  1. I have an axiety wrap, it's good. Take a few uses. My only problem is that I didn't want to be putting a wrap on my dog when it was hot and most storms in Sydney are when it's humid. There is another thunder jacket and it's not tight, it's loose and works by doing something with the energy storms create in the air: http://www.stormdefender.com/ This is the one we have: http://www.thundershirt.com/?gclid=COz_5YL...CFY0vpAod0kgIYw
  2. WOW - there are people out there with agility BC's who don't have the rear end movement that this guy has. You have done a terrific job as I can only imagine that it is like trying to back a bendy bus and I mean this in the nicest possible way. How old is your boy and how long did it take you to get to where you are now with the pivoting? He's approaching 3 years of age with a mental maturity of approx. 2 months of age LOL Our first clicker session to start off the targeting for Pivoting was 12.11.09: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OurJndZm1go LOL Danes tend to have ZERO rear end awareness, to me he still needs alot more!
  3. SAS - I am really a softie at heart BUT I am still waiting for you video I am here to help and offer advice to those of you who are looking at entering the obedience ring. I started from scratch and i only wish I had somebody take me under their wing. I used to stand outside the ring and when a handler came out I would ask them 100 questions - living in the country and with my first dog its the way I learnt. I promise I will be gentle.......and it wont hurt a bit ;) The last one I have is from late 2009 but it's from the obedience class and about 9 minutes long, I don't think you're that intrigued to see how shit I am LOL At the moment I'm doing clicker challenges in the Dane Thread, last one was a Pivot turn, we're still working on it but when the challenge finished this is where we were: (Technically not really a pivot, we tried but the big boof couldn't physically pivot, it's a work in progress) You can't take a sideward step and have him re-join you at heel, he doesn't understand that, we have tried putting a lead around his body as well to help hm but noooo LOLMy major issues as I see them: My footwork is bad.....I NEVER EVER step off on my right foot for Stays, I want to but my brain won't let me! My about turn footwork is poo. Dante is a Dane, breed should never be used as an excuse although they generally are fairly slow creatures LOL One of the recent problems I seem to have created is that when he recalls he doesn't stop in front of me to sit anymore he runs to return to heel so I have had to go back to step one to have food for him on approach. Sits and drops are pretty crooked too BUT he can do them straight... MMM what else! Also forgot to say Dante has Osteo-Arthritis, this can sometimes effect him, however sometimes it's hard to know whether it's is his back or him being a wank as to why he's not doing something Here's the video from the obedience night (look for the Harlequin Great Dane): This one is just some backyard stuff from April after he hasn't been trained in god knows how long due to health issues: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rOomoyrGRiE
  4. Resort to red wine - I did I'm not sure how this will help!
  5. LOL Well may I say well in advance of me posting any video's, I am a rubbish handler with horrendous co-ordination and probably does everything technicaly wrong for trialing BUT I do want to get CCD done this year....I'm hoping to be able to walk in a straight line before 2011!
  6. LOL I would be scared to post here, the people who I think are doing good got told otherwise!
  7. Calm shell works for me, I haven't found that any dog has been able to empty enough in one day to not have water to drink.
  8. Thanks, I've been looking for afforadable Roo treats and have placed an order.
  9. Pounds don't release dogs if not claimed in VIC I thought?
  10. If you're talking about the show ring Sas, I think some of them are. Fat is not a substitute for muscle and a Lab shown in "hard working condition" does not lack a tuck or a waist. A Lab should be fit and lean enough to do this: Show ring? I'm talking about a dog not where it goes. In Condition = In the right condition - lean and not overweight like most Labs and Goldies are.
  11. Awesome, I'm truely overjoyed that you are having some success!
  12. A Labrador or Goldie who is actually in condition is a sight to behold and many people will think they are overweight.

    Help

Crate to fix it for now and if you want him out of the crate and to travel on the car seat you might want to get in a behaviourist to help. Crate is the safest bet though!
  14. My bitches tattoo faded and couldn't be seen so she was put under and discovered the be de-sexed....it's just an incision wound if they are desexed and GA which most dogs are fine with. Nothing Contraversal to me.
  15. mmm I wonder if Dante like Baileys on the rocks?
  16. Na, my dog doesn't get noticeably happy or chilled out on pred.
  17. No idea, I do know people with Danes who have bloated and they have given degas and it has helped.
  18. I have a friend who went to a Sydney tracking club, they weren't very nice to her and she had a tracking breed, something about if tracking isn't the only thing you do then you're not giving the club what they want....100% dedication, no conformation showing or anything else like that....jackasses....
  19. We keep De-Gas and give 1 tablet per 10 kilos of dog if they bloat.
  20. Look! A Dane in the CCD ring! (about to recall) It was so great to see one in there! Lovely to see! I'd love to know who she is!
  21. Agreed! Not the same as tracking, but I get all sorts of comments doing obedience with my beagle. Some people think it's a bit of a joke and don't think you'll do well at it or ever be much competition. Proving them wrong is the best revenge Same doing Obedience with a Great Dane, Breeds should never be used as an excuse not to train ones dog I think.
  22. Any dog can track and it's a disgusting attitude to turn people off it because they're dogs may not be complete naturals, trainers should be encouraging people to work with their dogs and build relatioships rather than leaving them in the backyard.
