds would be suitable i.e. Royal Canin, Eagle Pack & Eukanuba. I'm pretty sure you got a fair bit of advice originally in the M&M thread.
  10. I think you're taking a risk taking a child into a dog park which can be a rather primal place however you are the childs Mother and I'm sure you'd supervise that child and ensure it behaved appropriately and safe guarded it from dogs that didn't seem to behave in a manner you felt comfortable about. For whatever reason, my boy as a young dog tried to hump children who were sitting down, no idea why, probably the easiest way to feel a sense of dominating something when he was feeling his oats but I'm not sure if that is common with other dogs or just my brat...he doesn't do this anymore however if I saw children in an off lead dog park I'm not sure I'd want to let my dogs off, not that I don't trust them but because they're big dogs and children are unpredictable and don't often make the best decisions of you know what I mean.
  11. I reckon, see if you can visit a local Breeder so they can see what your Children are like with the dogs and that may help settle their nerves a bit.
  12. My dogs would also kill small animals such as Rabbits if given half the chance. Sounds like pretty standard behaviour from a dog (yes, I know some dogs live just fine with small animals) I'd be telling the Owner to make the hutches much more secure.
  13. I think his books are great in terms of actual information based on science.
  14. I just ask because sometimes if it doesn't wash out properly it can look like Dandruff and cause some itching. If your dog already sufferes allergies this could be staph in his coat.
  15. I don't think so, I understand some breeds seem affected by them such as Labradors? My boy has never had a hot spot and has a number of food allergies.
  16. Did you wash him in the last week?
  17. I would suggest you start with a consultation with your vet to try and pin-point the problem before you waste your money on trying different foods when food allergies are actually more rare than people are led to believe. I have an allergic dog and sensitive kibble in different brands doesn't do anything for him. He's currently on the Vets all Natural diet.
  18. So sorry to hear this. It's a tricky situation. You can understand a dog being aggression if in pain, however I guess you have to try and figure out if the dog is acting aggressively because it is in pain. I've had a dog with severe Hip & Elbow Displ. but was not aggressive, he just didn't have that it in his DNA if you know what I mean. Can you dose the dog on a good amount of painkillers under the Vets supervission and then see if the agro disapears?
  19. Bloat Study on Giant Breeds here: http://www.dmantugs.com.au/Attachment1_Bloat_Study.pdf My dog has not bloated although those in his direct family have - no known contributing factors.
  20. wow I'm impressed with a side order of horrified at that How can I put this talent to good I ask?
  21. Dante loved his and successfully destroyed it within 10 minutes LOL
  22. In any case where aggression is occuring please seek the help of a qualified Behaviourist.
  23. Hormones haven't been given to Chickens in Australia since the 70's, they are however given Anti-biotics.
