Good Luck! I'm glad you got the outcome you were looking for

Give the dog a wash down with just water and see if that assists. Watch for signs of skin chemical burns.

I haven't read what others have said yet but from what you have said...your puppy sneaks away from you to pee and doesn't tend to pee when you take it outside would indicate to me that at some point you have scared the puppy when it has made an error with toileting inside and so now he thinks you don't like it to pee where you can see it. I would suggest you just give the toileting command outside and you walk back inside and close the door and watch from a point the puppy can't see you and then open the door and give verbal praise if puppy goes toilet. And when inside never let puppy sneak away from you.

We've used it, it's a good wee product! Did you find it better than Malaseb? Less drying? Any ideas on a good conditioner to use with a medicated shampoo? Yeah much gentler than Malaseb. I don't think you'll need a conditioner with it, we didn't.

When my boy was a pup he was horrible to my older girl and my older girl wouldn't repremand strong enough to get him to stop so we stepped in and any interaction the pup had with the older dog had to be onlead and we would correct his behaviour, he didn't get to be with her off lead until he was about 6 months old when he could pay her a bit more respect.

LOL some do it from very young ages others tend to delay their humping for some months. It's all normal, just don't give it any attention, don't correct the puppy for it or laugh or anything like that, just pretend it's not happening

You may want to revisit your technique, some dogs will not automatiocally sit when you hold a treat over their head. What you could do is place your puppy in a corner of the room so when she backs up she leaves herself little option but to sit if she wants the food. Another method is to simply hold the treat in a clenched fist and let the puppy smell it and actually wait for them to sit which may take a few minutes and then say "Good Sit!". At 7 weeks she is still meant to be with her litter learning socialiation, bite inhabilition etc. So don't push it.

I'm sorry, but I don't believe at 8 weeks your puppy has 14 commands proofed. I understand like parents, owners can be really proud of their puppies but to others reading this, don't expect your puppy to be at that level, it's unrealistic.
-
If your Red Heeler is not correcting the puppy you need to step in now and every time and correct the puppy. In sayign that you shouldn't leave the correcting up to the mature dog either. The only time puppy should be near your mature dog is whilst it is on lead and the interaction is being controlled by you. Some pups are right brats and will harass the older dogs really badly. Are you going to puppy pre-school? I would suggest you ask for a behaviourist to come and visit you to teach you how to teach your puppy boundaries.

Scrotal Chafing After Shaving For Surgery
sas replied to grabonsam's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I don't know how big your dog is but we nearly had to make a ball bag for our boy when he was going through a hyper sensative phase, we were going to make a contraption similar to a jewelry bag: In terms of creams, I wonder if Aloe would be any good as it's cooling - just to make the dog comfortable not to prevent the chafing. -
Just a tape test off the foot isn't it?
-
Sure why not if you have the $ Remembering that they don't do as full panel tests here as they do in America.

Bio oil tends to work pretty well.

We decided not to go down the derm route primarily because the majority of the people we spoke to spent thousands and didn't get a good result. I guess you don't know until you try. After 2 years and thousands upon thousands of dollars trying to treat our boy, the only thing that is working is a homeopathic treatment program. The thing about having an allergic dog is it is expensive because unless you try stuff you don't who whether it will work and that's including the alternative treatments.

Probably give them the runs if you give to much.

awww bless him. He looks a little on the chunky size so I'd probably knock his food down because they less weight is is carrying on those joints the better and considering he's not going to be getting any decent exercise anytime soon he won't need such a high food intake. Bugger he is in Brisbane, there is a great rehab place in Sydney that has an underwater treadmill as well, maybe contact them and see if they could reccomend anyone in your area? http://www.sydneyanimalphysiotherapy.com/treadmill_1.html

You'll a lot out of it!

Yep, don't go anywhere else but Luci's!

Na, right on time actually as I hadn't been able to get enough information for the previocu Journal, I'm actually putting together my own herb garden as we speak!

When i was overseas in Bali people who had dogs would feed mainly rice diets to their dogs. They were fine. Also, vegatable oil is fine to feed but omega oils are better. I dog could live on Bigs Macs too, doesn't mean they're doing him any favours

We've had the desentising injections, we did them about 9 months without any change. There is a lady on DOL who used them on her GSD with success. It's really one of those things that you don't know will work until you try it. You'd definately want to go ahead and do the food trial. I also have a giant breed and you are safe to start messing with foods from around 10 months of age when the dog comes out of the critical growth period. Your dog is 2 so it's growth plates should be closed by now as well. I don't think you would refer to your dog as a growing dog, it should be done now and just have filling out to do? I believe the allergy to ants would be in form of a bite, although you may like to check with your Vet. The blood allergy tests aren't concidered that great, not many professionals have that much faith in them, if your dog isn't on Cortisone you may be better off heading to the specalist and having the Intra Dermal testing done. After 2 years of hell with our boy being an allergic dog, Cortisone for 2 years, loads of lotions and potions and medications we stumbled upon these guys: http://www.healwithease.com we ended up doing their $250.00 Consultation package where you have an online consultation with them, and they send you all the homeopathic tonics and provide all the support you need. We're pleased to say Dante comes off his Cortisone next week after being weaned down and is itch free. There are loads of itchy dogs on DOL and one persons cure or one thing that assists may not assist your dog, it's a case of trial and error that is for sure.

Dogs really shouldn't eating rice on a long term basis so that's why I personaly don't think it's great to give Rice Bran Oil, also considering some dogs have food intolerances to Rice in foods?
-
How about some omega 3, 6 & 9 oil?
