  3. This very much sums up where I'm coming from. I don't intend to comment on the particular case, because nobody knows, including the OP, what the truth of the situation is. I simply reacted to the idea that there is no obligation on a breeder to take back a dog they have bred. I don't accept that idea. Yes, people's situations change and sometimes there is a physical impediment to the original breeder actually taking the dog back into their home, however there are many other ways to be actively involved in ensuring a new home is found for the dog asap. In my experience in rescue, there are far too many breeders that are happy to take the dollars when the pups turn eight weeks, however eight months, two years, five years down the track, they can't help. Often, the dog is having to be rehomed because the choice of home wasn't suitable in the first place, responsibility for which lies squarely in the breeders' lap. When I end up with a dog being surrendered that has papers and I call the breeder to tell them a pup of theirs is in rescue, I get "So...??" Once, I was even told "oh, I couldn't possibly take the dog back, I've got two litters on the ground and haven't time or space!" As you can tell, I tend to have a fairly jaundiced view of some breeders. This is not the case at all. But I guess you are green to putting dogs/pups in homes and dont have the experience to know better. Oops! Guess you don't know who you're responding to. Presuming that Zenchel is the kennel name as well as the DOL name, it's hard to find a more experienced, informed, and conscientious breeder. now that IS funny and since she added her name to a previous post I imagine your assumptions are absolutely correct :D

I had an incident with one of my dogs at the weekend. My dog came back but not immediately she jumped a very high fence to get to the roo. I had her on a stop but the roo ran towards me and I had the baby puppy on the gorund which I picked up and was enough for my kelpie to go again, when the roo got over the fence...and he was huge...she took a couple of steps back and jumped it is over 6 feet! I have never been so scared in my life. Husband woken by commotion came to the fence and I gave him the pup and hopped in my car to try and locate the entrance to the paddock. It all happened in nanno seconds though..so fast. Sam came back apparently before my car was out of the driveway but I took off not knowing and it is amazing the adrenalin as my only concern as I walked through the paddock was for Sam and I ignored the roos who hopped away as I approached ..thank Dog none challenged me. Neighbour and husband were calling me that she was back and kind neighbour walked back to my car with me. I wasn't so brave then. Sam needed a shot of pain relief and is on some drugs to help with inflamation probably just caused by the massive jump and run through the heavily treed paddock. We have now high barricaded the fence to deter them. We have often had roos in the garden and I do roo patrol but was in a hurry to take puppy out for wee wees. They are big and scary and my heart goes out to all the poor people mentioned with their dogs especially the poor drowned dogs and this poor lady. I hope her bluey is ok. I feel so sorry for the roos and with development here are closer and closer to property being built. They have less space and the roos behind us are another mob so there are fights ...it is bush there but the trail bikes go up there and the roos run down. Poor things they are just trying to find a nice place to sit and eat and rest.
  8. most clubs will, ours do. I have not had one go astray before and usually there is a catalogue on click or some trial secretaries list entries recieved. We (SR)give the benefit of the doubt ...I mean why show up to trial and ask for your number if you haven't entered ?? Bad day but tomorrow will be excellent
  9. yep that'right so I will put today away and sleep on it. Felt like taking our jumps back but we always give the benefit of the doubt with posted emntries. The judging finished by 3 or earlier I think they could have fit me in from a 1.30 start. My dear Sam is much better now and puppy cuddles are making up for the bad day. thats what Ptolomy is speaking of, they didn't get my entry, so I wasn't allowed to run Hey PT how did the wedding go ? I wish them a long and happy life together
  10. she is just sore, vet gave her rimadyl and some pills. I will need to fast her for xrays, see how she is in a day or so, feeling very very sorry for herself. My PJ's are cute though The vet was brilliant and she told me that when anything happens with her horses she is also in the paddock in PJ's. Thanks guys for caring
  11. flaming Sammie just chased a roo at 6am. I didn't know it was in the garden, I had the puppy in my arms and called her but it was futile. I actually had her on a stop stay and the roo bolted towards me and puppy. I scooped up Eccles ducked for shelter and Sam went after the roo again and soared like a bird over the fence. I called her but couldn't see her. I jumped in the car to locate the paddock the roos are in which is difficult to get to. I eventually managed to get into the place behind us calling and calling... She had come back almost immediately but I was driving. She couldn't get back over the fence so John made a hole and the neighbour came to find me. She is sore and limping but nothing seems broken. I will rest her for a while and see how she is later. When I drove back through the gate another was in the garden, a smaller one which we managed to herd to another paddock as it couldn't or didn't want to jump the fence. All this time in my PJ's
  12. thank dog for that but there is a really nasty virus going around with a rotten cough, our grandson baby has had it for a few weeks, poor wee mite.
  13. blimey RS you have a sense of humour too. I decided to pop a clear round in any comp with Mr G into my bucket list I think we are going backwards. Maybe with a slower 600 ?? grow puppy grow :D
  14. he packed his bags but after a trip out with Dad is ok little monkey but soon as she grows up a bit he will be fine, Misambuca adores her oh so sorry to hear that whooping cough is awful, two of my kids had it in the 80's and it was very scary. Hope they all start to get better soon
  15. I'm guessing the Goon Show eta - oops I think I'm confused - eckythump was in The Goodies, not The Goon Show it is for the goon show and the goodies but I love Eccles cakes too, my mum used to make the best ones ever. I call my brother Eccles re the goon show and the saying 'eee ecky thump' is a saying I grew up with and loved the goodies take on it. Thankfully our fantastic breeders have the same silly sense of humour we have :D The breeder Kaye made the blanket for Eccles and my puppy pack was mind blowing even though they knew that I know most stuff they went through every little thing with me too. I am just so impressed and she is a beautiful well socialised puppy to dogs and people and kids and babies... exactly what I wanted to say nothing of being the same lines as my original golden all those years ago. We are very very happy and thnaks for your lovely comments. You will see her around the traps...might give retrieving a go and hopefully agility :D Anyone wants to come and visit in the next 4 weeks will be made very welcome !

  23. I have a great book called "Dogs Bite But Balloons and slippers are more dangerous". it might be a spin for you. Written by Janis Bradley. It works on statistics for instance cars cause thousands of deaths a day but we don't ban them. I know it is not what you asked for but it is the same when we get a shark death...kill the shark etc. The same day there would be road deaths in the same place but they rate only a mention. I am not for a second minimising the tragedy of a person or dog killed by another dog. Just thought you might be interested in the info to brng into your debate. There is also a chapter on breed identification follies.
  24. thought some of you might like to see my little Eccles 7 weeks yesterday
