  1. Lets hope there are none of those huge pythons there that would fancy a warm, sleeping small puppy as a nice snack Sleeping inside on your bed or in your room sounds good to me. She may pee where you go. Can't do any harm to try it. And Cane Toads - I'm in Brisbane and the toads have been out in force every night - My dogs can't go out at night without being leashed. I usually go out first with the broom and do a toad patrol before taking them out.
  2. Hoover got his name about 2-3 days after I bought him home after he did nothing but scour the floor picking up anything and everything, which he still does. I had already picked out Crumpets name before I collected her from the airport - she nearly had it changed though when I took her out of the crate and she peed all down my front. And Shabby had her name when I got her ( I'm her 5th owner ) apparently she was first called Coco.
  3. I only have 3 ( 2 up until 3 weeks ago when I adopted a rescue ) and they have inside/outside access all day and sleep inside at night. Mine all get fed beside each other as well - If they have bones they all go to different areas of the backyard. They usually alternate turns on the couch - When one hops off another will jump on. Two sleep on the bed but the new one prefers the lounge. I'd love to have more but 3's my limit with my local council and the size of my land. My bulldog Crumpet is the youngest - she turns 5 this year and my Scottie and PBGV will be 8. When I first bought the new one home I got the evil eye for a couple of weeks from Crumpet but now her and Shabby can't get enough of each other - Hoover, my Scottie usually does his own thing, he thinks he's way too precious to be part of the pack but I've watched him from the kitchen window leading the girls in zoomies round the back yard. So far I haven't had any problems with them getting along - they are all pretty laid back - My neighbour tells me that they sleep all day when I'm at work.
  4. If you are anywhere near Redcliffe you can come into where I work - We do Rear One Way Vision's all the time - Otherwise any Sign shop would be able to help. If you get one put on make sure you have it overlaminated as well, as when it rains sometimes the water can pool into the holes making visibility difficult. If you PM me I will send you the address etc.
  5. I have Crumpet ( bulldog ) Hoover ( Scottie ) and a recent visitor Shabby ( PBGV )
  6. Nice to know that owning a Scottie is classed as an ' accoutrement to the wealthy ' - I must be loaded - ' Scotty Cramp ' on my boy is in his jaw when I want him to drop something or maybe that's just ' Scottie Clamp '
  7. I'm new to all this DOL stuff but I go on Gumtree all the time - I always come across ads for BB's (among a lot of other breeds) trying to scam people but in November last year I came across one that wasn't. There was an actual contact number so I phoned and was told she was moving house and couldn't take the dogs with her. I wasn't looking for another dog but I couldn't not go and see her. When I did arrive and see the condition she was in I couldn't leave her there - I was told she had been ' home vaccinated ' ( what is that )and was registered and microchipped and desexed - I was unable to get any proof of any of these from the seller either. I wish I could have taken the Bull Mastiff as well but I did give her the Bull Breeds Rescue number and I hope she called. Spud (that's her name now) had open weeping hot spots on her bum area, tail and legs - The vet told me that the blackened hardened skin on her legs was probably from years of neglect/ non treatment. She was completely exhausted from scratching, underweight by about 4-5kgs and had infection in both of her ears as well as 2 teeth that had been broken and chipped and never fixed, her fur and skin was dry and flaky and she could hardly hold her head up. I thought my vet would advise me to end her suffering but he thought she was worth trying to help. After vet treatment/ vaccination and recuperation time she is now a completely different girl - She went to live with a wonderful family with 3 other rescue dogs and they send me photos/videos every week. I'm not a shady person adopting from Gumtree either - I just wanted to help her and I think I was pretty lucky to have been able to. I did contact the original breeder in NSW to let them know just in case this woman tried to get another one from her. How can these sorts of websites be stopped from selling and how can the sellers know who's buying their so called "much loved but can no longer keep'animals?
  8. I got my girl a ' Help Em Up ' harness that has handles over her back and rump ( comes in two pieces that clip together )after she had her knee done - Made by a company called Blue Dog - The hydrotherapy lady arranged it for me but I think you can get them on line. I use the top half of the harness now to walk her in and help her in and out of the car.
  9. Hi There - Don't know if this will work for you but I use Muscaban ( I get it from my vet )on my BB ears - She used to get fly bites - It's oily though ( I spray it onto my hands and rub it onto the outside of her ears ) - I'd be interested to hear what others use and if there's something better I could try that's not so oily.
  10. My Bulldog had TTA surgery in October last year - ( Her meniscus wasn't damaged )I think she coped better than me, I was a complete wreck. She went for twice daily walks of 100m gradually increasing over the 8 weeks of recuperation time on the advice of the Vet Specialist who did the operation. I kept her confined in my kitchen with baby gates across the doorways and put rubber matting on the wooden floor. I also took her to Canine Hydrotherapy after about 5 weeks where she had treatment on the Water Treadmill, now we just go down to the beach where she can wade in the shallows . The hardest part for me was keeping her calm as she's always been so excitable and full on. Good luck.
  11. They're all cute - I had to add a snap of my gorgeous rescue girl who has now gone to her beautiful new owners where she is living out her final years in complete bliss
