Hip/Elbow Scoring is just the start, you have all the dogs behind those dogs too. If you want factual information, rather than googling that can give you any answer you want, you may want to have a call with the specialist this person is seeing with the dog.

Was great to watch the video, I wonder how pricey they will be.

She Is Humping Him... What Can I Do?
sas replied to bobchic's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
We don't have to share any 'theories' because they're not theories....dogs are pack animals and that's a fact and when you don't treat a pack appropriately you get issues. Your BF needs to grow up because humping isn't funny. -
It Might Be Time To Make The Hardest Decision... :(

*Hugs* My previous dogs haven't grieved for the dogs that didn't come back but you know your dogs the best and whether you think having the other dog sniff the body is going to be the best thing. -
Hope you're not talking about me, sas, cause I don't get my turkey necks from him. I tried but he said he couldn't get them?? Ohhh poo!!! What were you getting form him?

It's not unusual for a Dane pup to be on the skinny side, it's not a bad thing for them at all as you want to grow them lean. The pups tummy shouldn't be that sensitive though, have you had a chance to chat to your breeder about it? From memory many Dane pups do up to 6-9 cups per day broken into 3 meals, that's not to say this is what your pup should be on but you may want to go back and have a look at the feed instructions your breeder gave you or what's on the pack to confirm you are giving the right amount. You might also like to pop into the Great Dane thread on this forum, there are 2 Vet Nurses there and some Breeders: http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?show...&start=3645

Don't be too concerned at this age, I'm sure he'll fill out when his body is ready to. Tuckertime is a good balanced dog roll.

umm sas, don't you think this would be more appropriate in Off Topic? Damn I'm always getting my forums mixed up!

This guy can get you turkey necks even though they're not on the website, he gets them for another DOL member: http://www.justfood4dogs.com.au/

Should I Report This? Or Let It Go.. Update: She Came Back
sas replied to lovemesideways's topic in General Dog Discussion
If the owner was was sorry, was dog savvy and this was just an out of the blue thing that happened and you knew that I would say just let it go for this time.....BUT the Owner ignored the situation & wasn't accountable so report her ass pronto. -
Meet My Foster Girl .. And A Bit Of A Vent For Good Measure
sas replied to yellowgirl's topic in General Dog Discussion
Good Luck with everything. I always reccomend help from a behaviourist when dealing with any types of Behavioural issues especially if she's meant to be re-homed as you can't rehome a dog who will bite people...good on you for giving this pooch a go. Just don't baby the dog, I'd give it a decent dose if ignoring whilst it settles in. -
My parents took on an 11 year old Goldie, they enjoyed his last years as did he. If you can offer a good life to an old dog I think that's great. Getting another dog won't extend her life....her life is set at whatever it is.....give decent food, a little exercise and of course some love

We've used a glass of warm water with sugar mixed in it, simply pop cup over the penis for a little rinse...the sugar encourages the licking too. Someone on here told me that, we've used it a couple of times.

Both, the conformation of the dogs are just terrible especially for such a large dog. If you're going to be a BIG dog you need good conformation to be able to hold you together. The bigger they are the harder they fall and add crappy conformation to that and the shorter life and more complications you get.

My Rescue does something similar, I feed her where she can relax.....an enclosed space where nothing can enter, once she is used to this I'll take her back to the yard and stand there whilst she eats so I can address her right then and there.

Bit tricky walking a table breed into it's front though! Maybe a catwalk!!! (okay a dogwalk then! ) I have a Great Dane....lovely height!
-
Goodness, he has no depth of chest at all, I can't imagine he'd live a long life. Looks like this boy - George - has beaten him anyway- -- Titan is 4 years old - apparently he's also deaf, blind and epileptic... -- http://www.signonsandiego.com/news/2010/fe...ds-tallest-dog/ I wouldn't be proud if it were dog or one I bred, horrendous examples of the breed that is going to catch up with them

Yep that is correct, it was a medical condition.

To Hoover a dog? I thought I'd give it a go, Dante's dropping a fair bit of hair lately and I thought surely there must be an easier way than to brush for an hour! So out comes the trusty Clicker! Part I: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ls-ztai_hY4 Part II (Success!): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PoOy3Ai3Fvs I'm wearing my PJ's in them but I'm sure you don't mind

Why my dog is not desexed is not relevant in this thread. There is a good and responsible reason. You don't have to explain yourself anyway, it's irrelevant to your question. Keep on topic guys and don't railroad this thread, this OP obviously needs some advice from experienced people....that would probably be Breeders in this case or experienced individuals who have worked with instances like this before.
