  1. Muffin got her ADX and SD and has 2 JDM passes... is now mostly retired and gets one ish run at each trial if it isnt too hot. Oscar has 3 passes towards his ADX, got his JDX and has 2 JDM passes. he can go "out" at training but looks at me strangely if I ask hinm to at a trial They both had lots of fun this year and me with them AND now I have a new puppy to start training
  2. How is Clyde doing Daisy? My dog Oscar has just been diagnosed with Pannus

    Puppy Pens

I finally found these bunnings cages yesterday! They are brilliant! I bought the last two sets, and I've used one to split the dog run outside in half so that the cavs can have relief from pup, and the other is set up inside as a puppy pen. Means I can use my c-crate secura pen just for agility. Great system
  8. Thankyou PossumCorner, I'm watching that tutorial now
  9. Thankyou everyone Will do some searching on vignetting... and keep practicing to try and get my exposure right I'm slowly getting there with manual function (slowly slowly slowly :D ) And thanks Kja I will check out that link - I'll always take something thats free :D ETA: Here is my very first, kinda dodgy attempt at vignette with PS Oscar is all class of course, grass in his ears and everything ;)
  10. Ok, I'll say now I'm very very basic when it comes to photography LOL so please bare with me. I want to know how to get those photos where the subject itself seems sort of highlighted and the background is a little bit darker... is this something that is photoshopped or is it a photography technique?? I wanted to google but then since I didnt know what its called that proved difficult For an example of what I mean, Ruthless' photos of Pax's BC in the main bit of 'photos photos photos' shows what I am after.. http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?showtopic=171680 This one... lol. I have a canon eos 400D with the standard twin lens kit. Thanks for reading through my waffle
  11. Hey Kavik I think I was sitting with you yesterday while you were there, near Sue and Nicole who did your video-ing. Well done, it was great to meet you and I'm glad you enjoyed it
  12. My brag, yesterday muffin got her ADX title Shes been in excellent agility for years and its been a real battle to make time (though its strange she got her JDX quite easily and its a faster time!) I am so proud of her, many people told me to give up but I enjoy running her shes such a lovely dog I began to not care whether we made time or not, and all of a sudden things clicked into place and she even has a JDM pass. So she is now Issen Honey Blossom ADX JDX GD SD
  13. Ok, thanks guys I will come and watch And yes you make a good point, I guess watching the actually trialling levels as well as the 'beginner' tests would be interesting (apologies for incorrect terminology  )
  14. Are people allowed to watch herding tests? I know we sometimes get interested people coming and having a little watch of agility but not sure whether spectators are appreciated or not in herding, I'd hate to put anyone off. I'd love to go and watch some one day.
  15. Can capstar for large dogs be given as half a tablet for small dogs? Seems like that would save a fair bit of money. I am also fighting a losing battle against fleas and am at my wits end! Its supposed to be winter why arent they dead This is my first flea season as I never got them in Canberra ETA: Found the answer re capstar: http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?show...&hl=capstar
  16. poocow, are you going? If so, are you bringing the beautiful morgan for cuddles :D I haven't made up my mind yet if I'll go, as Muffin is out of action at the moment. Oscar could still have a go though...
  17. Thanks luvsdogs - it didnt even occur to me to look there :) I'm too used to the dogsACT website... note to self to bookmark the NSW one
  18. Hi all, sorry if this has been done, tried to do a search but found it difficult to narrow down obedience club and my area. A new puppy is possibly on the cards, and having only just moved to the hawkesbury area I dont know anywhere to do obedience... pup will eventually do agility and that is sorted, but need some ideas for an obedience club. I live in East Kurrajong so windsor/richmond area is closest to me (about 20 mins drive). I know that castlehill obedience is meant to be very good for positive training, its about 40 mins drive so doable but closer would be nice! (I already drive 2 hours a day for uni so chew up a lot of petrol as it is!) TIA Sarah
  19. Thanks Vickie you make some good points - and yes it could be much worse I have had people bang on his crate before which had some limited success, I might try it again and try to get it to happen *every* time he makes a fuss not just if they are nearby. I'm going to get a cover made for the c-crate pen so I'll be able to cover him in the same way that I cover his normal crate, so hopefully banging + darkness will make a difference. And if not I guess I'll continue to apologise to my neighbours and say feel free to tell him to shut up or bang on his crate I will try having him on a sit-stay when I train Muffin in the backyard also. Thanks
  20. Dont have an issue taking them anywhere on their own. I dont train Muffin at a club any more as I have moved, but I used to have oscar on one night and muffin on another and they were taken on their own, never once did they fuss or seem to notice the other was not there. Oscar still goes training (off my property) on his own and sometimes trials on his own and is fine, and is fine if I take him for a walk without Muffin. I guess if push comes to shove I could try leaving oscar in the crate (at trials) and muffin in the c-crate pen, and oscar would be less aware. Would rather fix the root issue though. Thanks for your help so far tonymc
  21. They spend a good deal of time together as they share a run while I am at uni. I make an effort to have one inside one outside and then swap while I am at home, and also leave one inside while I'm training and then swap again. I dont think that Oscar is pining for Muffin, I think he is just jealous that she is with me and he is not, at his favourite sport - because if I take muffin outside to train and leave him inside, he curls up on his bed and goes to sleep (he doesnt know that she is necesarily doing agility training I guess?) But I could be wrong.
  22. Hi, just looking for a few suggestions. I'm having an issue with oscar in that he was crate trained as a pup, is happy to go in his crate, even sleeps in there voluntarily if I leave one open in the house. BUT, when I am at an agility trial, he carries on like a pork chop if he is left in his crate and I am running Muffin. Doesnt carry on if they are BOTH in the crate (they share a big crate, always have at trials and have always been happy with that arrangement) - but he digs, chews, etc to try and get out if he knows Muffin is running. Covering the crate has improved it slightly, he now only tries for a minute or so and then gives up. I'm about to invest in a c-crate secura pen which obviously has no base, and I'm concerned he will be able to dig out under the c-crate so I'd like some suggestions on how to stop him from carrying on in the first place. I've tried setting the crate up at home and feeding him in there, sleeping him in there etc and he is fine with it, he enjoys it, its only when we are trialling that I have a problem so I'm at a bit of a loss. TIA Sarah
  23. I'm going to try and make the next one of these if I dont have agility... think the dogs will love it!
