  1. Thanks Wendy ETA: Got conned into entering the gundog trial on the 16th.. my car was getting serviced in canberra on the 15th anyway. Might see you there! otherwise have entered june 6th/7th aswell... I'm going to run out of petrol soon!
  2. Slight thread hijack - what age does everyone start training weavers? Both my dogs didnt start weaving until they were about 18mnths to 2 years when I started training everything else. Wondering if with next dog I can start a bit earlier... what age is recommended to avoid joint injury?
  3. Have a question about Frontline plus - as I have two small dogs (under 10kg), and intend to start treating them fortnightly with Frontline Plus, can I buy the 10 - 20kg packs of Frontline plus and give the dogs half a dose each? Seems a much cheaper way to do it, and I wouldnt have to worry about storing it like i would with only one dog... Thanks
  4. What I'd love to achieve in 09 Muffin: ADX and SD.. a few JDM passes would be nice but i dont think ti will happen Oscar: ADX, JDX, (GD - done!) Plus santa, I would like my dogs to magically learn to go "out" :D But most of all I just want my dogs to continue having fun in agility and be happy and healthy
  5. :D That doesn't really make sense does it... not letting you practice but then expecting your dogs to be able to do it! As I started training OScar a few years after Muffin, I just spoke to my clubs and said that I wanted to train the seesaw the way I described above, and they were fine with it. I guess it does depend on the club though....
  6. With Muffin, (first agility dog) I think we just lured her along to the end, handler lowering seesaw, or sometimes the seesaw was stopped by a table so it didnt bang too far. Slowly make the drop bigger until the handlers isnt helping... I think its a terrible method, or at least for my dog it was. SHe is hesitant on seesaws and always pauses right in the middle - and only weighing 7kg usually doesnt tip the thing! I need to do some serious re-training of it but its just finding the time. With Oscar, I knew that the original method I'd used was bad. He is even smaller than Muffin so I couldnt afford to have another dog that stopped in the middle. I did the 'place on end, let them bang it' without nose touches. He started to think the bang was fun (maniac lol) and it didnt take long for him to be able to run up the seesaw and excitedly wait for it to bang. He is now very reliable on it and never flies off because he enjoys the bang too much :D
  7. Excellent, thanks I will have a google I do have a gazebo that I sit under at trials, hadnt heard of gazebo 'tents' though so I'll look into it. I saw these great small camper trailers at the local garden store of all places, looked absolutely fantastic - until I asked the price the base model was $9000... so I will be looking for a 2nd hand one for sure
  8. Hi all, looking for some recommendations of good tents for shows/trials. Thought the best people to ask were other dog people! I need something that is easy (very easy) to put up , good quality, and big enough for one person and two small dogs. Ideally it would pack down fairly small as I have a small car. Usually I just go to a hotel/motel when I travel to agility trials but its very expensive so I think a tent would be a worthwhile investment. Thanks
  9. Sent my entries off for this last week... havn't made the trek down before so am looking forward to it
  10. But if you're having a bad day, you're generally providing excellent entertainment for your fellow competitors. :p Strategic pairs is a lot of fun as a handler but even better as a spectator I reckon - especially when it goes wrong. SP can be hysterical I love watching it
  11. I saw your run - it wasnt that bad! He looked like he was having so much fun!
  12. 99.99999% of the time mistakes are my fault... so I always keep going I have to keep Muffin's drive up and taking her out of the ring just when she's all pumped to have a run is not going to help with that - I dont want her thinking she's done something wrong when its my fault
  13. I have witnesses a blind poodle participating in flyball so I guess it shows pretty much anyone can have a go

    Toilet Problems

I dont have a chance to read the whole topic... but I saw something about "a breed thing" - I'd just like to say I had no trouble toilet training either of my cavalier king charles spaniels, so its definatley NOT a breed thing ;)

However I really think you will know in your heart when she cannot go on anymore, and when that time comes we will all be here for you supporting you as you face the difficult time of letting Jenna have her wings. Give the darling a hug from me, Muffin & Oscar
