  1. Posative healing thoughts going your way :-) good luck for the op..
  2. I love the idea of freezing water in an ice-cream container and putting food inside it, esp in summer :-)
  3. I agree with the focussed puppy I read it on recommendation from a fellow Dole :-) really is a good book..
  4. Hehe pretty much. I find myself unlocking my phone more often than I need to now! LOL that is funny LOL and thanks for the info, I imagine I will be doing the same thing ha ha!!
  5. Mmm OK so I might have a chat with the breeder on my first visit, maybe I could give her an old shirt so she could put it in with them for an hour or so before I pick him up? MEH I was looking at those but on eBay they are up in the $50/$60 mark thought that was a bit much if it was only needed for a short time..
  6. Ha yes Sway i was meaning that I had thought my scent would be fine as I said in my initial post that i would be holding him etc on the way home and then close contact once home. i thought maybe my scent would be a comfort when in the crate,,, but yes litter mates would be better, I am going to see if the breeder will take a towel from me to put in with them.. ( bad wording on my part )
  7. Thanks guys I was thinking just my scent would be fine.. I have a wheat pack so I may use that, he is coming home mid Jan so I may not need it..
  8. Hi everyone, I was thinking of purchasing a puppy comforter for my new pup, after researching I wonder if I really need to. Has anyone here used one and do you think it was worthwhile? Would it be better to give the breeder a towel to put in with the littermates? I was even thinking of putting my scent on his crate mat, I will be nursing him home from the breeder and having contact when first home, i was thinking then when in the crate he will have a familiar scent? I just want him to feel secure I guess :-)
  9. Congratulation! Having the breeder accept that deposit makes it seem a lot closer! Yes it does, I wanted to pay the full amount but restrained myself, I can't want to bring him home :D I love looking at my signature counting down the weeks
  10. Wow that is amazing, glad to hear your grandmothers dog has come out of it so well and is like a new dog ( dare i say younger dog )
  11. I can't edit on my tablet but that was waiting patiently lol..
  12. I paid my deposit last night :-) :-) :-) Waiting oariently for photos!!! The breeder has trouble with her computer ATM so can't email them just yet :-( so desperate to see them, they were only born on the 23rd we get to bring him home on the 21st January :-)
  13. I am so glad this topic came up.. I have read books that say never let your dog walk through a door before you, if they are laying in the path you need to walk never go round them etc etc.. I want to love my dog, cuddle my dog I do not want a robot.. I can see that dogs need to be trained but is it that bad for me to walk around a sleeping dog if it is in my way? Anyway I have decided to take what I think is correct information from books and ignore the over the top stuff or at least ask if I am unsure :-) Get to see pics soon of my boy OMG I am so frustrated I cannot wait :-)
  14. The dog I am talking about is a cattledog and their 3 children under 12 walk him, no lead though, he is unneutered also.. laugh it was the same lol.. small world..
  15. At the end of mine I wasn't able to drive as I couldnt reach the steering wheel!! I wasn't able to stand in the shower I had to use a special chair.. Plus being so very tired...
  16. As a person that has had twins it is hard work, even if your very organised you have no time to yourself let alone training pups.. I breastfed mine which was amazing but took a big chunk of time and I had a 4yr old and 2yr old. Does she have other children? I had no complications, went to 38 weeks but I will stress again No Time for yourself let alone 2 dogs... I hope she makes the right decision for herself and doesn't make more work for herself as that could get her down ..
  17. Looking forward to reading it, gotta love eBay :-)
  18. I agree this makes me so mad! We have a neighbour a few doors down that continuously leaves his big gates open.. My neighbour tells me that when we are not home his dog comes into our yard ( over holiday we are putting in a side panel to close off our yard) and terrorises our chickens, ( lucky they are well secured but still!) we have spoken to him a few times and this last time I said that I will be calling the council.. He now chains the dog up but still leaves his big gates open.. Mind boggles ...
  19. I agree Whitka, this house mate had no right to touch the dog.. I would be laying down the law to him, as you said you are minding this dog for a friend and I must say if I found out someone had touched my dog I would be devastated.. They have also asked "you" to look after their dog because they trust you, this housmate stepped over the line..
  20. Wow hasn't she grown and she is just as gorgeous!! She has a very stunning face
  21. Jealous!! I am counting down the "Weeks" until I get to see our boy let alone bring him home Cannot wait to see pictures
  22. This has been a very interesting read as I have been agonising what I should do when I go back to work.. We have cage with an open top that is a good size for a pup, t I was going to leave part under the deck and part on the grass so he has shade and grass. I am just really paranoid about someone taking him as we have an open grassy easement at the back of us.. I may just put the cage thing under the house where i can shut the door, it is cool and is enclosed its a big open concrete space that we did use as a rumpus room.. This is such a great forum to get ideas from
