  1. Same issue with Harlequin/Coloured Great Danes. I think 'some' breeders may over look the skin issue believing that if they breed a skin affected dog to a dog that does not suffer skin conditions it will be ok, but if the problem is genetic that seneiro will not work. It's really a hard one because you could choose a Sire that looks fine but he may carry a gene for bad skin. I don't think we know enough yet on the scientific side to assist with breeding.
  2. Yep, I've used it on my Great Dane with skin issues and I'm a fan of the product. I actually use most of their supplements.
  3. If you don't have any issues with your dogs and they're not pulling I'm confused to what you're asking... Ceaser himself allows his dogs out in front on leashed walks if they're behaving and in the right frame of mind,
  4. Probably best to call the BP to let them know. No need to feel bad, we own dogs...this kinda thing happens from time to time...
  5. What a positive story, thanks for sharing.
  6. That's a shame, the Eqyss shmpoo for itchy dogs certainly soothes my very itchy dog and the Mircotek spray clears up Bacterial infections we get often as a secondary elements to his allergies. Pyohex makes my dog red raw and very sore. So I don't think there's a need to be narky in your above post, clearly different things work for different dogs. In addition, you wouldn't let a hot spot get to such a stage that it would sting when Listerine is applied, I had thought that would be common sense, however I'll be sure not to assume next time.
  7. Probably suggest she goes to the Vet would be the best course of action. I hardly think the dog is protesting because it doesn't like the Shampoo.
  8. Nappysan (Was told that by a Groomer....not tried it myself) Listerine Eqyss Microtek Spray
  9. It's not a fault. Many a dog has small testicles, as long as the testes have dropped that is what is considered 'normal'.
  10. It's a Grey area (show ring).
  11. Wasps are all over the dog poo in our yard too so I'm having to be super effcient about picking up. I have no idea why they are so interested, it's the first time I've seen it. I did hear that with all the heat the breeding of the wasps is ging crazy so perhaps something to do with that?
  12. Ah Ok, I might check with them to see if I can get the article for a gander.
  13. Hi Guys, I'm writing an article for my clubs Digest and I've noticed a few people talk about their dogs who apepar to self-medicate. If you have one of these dogs, It would be great if you could share your experiences, either here in this thread or via PM. Thanks heaps in advance
  14. I'd like to see an instructor try and Alpha roll my boy. It is so bloody dangerous for mature dogs. I don't actually mind submitting puppies, but that's just my personal opinion.
  15. yeah, I presume you've been to the Vet in the last month?
  16. Why do you feel it is unusual for larger breeds?
  17. If he came home with it I would be asking the Breeder if any of the other litter mates had it and what she believes it is and see a Vet for their opinion.
  18. From the photo it doesn't look like there is anything really wrong with the skin, just looks like it has been worn off by a collar or sleeping position etc?
  19. We have an issue at the moment of extremely bad dandruff from mid back down the back and legs and have been advised it is a staph problem, perhaps speak to your vet about it? If you think it's the Vit C, cease the Vit C for a week and see if things start to clear up. How much Vit C were you giving? The other thing is you are supplements EPO and Fishoil as well as a very good Kibble that already has Omega Oils in, so you could be way over doing it. Not getting the ratios of Omega 3, 6 & 9's can lead to skin issues like this as well. How come you are giving both LF cottage cheese & youghurt? Are you keeping to the ratios of additional meat added to EP? I think it says on the bag how much you can provide otherwise you can chuck the ratios out, ideally you don't want to be adding anything to the Holistic EP otherwise it's no longer holistic. Was he in this condition when you brought him home or did he develop the condition? Air conditioning can cause some distrubances with the skin especially if the dogs are sitting in it all day when they're not used to it.
  20. We gave up on plants with young dogs when we were foster carers, they'd always pull them out. Barrier it off with chicken wire if youw ant to have a garden or leave building a garden until the dogs are a bit older.
  21. My boy has some hairloss around the eyes although he rubs, does your dog rub its' face? I've had success with 2 products: Rufus & Coco Itchy skin Shampoo: http://shop.rufusandcoco.com.au/p-7-itch-relief.aspx Eqyss Microtek Medicated Shampoo: http://www.eqyss.com/equine_microtek_shampoo.asp Eqyss Microtek Spray: http://www.eqyss.com/equine_microtek_spray.asp Pets on the park stock the Eqyss, it's currently not on their website so you'd have to e-mail them about it: [email protected]
  22. My girl is a constant bum licker, 3 different Vets have never been able to find anything physically wrong with her.
  23. Oh that's sounds bad, what happened, was the dog ok?
  24. I'm not sure if you've seen this but it made my stomach drop. Is this a rare occurance or is there a need for a break away tire?
