  1. FANTATIC NEWS!!!!! Rocky Pet World at Redhill in North Rockhampton no longer sell dogs, puppies, cats and kittens. They will shortly be displaying pictures of Capricorn Animal Aid's animals that are needing homes. Please pass around this news. Thanks Rocky Pet World!!! http://www.capricornanimalaid.org.au/
  2. Hey Thomas. Welcome. Sounds like your pup has the best home and a perfect owner. Bed sounds good. What are you doing before you put him in his crate? Where is his crate? Could you put the crate in your bedroom for the first week to teach him about sleep time? Put the bed with the good mum smells in the crate? Sure teaching him manners is a good idea, but keep in mind that he's a baby puppy and his attention span won't be great, plus he'll want to chew when teething, etc. But I'd teach him to sit, and wait before he goes for his food etc. Definitely less stool amount when you feed a good quality kibble! (And that's a good thing when you've got a large dog like a GSD) There are LOTS of pet shops online that are cheaper than buying from your local vet. If he's consistently not eating it all, maybe feed him less (but more often?). But yes be careful with the meat going off. I'll wait for one of the vet nurses to comment on this. I can't remember what I did with my boy, and I don't want to tell you the wrong thing. Where is his water bowl? Could pollen be falling in it? Dust? As long as it's fresh and clear there shouldn't be a problem, I don't think.
  3. Queensland Police Service Social Media For The Win! Thanks to our eagle-eyed FB friends, a certain white bull terrier is back with his thrilled owners. #thanks!
  4. Hopefully someone can help these people get their dog back. http://qpsmedia.govspace.gov.au/2011/12/13/stolen-dog-trinity-beach/
  5. Well said Steve. I'd also like to know why the judge didn't award costs.
  6. RSPCA outraged over lenient sentence for Puppy Farmer Here
  7. Yeah I don't like people touching my dog without asking. If they say politely "Oh what a gorgeous dog can I pat him" no worries! But just walking up and cuddling him is not on. The part I hate the most is when people come up to us, pat him and make baby noises, AND COMPLETELY IGNORE ME. Hello, there's something attached to the other end of the lead here sweetheart....
  8. We have an inside dog and an outside dog. The outside dog is absolutely terrified of thunder. She will tear the door off the house trying to get in and hide. At that stage, we had an old screen door in the laundry that the previous owners had put a cat flap in. (You know where this is going) So one summer, we have a storm, and outside dog thinks the world is ending (again) so she's desperate to get in. I hear a noise and think nothing of it. Then Outside Dog walks into my bedroom, happy as larry, with the cat flap stuck over her head after (obviously) not fitting through and just tearing it off! We got a Crim Safe door after that....
  9. Don't get me wrong - I agree with everyone's comments. I'm just wondering if the OP was trolling.
  10. I know right? It makes night time toilet a pain in the behind. Men...
  11. My dog has to walk in circles before he can pee.

  13. Xander has a new spaniel bowl, a new leash, and a panda toy. Nisha is getting a cooling bed. Tara is getting some treats (because she already has everything else).
  14. @ Ruffles - Loooove the stack of Loki at 8 months. Hubba Hubba.
  15. Wish I could give you some advice. Hope the vet can shed some light.
  16. So I normally buy my dog the 10-25kg Advantix. He is 12kg. I've always wondered if buying the 4-10kg Advantix would be okay. What do you think?
  17. All new cocker spaniel super duper grooming products! New fancy Wahl clippers that are rechargable and cordless. Flash expensive scissors. A pair of the snub-nosed scissors for tidying feet. Expensive thinning scissors. A grooming table so I don't have to dust off the picnic table when I groom him. The hydrobath would probably blast him out, so some sort of doggie spa bath. Definitely a blow dryer. Heck, you know what? I'd buy a granny flat and turn it into my own grooming salon down the back. That's what I'd do.
  18. My sister's dog was diagnosed with lymphoma at age 8 as well. She was Stage 4 or 5 when my sister got her to the vet - with hardly any symptoms. My sister decided to give chemo a try, and Tara is out of remission now and back to her old self. I'd definitely recommend chemo after seeing how well my sister's dog did. Glad your Ruger is better!
  19. Update: the vet rang Monday and advised that it was an infection like an ingrown hair or similar. Phew!
  20. I'd assume they suggested to give it with treats to encourage your dog to eat it.
  21. Don't stress. Fleas aren't the end of the world. Just one of those things! What's important is you've noticed and you're treating it.
  22. Poppydog Capstar is pretty cool. Within 30 mins of feeding it to the dog you will notice the fleas becoming slower and dropping off. Well, I did when I used it on an infested dog. Pretty interesting imo!
  23. Hey SC. Take a look at my thread called Metacam. I researched online last night and it is an non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug which is used in the treatment of arthritis according to the website. There is a link in my original post which links to an older thread on this forum regarding its use as well. Have fun reading!
