:D Great Gimmick....it's just a kids tent, nothing special about it. Fabric crates are fine of the dog doesn't chew. I put my Great Dane sized CC crate on the roof racks but have had a soft crate that fits in the Hyundai.

You are giving your puppy an area to go toilet right like a toileting pad? Toileting in their bed is not normal even if you don't give them a toilet area.

Goodness. Good luck, I hope everything works out and your bitch continues to be a good Mum! The Breeders thread should be able to help you further

The Surprising Science Of Motivation
sas replied to Aidan's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Just watched the video and read through your responses but I still don't get how this is relevant to dogs especially the ROWE theory? -
I'm in my 30's which is probably not as old as the OP was referring to, although as a child I heard of pups being put in a bucket. None of my familes pet dogs were bred and were desexed before 12 months of age. We had fences but the dicipline was very hard but my memories of those dogs were that they were happy and well behaved not cowering or scared etc. None had health problems until old age and old age was 11-16. Our dogs always came from the SPCA. Kittens were natural in petshops, pups were not, if you saw them in a pet shop it was an oopsay dasiy mating.

Flea's aren't anything to be ashamed about, all dogs encounter fleas at some stage whether they are inside or outside dogs Also fleas have to bite the dog before they die generally so they could still be irritating the dog St Johns Wort is a herbal remedy for depression and is actually clinically proven. My dog went on it after he came of Clomicalm, he was weaned off it about 8 weeks ago and is doing really well. Something as simple as Vit. B can help dogs with mild behavioural problems as can trace elements, simply being slightly defcient in one mineral can spark a human or canine body to play up physically and mentally. I give my old girl Valerian during storms and she'll settle down and go to sleep.
-
Dogs do suffer depression, it is scientifically documented, it would seem cruel to not treat it....a human left untreated can commit suicide. Just because it's a dog doesn't mean anything treatment orientated is 'new age' when something is related to the possiblity that an animal can think and feel. Biting near the tail is know as a flea allergy. As humans we can help dogs through these changes to their family/environment by acting normally around them and not pandering them. Where needbe herbal treatments such as Rescue Remedy and Valerian can be given and if they dog is really bad a Behaviourist or Vet Behaviourist can help access the dog and devise a treatment plan.

Gees Sas I am thinking of sending you Cider to train for stays. There is no way any of my kids could cope with what was thrown at Dante. A job well done Deal and I'll send Dante to you and you can make him look like the heels your dogs do! LOL at least I wont have to bend over to reward him

As for videos, I like this trainer, we use her videos in the Slow Dane Challenge in the Dane Thread: http://www.youtube.com/user/kikopup#p/u/45/wgjMtYvZIIY

That is the thing, you can't let the dog win all the time, as then they think they are the stronger. Kenny loves playing tug of war, even though he weighs nearly as much as me, I make sure I win most of the time, so he knows who's the Alpha & if I think he is being to dominant, I tell him to "drop it", which he does. TOW is only bad if you let the dog always win. Most medium + dogs know they're stronger than their owners. Playing tug correctly is about motivate and self control not who is stronger.
-
Tug of war is a fun game that can teach the dog plenty if played correctly. I reccomend this video for those who aren't sure of which way to go and how to tug correctly: http://www.youtube.com/user/kikopup#p/c/F0.../24/x9mPoWuvnLg

If your dog appears normal, maybe give it a couple of days to see if the stools return to normal colour after the curry eggs? If you're really worried and/or your dog seems not itself in anyway pop off to the Vet
-
The normal dossage is 1 x capsule (1000mg) per 10kgs of body weight. You'll notice it in soft stools if you're giving too much, you usually need to work up to the full dossage. You must give Vit E if you're giving Fish Oil, you can get some Fish Oil Capsuals with Vit E in them. There are Canine ones you can buy that has everything in it such as: http://www.naturevet.com.au/prodetails.php?pid=87

I'm sure you can! Dante is the most challenging dog I have ever worked with, even after nearly 3 years we're not hugely bonded, That challenge was over 2 weeks, go the clicker!

Hey Guys, We just finished the Stay with distractions Dane thread challenge, the video is here:
-
My current 2 don't play, however with previous fosters, rough play gets chucked outside and if I personaly think it's too much I tell them to calm down, although in saying that it's hard to say as we can't see your own dogs in action.

haha I tried that also but he still doesn't like it. I put him on top of the washing machine - he is used to it as this is where he get blowed dried and groomed. I actually tried what the youtube video did. He doesn't mind me touching his nails or putting the clipper on his nails now which is good... but as soon as he senses the clipper cutting down, he will mouth me.... I would go right back to basics on the clicker work so he accepts it, if he's still fussing he's not there yet. I had a dog that would bite hands also with nail trimming and the clicker worked, just don't feel you have to rush the clicker work. I'd go with the nail file and work up to the nail trimmer and maybe get a different one.
