  1. Elsie occasionally buries food if I have given her too much, Ping on the other hand buries treats, toys, food, bits of rubbish... Not in the dirt though, only down the couch, in a crate or in a blanket!
  2. I've seen it a couple of times, and I have attended a grand total of about 15 dog conformation shows in my entire life :)
  3. Love the latest photos - they are looking like proper little iggies now instead of gorgeous little lumps of puppy squishiness <3

  6. Looks nice cosmolo - I want artificial grass, looking after real grass is a pain!
  7. All the flatties I know are bonkers (in the best way! )
  8. It will be at the Canterbury Agricultural park in Christchurch, indoor part is in the riding for the disabled centre. I'm not sure if all the prelude shows will be there, they may be at the Canterbury Kennel Association which is at Mcleans island. They're about 30 minutes drive away from each other. Mcleans island is out by the airport, 30 min from city centre, and the agricultural park is about 15 mins from the city centre.
  9. I like to support a pet store that doesn't sell animals, that stocks a good range of NZ or Aussie made stuff, has a wide range of premium pet food for all species (finding decent rabbit food is SO hard and I've never met a pet store employee that knows anything about appropriate food for bunnies), sells toys suitable for use in sports/agility and if they sell quality dog gear that can be hard to get here that's a bonus (like hurrtaand ruffwear). A few pet stores here stock collars from small local collar makers that do a limited run of different ribbons so you can get some really unique collars

  12. You didn't know!! You must have been under a rock!!
  13. Go to a dermatologist, or find a regular vet clinic that can offer allergy testing such as Spectrum allergy testing.
  14. No agility posts since August! How is everyone doing? How's the agility coming along? What classes are you all doing at the moment? I have been SUPER slack and basically took all of last year off training & competing. I just kinda got bored of it all and couldn't be bothered... But back this year with two dogs now! Elsie is in the highest grade of jumpers & agility now so I have got my work cut out for me. She listens a lot better now and is a very reliable dog, I just need to be a more decisive handler for her! We definitely need to make up a few seconds on course before we're getting up into the placings, but have the rest of her agility career for that! In the last year and a bit we've done some OMD seminars and enjoyed a seminar with Orenius/ Emanuelsson which certainly changed the way I like to handle for Elsie. Ping is starting his first agility class next week - he is a year old now. We have got some basic foundations sorted, he can sit and wait, looooovveesss his toys, we're finally getting a play retrieve happening after months and months of hard work, he wraps noodles/jump uprights nicely and his free shaping, tricks and fitness work is all looking awesome! Planning on running contacts for Ping (tried and failed with Elsie and ST method... She was going well but I found it too hard without regular access to gear) using Dawn Weaver's method with a sprinkling of ST! For weaves I am hoping to mostly use channel weaves, and do a little bit of 2x2 for entries.
  15. Make sure you leave a note in your calendar to replace the food every so often. Even stuff you think will last forever gets a bit yuck after sitting for years! I think having basic first aid supplies for the dogs is a good thing to have in your kit too, with earthquakes you want to be able to deal with cuts and contamination mostly. ] Ensure your dog is registered on the NZ Companion Animal Register - it's a nationwide database so if he goes missing and his chip is scanned outside of your region they can still contact you easily.
  16. What absolutely gorgeous babies! Well done team :) I sooo hope we get to watch little Secret grow up! Black dogs are my fav! Especially shiny black sighthounds!!

  18. Sending lots of good thought! C'mon little Neko!
  19. Through my work I've seen a 6 month old puppy diagnosed with severe HD. We took the X-rays and our vets sent them to be evaluated by a specialist so we could find out if the dog was a candidate for any kind of surgery, and he said they were the worst hips he had ever seen. The dog was bunny hopping while moving prior to intervention, has muscle wastage and a bad limp on the really bad leg and tight/sore muscles. The dog also roaches its back while standing and doesn't stand with its weight squarely distributed. The dog isn't a candidate for surgery until fully grown, as the usual corrective surgery they do on dogs that young isn't an option, so they are managing with multi-modal pain management, physiotherapy, hydrotherapy and keeping her very light. In your situation, if you are really concerned, I would just go and get X-rays for peace of mind. If the dog is still exhibiting unusual movement and X-rays don't show anything I would be looking for a canine physio, or rehab vet to get to the bottom of it all.

  21. Loving this thread.... eeee baby iggies again! Neko's boyfriend is very handsome too, dark iggies are my favourite!
  22. Gorgeous isn't she! Oh and in other news, Ping finished his breed championship last weekend!
  23. A quick cellphone snap of our hunting crew out in the forest this evening! Our best friends
  24. I would think yard work is work done inside pens/yard, so backing sheep (running over top of them) and using voice to move them forward through the races. Paddock work in a paddock? :) Paddock work could be gathering a large mob of sheep from a large paddock and into a smaller pen, or mustering/moving the sheep long distance. I'm not a sheep person but that would be my guess Some huntaways in pens Huntaway doing paddock work Heading dog on a long head
