I have to say that At is the funniest i have seen, Mum was almost in tears the other week when he went crazy. Because he does nothing all day every day, the rare time he does the zoomies is so funny, and he jumps and spins on the spot and goes nuts. Never been able to get a video cause i have always been too busy laughing at him

Maggots dont worry me either. I mean, i rather not have anything to do with them, but ifthey are they, they dont bother me. At my last job, someone was slacking off, I found a bone that was days old hidden in the back of a kennel full of maggots! Yummo -
I am sorry for your loss. We have Shane at Pets at Peace here, he is amazing, I have known him for years and have had to deal with him too many times But he treats the animals like his own, I highly recommend him, and if something happened and i moved away, i would actually pay more to get my pet to him to be cremated. I just dont get why some people go into this business

I have pretty much the same as the others, two crates, they have a med thickness mat in them both, Kaos also has a nice thick black mat, and some blankets (Atlas did have the same, but ate his ) Atlas hides his toys in his crate, and Kaos hides hers under my bed I have a blanket to put over them in winter

He is very aggressive when it comes to his feet - a vet in WA stuffed him up By the time i make him stay and let me dremmel, it is just as easier, and quicker to drive to the vets and get them to cut them, Lisa can do them in less time than it takes me to get organised to dremmel! I do try to file them between cuttings, but it is just such a PITA - my vet also doesnt charge for cutting his nails, so makes it a better option!
-
wow, thanks Erny! That looks exactly like what he has!! Will print all this off when i goto the vets!

Surely dogs from different families wouldn't be fed together. No dog carer would be that stupid! I was at Pet Resorts last year, 4 dogs in a run, they even separated dogs from others in their family from time to time. I am sure he said to us that it was the same plan for this new place

oh, another thought - we just had a few days of a LOT of rain, so it could be that that has set it all off as well..

Nose is fine, everything is fine, just his stupid feet.

And this: digital hyperkeratosis increased thickness of the keratinized epidermis of footpads in dogs and rarely cats. May be in response to trauma or associated with distemper (hardpad disease), or pemphigus foliaceus. http://medical-dictionary.thefreedictionar...+hyperkeratosis but i get lost with all the big words
-
Ok, i have found: Palmoplantar Hyperkeratosis, http://www3.interscience.wiley.com/journal...006101/abstract but it doesnt really say much, or show photos
-
Ok, i just went googling and got a bit lost

My friend is a vet, she stopped working to have her baby, therefor does not have access to any thing to do testing, so i am wondering if it is something she can look at and tell what it is, or will there have to be some sort of tests. As i can not get into my vet until next week.
-
His nails actually dont worry him - I have talked to the vets about knocking him out and cutting them right back - but seeing whe he ripped 2 out, they grew back in weeks, he said there isnt much chance of keeping them normal (a heap of the dogs in his family have the same nails) And - It is only the 2 middle nails that are feral, the others are fine, but yet the pads next to them are furry as well, so i cant see it being his nails. ETA: can a vet tell it is a fungal infection without much testing? Just I have a friend I may be able to see tomorrow, but she works from home and doesnt have any of the gear that vets have. ETATA: It cant be the nails, i just realised, as the pad up the top, like his 'thumb' away from the nails, is furry too and it is no where near a nail
-
Furry: I cant get a better photo, no one to help me. But the pads are just like fur, right around the edge, but it is the pad. They also smell very Dorito-ish - i can smell them without having to lean in to sniff. Am going to start him back on AVC, and cant get into the vet till next week Oh, and ignore his nails, they are the worst nails anyone I know have seen, they were only cut a few weeks ago and grow sooo fast, I am sitting here trying to file them now
-
I remember posting about this years ago. Atlas has fury pads on his feet, most of them are hard, but there is a lot that is furry. It has never been a huge problem, although I have never worked out what caused it. the last few days he has been licking licking licking, he is due for a nail cut this week and I will ask the vet again, but thought I would post here and ask. I just had a look at them and the furry bits are really annoying him, i touched one and he got really itchy. Does anyone have any ideas on what it could be and how to fix it? I am off to work now, but will try to get a photo tonight when i get home! Thanks

I would never leave my dog at Pet Resorts. I dont like the idea of dogs from different families running and living together, and being fed together.

NILF didnt work for Atlas he doenst give a shit, want to go out? No, wont do anything for it... ok, well he just goes back to bed, never seen a dog hold his bladder as long as Atlas does :D I use water with Kaos, or a pat, she has NO interest in food when we are out and about, never had any food at obedience, but give her a little pat or a squirt with the water pistol and she is over the moon1
