How long have you had him? I've fostered lots of male dogs and find that many will mark when they first arrive. I would treat him like a puppy - frequent toilet breaks outside and watch him like a hawk!

Owners Of Large Powerful Dogs - Do Not Let Your Kids Walk
*kirty* replied to labadore's topic in General Dog Discussion
I'm glad your boy is ok. It's such a horrible thing to happen. My standard poodle was attacked by a staffy mix at my son's footy game last year. The dog was being held by a child no more than 3 years old... It dragged the child across the concrete before she finally let go of the lead. It raced over and launched an attack on Toby before she even saw it coming. I was livid and the owners admitted it was dog aggressive! I am just so grateful that it wasn't my 6kg Italian Greyhound who I almost took instead of Toby. -
I'm so sorry for your loss. RIP Nelsson

At the I Love Dogs Show last Sunday, I asked one of the Vets about vasectomy. The reply was no Vets do not do this in Australia. This was not for desexing at a young age either. I ended the conversation. It absolutely is done in Australia, you just need to ask for it. It is not done routinely because most people just want their dog desexed.

Oh Pheebs, I am so sorry. I truly believe you did the right thing for your girl but I know how much it hurts. So sorry.

Denali the kitten is an Exotic. :)

You need to stop the dogs from chasing him or he will never stop running. Have them on lead when he is around, have treats on hand to reward the dogs for calm behaviour etc.

I'm really sorry to hear this Pheebs and I'll keep everything crossed for you that it turns out to be nothing. I would take it day by day. A friend went through amputation and chemo with her dog and it was awful. After watching that, I completely agree with your thoughts on the matter. But if she seems bright enough I see no reason to rush and PTS.

With the exception of my IG, all my dogs would go with anyone.

Do You Love One Breed But Not Love A Similar Breed?

I love Bull Terriers but not a fan of any other terriers, and not really a fan of bull breeds in general. But when it comes to sighthounds, I just love them all! -
Regurging Saliva - Not Sure Of Vet Diagnosis

If she is a few kg overweight as you say, that means she could be double her ideal weight... Being obese can cause nasty reflux and heartburn in people so I imagine it might be the same for dogs. -
http://m.gympietimes.com.au/news/pet-motel-owners-big-clean-up-task/2421152/ Pet motel owner’s big clean-up task THE smell is a bad first impression at the Gympie Pet Motel and former home of the Best Friend Fur Ever Rescue Service. The property's angry owner, who also owns the business, did not want to be named, but said she was distraught at the results of having leased the property and business out for the previous 12 months. "It isn't pretty and it doesn't smell good," she told The Gympie Times when we arrived. Manager Doug Seaman said the mess was so bad he was having the owners of any remaining animals collect them so he could close down for a month to repair and clean the premises. The two were waiting for RSPCA inspectors to arrive at the Eel Creek Rd property so they could assess the state of the property before clean-up work began. The animal rescue service has been under pressure recently with neighbours complaining about constantly barking dogs and Gympie Regional Council moves to shut it down in response to the complaints. "This business has been here as a boarding kennel and pet motel for 40 years and it's never been like this," the owner said. Mr Seaman brushed flies aside from his face as he took us through the dog and cat cages, where gutters did not appear to have been hosed out and rotting food and excrement fouled the air. "There's a cow and a horse in the paddock and another horse that's dead," Mr Seaman said. "I'm dreading the owner coming around for his horse and I'll have to ask him if it's the dead one in the paddock. "This was a nice clean business I was proud of. "It should be cleaned and disinfected every day. "It's shocking to find the business in this state. "I've been shaking and even throwing up and it's not the smell. "It's just the shock of seeing the business in this state. "We're going to close for a month to sterilise, repair, rebuild and paint. "I spent seven years rebuilding this place. "It caught fire and I spent three years after that rebuilding again. "And now this happens." The former operator said she had saved many animals in the past 12 months.

We have a patient at work that has a pacemaker. He now lives a normal life I believe. The surgery was done in Melbourne but I'm not sure where sorry. If I see him I'll ask the owners.

I haven't advertised him yet, he's not ready. He still has some issues that need ironing out. :)

Funnily enough, he doesn't bark at herding!! -
I have 4 dogs of my own and two fosters at present, Jolie stayed home to babysit the naughty puppy lol.

That's interesting, Animal Network have always told us that a vet needs to do the swab so they can check the chip and sign the form.

Here's mr crazy on our walk today. -
I didn't think you were allowed to do the swab yourself? I thought a vet had to sign off on it?
-
Just some randoms pics from our walk this morning. :) Pia Toby Rocky (with his crazy eyes on) And Champa, my old man with cancer who was given 3-6 months to live over a year ago :D

Does anyone know of any fenced dog parks near Kilsyth? I normally let them run on our local oval but they have just whacked 'no dogs' signs up, despite footy season being over and no cricket played at this ground. Foster dog can't be trusted at an unfenced park yet.

Don't think so Jane.
