Can I ask why you need to pick him up? Can you just treat him like a bigger dog who can't be picked up by its' owner?

Help! Hey Guys, my boy has Osteo Arthritis and recently has started to drop in his sit stays......now the problem is that he is of the lazy breed variety LOL How do I tell if him breaking position is due to being uncomfortable or being lazy? I can record him doing it if that may help? I've tried dosing him on his pain meds on Obedience night BUT the pain med is Tramal which is the only med he can have whilst on Cortisone and it takes too long for my command to get to his brain when he's on Tramal so I feel kinda stuck as to how to figure this one out.

That's a question for your Vet.

Dante heard that and got very excited!

Same here, my dog immediately reacts to super high energy dogs like Staffies. We are working with him to ignore them as they aren't being aggressive just way over the top. We do work once a week in an offlead park, we work on lead and use the other dogs as part of our training.

Skin allergies are because of an over-active immune system so you don't want to 'boost' the immune system. Although what you probably want to do is go more natural and remove presavtives and fillers from the dogs diet, therefore going natural would be a good idea.

mmmm I'd be a bit iffy with a Breeder who didn't know one of their pups had an Overbite and it was the Vet who found it. Are you buying from a Registered Breeder? The overbite shouldn't be a problem granted it's not grossly over, perhaps you can ask to speak to the Vet before the puppy is shipped. You want to see the results of the health testing before you get the pup.

It's not always fine for dogs, there is a tone of information out there relevant to Nettle. Dogs allergic to plants will typically be allergic to Nettle and a nettle reaction is typically not a small one. Vets are not typically educated in Herbal treatments so they really can't give much advice there, the individual would have to find a Holistic Vet.

Maybe you could mow the lawn? Sorry, I can't give you advice on giving Nettle, as mentioned before as far as I'm concered it's not suitable for allergic dogs. If your Dog is getting Vets All Natural with the Skin Supplement Powder and the Omega Oil and has been for 8 weeks and this is not working, you probably want to speak to your vet to get a referral to a Dermatologist?

Having Danes, we ramp our stairs, could this be an option for you? Our last home had about 15 stairs that we ramped, it can be done granted you have to room to ramp out so it's not too steep.

Oh boy, where are you reciting this from? Although you're on the right track, you've gone a bit astray. -
Just being sensible I think, watch what you eat and exercise. A massive generalisation here but it seems a huge percentage of handlers are actually ineed of a bit of TLC themselves. Running around the 2 ring twice shouldn't kill you. Oh and take the dog with you when you exercise so it's actually in condition when its' in the ring!

Don't roll your eyes at me....you're the one who said it! How can anyone research what dogs dream about, we can only assume really. -
I don't think you'll get your dog to drink the tea. A spot test is about applying a small amount to the skin and waiting 48 hours, if the skin reacts then you can't use it on the skin. You can't 'spot test' a liquid taken internally and if the dog doesn't react on its' skin doesn't mean it's not going to react to it internally. As far as I'm aware Nettle is a big no no in Dogs.

No one can possibly know what dogs dream about. If your dog is consistently being unsettled in sleep then you might like to consider something like Rescue Remedy or Valerian prior to bedtime. -
Help Please! Problems With Going On A Walk

______________ My partner has this huge ego-trip when it comes to me telling him how it is with Lola. Last night, Lola was getting confused, because I am the one doing the exercises with her, but my partner is int he background yelling "sit, stay". I hear you, I went through the same with my partner many years ago, we're now on the same page and I can tell you the dogs are very happy and clam as they know it is expected of them, we both treat them the same and expect the same. -

You and your partner need to be on the same page. I really do feel you need some one on one training before heading to a group obedience school where you may be left behind and then become stressed in the situation. Perhaps you can express this to your partner. I have learned in the past that if you're not on the same page, it can drive a wedge between the humans in the family and create stress and tention which the dog picks up on. The dog needs its' humans on the same page because dogs learn through consistency. I don't think anywhere here can help you with anymore suggestions, it's going to be up to you and your partner to get on the same page and seek some professional training so the dog can finially settle down and be calm which is only fair to the dog. -
A lot of dogs are allergic to Nettle and the reaction itself can be pretty bad. If you're looking at using Nettle, do a little spot test first. Calendula tea use as a skin spray is better.

I've asked someone with an aggressive off lead dog at an off lead dog park to leave before. You have the right to nicely or firmly ask someone to control their dog.
