:D Come meet mine, i cant change your mind! :p Crates are good not only for untrained naughty dogs, but for different situations - if your dog needs to travel somewhere, if your dog is sick and needs time at the vets, or time in a crate to recover (my old vets loved my dogs staying, they were one of the few who didnt scream all day, and who didnt mess in the cages while there) . there are 100s of reasons to use it, and for the sake of a few weeks training, you have asafe place for your dog for the rest of its life. When i traveled mine also stayed in their crates at night, one night in the car, the other in a hotel we managed to get a place to stay, dogs allowed if crate trained.

Hi There, do you have any old pillowcases or pillowcases you don't mind your dog pulling off the line? IF so then grap some balloons and fill them with water and stuff them inside the pillowcase and hang those on the line. When the dog jumps up to pull the washing off, the balloon bursts and instead of getting nice fresh clothing in his face, he gets a face full of cold water - which he won't like. He will soon associate the washing line/clothes with a face full of water and won't go near them again. Only if you can be there to make sure the dog does not eat the balloon - could be dangerous ALSO - ( was talking about this today) Kaos would love nothing better then that! this trick will not work on a water loving dog!!

I think the puppies will be fine, just make sure they are are warm - and like someone said, they will prob end up sleeping together Reg. The old border X, i would be bringing him inside - he is 15, let him live his last few months/years out by being inside with his family
-
Mine wont touch it (actually, Kaos i am talking about, At is too lazy to pull it off!) when i am home, but when i am out, she will get it all Home in orange was great, i had 2 yards, i could keep her out. Now i just crate her if i need to go out and something is out, she comes to work with me so i dont have too many problems!
-
Atlas is the problem child I now feed nutro, never had a probem since i started it, i also add ACV to their water. I cant get Nutro in WA so when my last lot runs out, i am going to have eto go back to finding something else.

that sucks, so a change of diet wont help? Stupid staffys!!

Maybe you need to do some research on things - There are things i dont like, yet wont comment on because I have never researched it properly. I was asking about breeds because in one thread you called the dog a MAstiff, in another, a DDB - I wasnt sure what breed of dog you had, you mentioned 2 breeds, so didnt know if it was one dog, or two dogs No need to get on your high horse and swear Once again i ask: Do you know what it is (crate training)? Tell me what you think it means, what is the routine for a dog who is crate trained?
-
sway, i was just thinking the same, and posted the same question in the posters intro thread.
-
Did the vet say what is causing it??
-
oh, just saw the photo! where are you getting it from? and can i ask howmuch? (pm me if you rather)
-
Ithought we were talking about crate training, not what our breeds were bred for? I know the history behind both my dogs, and know the history behind the future breeds i want to own (including a mastiff breed, who WILL be crate trained) What does that have to do with crate training? Do you know what it is? Tell me what you think it means, what is the routine for a dog who is crate trained? do you think they are stuck in the crate 24 hours a day? Is that why you dont like it? My crates are set up in the loungeroom, door always open. I will put them in there if i am going out at night and dont want them outside, and shut the door, or if i have people over. (not often) At night both dogs will go to bed (yep, hate it so much that they put themselves there) on their own, and follow me to bed when i head to bed When dogs were puppies they were put in the crate about 10 at night - i would get up at 12, 2, 4 and 6 to toilet them. as they got older i would make that 3 hours apart, and then 4, then all night. At most they would spend 8 hours in a crate, SLEEPING. During the day they would be outside or with me doing dog things. How is that cruel?
-
Ohhh, staffy puppy!! Come visit the staffy thread in General! Have you got any photos? Just want to comment on the crate comment about crating a dog isnt right. Tell that to my 2 who spend most of their time in there, doors always open, and they LOVE their beds. They are a place to put the dogs if needed (kaos is full on, if i have people over i crate her, she still sees people, but isnt in the way) it is a place to help toilet train puppies, and i promise that any dog that is crate trained, is 100 times easier and calmer at the vets then an untrained dog! If your dog is sick and needs to be kept quite, there is no problems with a crate trained dog. It is NOT cruel and is a fantastic thing for a dog I just traveled from NSW to WA - No way i could do that with 2 dogs if they were not crate trained. They were fine (well one was, the other had the shits cause he wanted to sit on my lap ) good luck with the pup!!
-
When do you feed them? If i feed at night, i have to get up and take them out, when if i feed in the morning, they sleep right through the night
-
I am so sorry Shoey :hugs: RIP little one
